Spaghetti Sauce

How do you cook yours? Do you make it from scratch, or do you add Prego/Ragu? If you do it, from scratch, what do you put in your sauce, to enhance the flavor? Do you add veggies, or just spices, or both?

Why would anyone add something to Spaghetti Sauce such as Prego/Ragu? All you have to do is put that Prego/Ragu in a bowl and tell everyone you made it and they will be trying to duplicate it. Just like people want to know how I make such good Chicken wings sauce. What they don't know is the directions are printed on the hotsauce bottle.

I do both.

Scratch: Trinity, tomato sauce, italian seasoning, tap of sugar, seasonings...italian sausage. and a spaghetti sauce seasoning pack.

Ragu/Prego: same as above...almost. Mine never tastes like it came out the jar. Although I like the jar too...

Kema,

I actually add my own spices and such, to the Prego...or, I'll just create it all, from scratch. I like it both ways...:licky:

btw, your recipe sounds delicious.

Thanks Warnda! I forgot that I put mushrooms in mine too.

Jag4Life, Snake and a few others had some of it last year. I woke up and all of it was gone.

Warnda when I come visit y'all, can you make me a little taste please.:nod2:

From scratch: 1 can tomato sauce, 1 can tomato paste, 1 can of water for each can, onions, garlic, green onions, bell pepper, seasoning (tony chachere's), & a spaghetti sauce seasoning pack

I brown the ground meat first with the onions, garlic, green onions, & bell pepper. Then I add the tomato sauce, paste, water, and seasoning pack. Season to taste with tony chachere's.

Worcheshire (sp) sauce

A girl who is an excellent cook used to put it in hers.

I miss her. :(

but I digress

don't get too heavy handed with the worcheshire sauce though. just a few shakes will do.

Yes! It must be drained! Once I add the tomato sauce, paste, & seasoning packet I let it simmer for about an hour to make sure the flavors blend together.

Tomatoes, tomato sauce, tomato paste, garlic, basil, oregano, a little sugar, and red pepper. I couldn't tell ya how much. I let that simmer and then ground turkey.

Finally, someone mentions basil and oregano. I use each of these except the sugar. I'll also add a little cajun seasoning and seasoning salt.

that is the same as "Italian Seasoning". :D

Always my own mixture. Never a jar or pack.

Tomato sauce, green bell peppers, Tony Chachere, onions(white or yellow), dash of salt, dash of black pepper, garlic powder, and water.
