Quit whining like a bia, it takes money to have a wiining athletic program. Any fool knows that. What the first reason yall don't have no money, is yall don't support your own school. With all the PV alumni in the Houston area, yall should be playing every home game in front of 15 - 20K.

Also, 8th place out of 10 is bad, no matter how you look at it or what your excuse is. esp when 9th amd 10th are Valley and Pine Bluff and you are 40 miles from the nations 4th largest city.

we don't support our own school? Where you got that from? The cash is there from the academic side and hell, we're back in business in basketball. We should draw better but in all reality a lot of folks who got turned off by the bad mismanagement in the past are the ones who won't come out. Looking at the home schedule this year we will average almost 20K per game. We might even win the attendance title. How?

TSU - PV game - 25K at least
PV - Alcorn (homecoming) 10-15K
PV - SU - Reliant Stadium 18-25K
PV - GSU - Dallas 55K minimum

If there is no minimum requirement for home game, we're up there.

I was at the PV-JSU game, which should be a big home game and what did yall do, 4K maybe. on a day with perfect weather. The schedule you listed below, 25K for you no. 1 rivial is pitifull, the SU game, you know whos fans will be there, that oughta count as a Southern home game, and the Dallas game is a classic.
THe last time we played PV in the astrodome, you could have just said Mumford West., Good luck this year.

TSU is only 52 years old and a lot of their students over the years have been foreigners so their base support is shaky unlike us.

Not helping the JSU game is that it was being promoted or marketed. Since Houston has a lot of things to attract fans away our minds have to be set in order to fill PV for a non-big game.

There should have been an articke about PV and JSU the week of the game but when your only marketing tool in Houston is a one line schedule what do you expect? Same with TSU.

Unlike BR,the local paper is azz backwards when it comes to covering games. They will break their azz to make it to the big schools but 1-AA games have to be in Houston in order to get coverage.

If we get the elusive road win, there will not be a writer to talk about it.

I hope that will change eventually with the moves that are forthcoming.

Yall got more excuses than a ...... Well, i ain't gonna go there since this is the sports board and not the smack board. PV has 4 home games, ain't that damn much going on in Houston where you cannot support your school for 4 home games. IF i said that most of the crowd in Dallas was Grambling you would have a hissy fit. But yall flock to dallas like no tommorow but won't show up at a home game.
Why should the local paper go to your games when yall don't even go (care). It all starts at the same place.

If those 4 home games conflict with HS games/TSU games/etc, what do you expect? A full house?

Unlike BR again, your high schools don't play on Saturdays and since BR ain't Houston, what else is there to do? I'm looking at the schedule now and I can tell you the city district (which is full of PV supporters) has monster games scheduled days for when either TSU and PV are home.

As a HS kid, are you going to go to your game against a rival or PV vs Valley? Especially if Valley has no band or no star player.

as for the Chronicle, people are so used to reading that they will believe what they say. If you can't get in the newspaper how can folks believe.

The difference between a crowd in Dallas and PV is the atmosphere. The game is tied in with something so it works hand-in-hand unlike a home game besides Homecoming.

I guarantee if SU was in Houston you would be wondering also about the support. SU Houstonians are a weird batch if you tell me. They don't show up unless it is football. They just said "screw hoops and other sports". They come for football becaue it is a once-a-year thing and they want to be apart of the "Jag Nation" Image.

since BR ain't Houston, what else is there to do?
That is yall constant excuse, Like Houston is the mecca of nightlife and the only structure standing in BR is Mumford. Please. Now the fact that High Schools play on Sat in Houston is a factor. But after a certain point, you are either gonna support your school or you ain't, and just because they got an ice skating ring in the Galleria wouldn't stop you.

if your a PV alum abnd your kid plays on Saturdays, what do you do?

What we haven't done successfully is get the support from the Dallas alumni when it comes to home games. That right there would help attendance if they came on down for a consistent basis.

Dang Blu P,
Every PV alum don't have a kid playing on Saturday. Also every PV alum in Houston does not have kids that play period. Geez. That's an excuse. How do the UT and A&M fans in Houston get in their cars and make their way to Austin and College Station to see their games. I am sure they have kids that play, cheer, march in the band etc on Saturdays. So how come they don't have an excuse.

When I coached youth football in Ft. Bend. Those white parents who had kids playing all day on Saturday and still rolled their college games. They balanced it out. They split their time. And if they had no kids playing ball. Well little Jenny the cheerleader at Elkins would cheer that Saturday night while A&M Mom and Dad headed to College Station. The point I am making is that you guys use that as an excuse to not go to PV games. Every PV parent does not have kids that play HS ball, cheer or in the band. Actually most have just regular students and they can go the game by themselves on Saturday night. Heck most of the parents of these HS athletes have not even been to college or better yet didn't go to PV. Most of the PV alums I know don't go because they know you will not win. And unless it's HC, or Dallas, they feel no reason to go, so yeah I am sure they find something better to do in Houston. Also like Lewis said, your game with TxSU should draw at least 40k. That's a rival game on a holiday weekend.

BTW SU fan in Houston did support basketball when I was there from 91-2000. But these last couple years have been rough. I expect a turnaround with the team and we also signed some good recruits this offseason.

I'm still waiting on someone from TSU or PV to let me in on what is there to do in houston during game time. I been living here 10 years and I ain't seen nothing yet. The folks that i have asked in the past have all told me that they don't go to the games because neither school is winning.

Let me say that again....

THEY DON'T SUPPORT YOU BECAUSE YOU'RE NOT WINNING!

Hey Blu, i'm curious to hear your explanation on why UT and A&M alumn who live in houston leave the city to support their school. This should be good.
