Cat, classification has nothing to do with an athlete being a Heisman candidate. GSU was hyping Bruce Eugene for the Heisman last year, as well as Steve McNair finishing 3rd in the Heisman voting his senior season. Along with Gordie Lockbaum from Holy Cross finishing 7th in the Heisman voting his senior season, and Adrian Peterson from Georgia Southern getting Heisman consideration his senior year. All were D1AA athlete's.

NICE

Nice, believe me at that time it was important. Hence thats why the 1AA was started in the first place. :smug2:

Cat, I understand what you're saying, but my point is classification wouldn't have stopped him from being considered, now did it stop him from winning????????

NICE

Tenn. State is I-AA and has been for awhile. The only other conference I remember them being in was an Independant I-AA team .

TNST did have 1-A status for a year or two. I vaguely remember them playing in the 1st 1-AA football playoffs and losing in the semifinals.

Actually, yes it did. Doug was 2nd in the balloting and lost because Division 1 Elite coaches would'nt vote for Doug because it was assumed Earl Campbell had played against tougher competition.

All HBCUs, TSU was an Independent, MEAC and SWAC was D1 at that time. :swink:

These numbers may be true also. My numbers reflect out of conference records against non HBCU(s) with the teams current membership status (not the status of the team when the game was played).

IMO, that method is inherently flawed. Where a team is now has nothing to do with where they were when a game was played 20 years ago.

By comparing apples to apples (I-AA vs. I-AA), you get a better understanding of the competitiveness between teams with the same amount of scholarships, recruiting guidelines, coaching limitations, etc.

L, Florida International is I-A now. In their first couple of years of football, they lost to Gardner-Webb twice and Carson-Newman, among others. I guess Carson-Newman can now say they're 1.000 vs. I-A opponents.

Since some of you like to bring up my alma mater all the time, in your method, McNeese would be well above .500 vs. Division I-A, thanks in large part to having a winning record over the two ULs and North Texas.

Nobody is discussing the Southland FL up in hea, you are the one that decided to compare theSWAC awful historical record against your PWC bretheren. Know your history, cause TSU was never the only D1 HBCU in history. :smug:

Ok, Jrock, I will say for the record you are right!!!! Using your specific wording.

Now let's look at what you are right about. You posted Current 1AA membership. This post started out talking about D1AA Polls and rankings.
PNeck posted Grambling Stats in D1AA games, which is what this thread is about.

That stat you posted really doesn't really mean much, it is just a way to dispute PNECK.

Let me give you an example, say after this year Southern moved to D1A, PV dropped football, and Grambling played a DII team that moved up to D1AA this year. Using your "CURRENT D1AA" members angle, the Southern and PV games would not be counted anymore and the DII game would count now. THAT IS CRAZY and really doesn't mean much.

It is 10 times more meaningful to talk about a game when BOTH TEAMS ARE D1AA. So what if 10 years later a team moves up a Division or down a division or drops the sport. WHEN THE 2 TEAMS LINED UP, they were playing under the same set of rules. Same number of scholarships, same number of coaches, etc. that what D1AA did, made a set of rules for a level playing field. Now we are comparing apples with apples. And under that same set of D1AA rules, GRAMBLING IS 3-6 against 1AA PWC, Fact. Now when I repeated that undisputable fact, you tried to change the subject a little and then say, "Mr Charlie tell you all what he want you to know." Which is really a insulting statement. Then started that "Current Membership" diversion.

Then a cheerleader shows up CATMENDUE2, talking about compiling junk, because he don't want to accept the facts.

My little brother used to do that. When he couldn't argue about some facts he didn't like he would change the subject a little.

You made the statement "In Grambling's case, I manipulated data no more that someone else that decided to show numbers that started from 1978." BUT WE ARE TALKING D1AA. D1AA was created in 1978. That date was not randomly picked. It would be like talking about a SWAC records, and then start including games before the SWAC was even created. When Grambling and Boise St lined up in 1980 and against Arkansas St. in 1985, both were D1AA, playing under the same set rules, and Grambling got thier arse kicked. Now that 20 years later, they both moved up to D1A matters little, and is no reason to pertend that the game did not happen.

So again, The fact still remains that GRAMBLING is 3 - 6, IN D1AA games against PWC.

So at the end CATMENDUE2 your statement "The fact of the matter is Grambling's record is above .500 no matter what angle he wants to use, and no matter what PWC's they have played against. " is just false, period.

P.S. To Grambling's credit, they have won some games against D1A school and major conferences like the Pac 10.

Lewis you are entitled to an opinion, History is history no matter how you want to skew it. :smug2:

I never said Tennessee State was the only "Division I" in HBCU history. I said they are the only "Division I-A" in HBCU history. That is an undisputable fact. Some HBCUs were "Division I" prior to 1978 and, point of fact, remain "Division I" to this day.

I know Jafus knows this because I read his article about FAMU last year and the Rattlers trying to become the first HBCU since Tennessee State to be Division I-A.

Well why don't you and Jafus tell us when that was, and while you at it tell us when did TSU join the OVC and when was the OVC 1A. :smug:

I believe that posting part of this history as opposed to all of it is "inherently flawed" also. Opinions, though are like azz holes........all of have them.

This is another opinion that is not valid. My posts in this thread were meant to show a different perspective with new parameters. It is not my fault if some people can't read and view it as an adversarial posting. One can also say that you want to play reverse Robin Hood on Grambling's accomplishment and cow tow to Biff, Chip ect......but that would only be an opinion. And as I said above all of us have them??..(for the record your opinion don't mean very much to me)

Nobody is skewing anything. CATMENDUE2, when you said (incorrectly) "Grambling record against 1AA (PWC's) in the last six game is 4-2 for GSU" You didn't call that opinion, when you said "Grambling has a winning percentage no matter how you look at it, you didn't call that opinion. Now confronted with some FACTS you don't want to accept but are accurate, you resort this opinion stuff.

Bottom line, Grambing is 3 - 6 in D1AA games against D1AA PWC. I guess next you will call the NCAA record book opinion.

Damn, and you don't even know the difference between D1A and D1AA
PNeck all of da SWAC was division 1 during that period including Grambling. How was Doug Williams a Heisman candidate if we weren't?

You need to find you a dog to play with. I know this, I know more about Grambling football than you will ever read about. I know Grambling has a winning record against 1AA OOC opponents, no matter what league they from.

Secondly, Pneck aint no authority up in hea! Like everything else he gives numbers not facts. :nod2:

he cooks books
