SOUTHERN vs. ST PAUL'S

If Alcorn rotates back on the schedule next year, you have to return the game to them anyway.

I see skurd people.

Also, JSU is not scheduling a 12th game becasue of the reasons you cite. Our AD prepares his schedules waaaaaaay ahead of time. Even though NWestern backed out on us, we still have them booked from 2003-2009. We also have to put TxSo back on the schedule and we are supposed to play FAMU so we are not in a postion to play a 12 th game becasue we can't return it. But again, Culberson is not going to play a D2 just to get a win. I could see if you all had scheduled some tough PWC or HBCU D2's but you begged Benny last year and now Miles and St Paul.

Since you all have all of these big games in the works, you all better not let it be April of 2003 and you still have 4 open dates. You know what that would make you all ( ..on top of being sissies and cowards).

...a SuperDome beatdown is on it's way to Southern University. We don't like punk arse football teams.

GET READY,

You must have missed the St. Paul's Link at the beginning of this thread on page 1. St. Pauls is located in Lawrenceville, Virgina.

What is even more amazing is that after all this discussion, no one has either confirmed or denied this game. Someone must have some real information. I understand that SU can play who they want, but as a fan I chose not to spend my hard earned $$$ on Morris Brown ( I've already seen the Bubbling Brown Sugar dancers.) and the likes of St. Pauls. There will be better games to watch on the tube.

So what if we slap a few punks and weak-arses? All of you just try and make sure that you are not one of them.

OK GR, since I know I am smarter than you in every category known to man. And going to SU has nothing to do with that arrogant statement(it's my Jackson upbringing:D ) It's how I was raised. North Jackson style.
Anyway, you have no clue do you? How can SU be scared of anyone. These are out of conference games. We do not go the playoffs and these do not affect SWAC standings. So why would the AD say uh I am scared to play TnSU, FAMU, or Alcorn? Why should he care anyway? He will not get fired if we don't win. Pete would. Maybe Culberson knows to get a hard schedule so he can have a reason to have Hughes's azz canned.

The point I am making is that schools were asked and they said no. End of discussion. If we were scared why did we add Nicholls? Like you said they have kicke our azz in the past. Why would we be scared of Alcorn? They have not beat us since McNair's Sr year and barely did that in Lorman. TnState doesn't scare us. Even in the 80's, SU had more success against them than JSU did. Go look it up. Hell I witnessed only one beatdown to TnSU while I was at SU. We beat them the last time we played them in the Georgia dome a few years back. So why would we be scared GR. I want to see your face when SU kicks JSU azz this year. I won't tell the board how certain Mafia members have conveyed their uneasiness about your beloved team this year or how some true JSU fans don't think Kent has any help. I'll keep their secret.~snicker~ But I forgot you have been right about JSU every year since ...... err.......I am still thinking...........err............ oh wait you haven't been right about JSU since 96, oops my bad. Didn't mean to call you out like that. Robber is still the most sensible JSU Mafia member. Must be how he was raised. LOL

TP,
Alcorn said no what do you not understand about that. We would have had to pick them up last year. If we picked them up this year we might have had to go to Lorman this year and Lorman next year. Or they would have to come to BR 2 years in row. The SWAC has already determined where that game is next year. Remember we said we want a home game. Alcorn would have not gotten anything out of the deal. Unless we played at neutral site for a classic. So I can't blame them for saying no. Why are you guys so concerned about SU anyway. Hell you say we are sad in talent so we are playing teams on our level then. Make up your hypocritical minds will ya. SU could schedule all 1-A schools out of conference and you still would say we suck. :smh:

Everything that has been said here is of NO consequence to any outside of the Nation. Everyone else just needs to pay attention to there athletic programs and make sure you don't get caught in what SU is at the moment.

However, I want to go back a little bit. In the mid-90's, didn't Jackson State play Florida A&M? Why were they taken off of Jackson State's schedule at least for the last three years that I can remember? Then, you pushed a New Haven in there and you want us to feel bad about not furnishing Alcorn State with a game?

Jack Spinks Satdium seats about 22,000 fans. About 17,000 of that is on ONE freaking side. You wonder why Southern didn't want to go up there if they didn't have to? It's happening in Pine Bluff this season already, according to what some people say the stadium looks like. Once again, Alcorn gets the big payday and Southern gets cramped and forced to sit on a cfuking HILL for the same damn price of a regular seat? What kind of **** is that?

Now, while you may talk about Mumford, visiting fans can get seats if they want them bad enough. What GR was obviously talking about had to be the way some SU fans treat their visitors. Hell, that's everywhere MAN! But, to say it like visiting fans can't get seats in a damn lie and you know it. How many schools other than Jackson State bring more than a 1,000 fans here anyway? Not a ONE.

This whole situation is about money. Plain and simple. You can rip the schedule all you want, but I don't remember some body running to Texas Southern WHEN they didn't have to (especially after they beat you in Jackson the year before.) It would benefit Southern University more to get a 12th game AT HOME against anybody without jeopardizing a 2003 schedule with a unnecessary return game than to go on the road this year or promise that return game and supply someone else's athletic budget. Bottom LINE.

You cant turn a hoho to a housewife!!!

Same thing applies to jsue....They are our bia bia's. No explanations needed. They will assume the position in the SUperdome we will slap their little soft butts around and continue to lead the all time series. Never get in the habit of explaining something to these tricks called jsue. It is the daily cycle in jsue that has them exemplifying all of the SUperior bashing. 10 minutes later they will be crying and copping a plead.

BTW,

The colonel is tappin dat arse to and taking all of jsue money at the gate. Colonel say: Get away nigra boy there was only 120 people at that there football game. Here is "yur" cut less "activity fees." Now hop and skip "yur" butt back to lynch until I need mo money. This here field is confederate memorial not the sister of confederacy stadium.

Hello board. I have been out of town for a few days and I am tired from the travel. Anyway I see that SU is the hot topic again. As far as I know about this.......St Paul was a consideration but I do not know if SU will play them or not. Now, all of you who are as always smaking SU know that SU has always had top teams to play each and every season. This year for the first time the ball was dropped and this last home game is being placed in haste. I am really not suprised that the haters have found this out and want to just milk it dry.

Is that supposed to be a sarcastic statement? Are you not a JSU backer? To answer your question, I am a proud Jacksonian and Mississippian. That is where I am from. I will never be ashamed of where I come from. Career-wise and lifestyle wise, I would rather live elsewhere. So yeah it's good to be out of Ms on that note. But it is still home. Don't confuse my undying loyalty to my alma mater SU as I don't like where I am from. Notice I do not smack my fellow Sips about the rebel flag and other things that go on in the Sip. I stick strictly to SU vs JSU. Unlike GR , I do not hate JSU like he does SU, I save that(my hate) for Grumbling. LOL. I actually like JSU the school. I just love to see SU beat that azz, cause it extra special for me being from Jackson. That answer your question Solo? I see you are in VA. So is it good to be out of MS?

Somehow my man, you are stuck in this 80s time warp where you think things that happened 20 years ago have any real relevance to what is happening now.

You want to see my face this year huh? Where have you been the last 2 years. You were in NO and you didnt want to see my face. You were in Jackson last year, and you didnt want to see my face. And believe me, you are not going to want to see my face this year either.....or next year.

Dont worry...I wont rub it in during and after the game....that aint cool. But the look on my face will say...I TOLD YOU SO.

He wants to see my face. Thats real easy to say aint it. But your actions show very differently.

LOL@GR.
No different than it easy to see your face in 99 both times. We even came to your hotel. Somehow I always seem to find Robber. Believe me I am not hard to find. Me, ZNSPR8502 and MOMOF2YM are always next to SU's band. So come on over and visit. You'll be safe sitting with us.

Win or lose, I don't run. BTW, I am not stuck in the 80's. I was just pointing out to you that if SU should have been sced, would have been then and not now. Why be sced of people you have beat.

OK SU folks...here is the deal.

I dont understand why you educated African Americans cant have a discussion without saying..."YOU HATN ON ME."

Is this damn Ricky Lake Show? Just because someone points out what they think is a shortcoming, that doesnt mean they hate you. If you explain why your point well enough, the person with the accusation might back off his statement.

For the last time, I dont hate SU. But I will call you out on this topic just like any other school that sissifies its schedule in the name of a cheap win. I just think our schools should try to be more competitive.

SCheduling Miles and St Marys in the same year is just a punk move to me. Im sorry. And you cant tell me this is about money or home games or scheduling conflicts or non of that. There is noway you can make more money dragging St Pauls down south, than you can playing Alcorn or FAMU in Mobile. This is just ridiculous to me. Thats just he way I feel. You dont owe me an explanation...hell you can play Southern Lab for all I care. I just notice that you have turned away from seeking and playing good non conference games. Just look at your recent history.

You used the same excuse last year when you tried to schedule Benedict. Just look at the trend. You used to play a good schedule, but you have now turned your back on good BCF and I think its a shame especially for a school that has a claim to be one of the premier HBCUs. Thats just my opinion, I could be wrong...but I doubt it.

Can someone please help me understand the part of the Southernese culture that allows them to remotely open their mouth to another school about their stadium. Alcorns staduim is nicer than yours, Pine Bluffs Stadium is muuuuuch nicer than yours. Their stadium is veeery nice. So why would you even say anything about their stadium? Help me with that...please. A brotha trying to understand.

79,

I wasnt talking about the way SU fans treat visitors. Personally, I love the hostile environment. I wish the game would be moved back to BR simply because I have so much fun. I love to stand at the top of the stadium and argue with anyone that will listen.

But how can you say anything to anybody about begin cramped in seats when your school (for whatever reason) will not provide sideline seats to visitors. Maybe you reserve all of you seats(both sides) for the home team for whatever reason. And thats OK...but you have no room to talk about other teams accomadations with how rudely you treat visitors. At least you can sit on the sideline at PB and Alcorn. SU heards people into those horrible endzone seats, 25 yards out of the back of the endzone, and you give them an aluminum chair to sit in.

So give the other school accomadations a rest especially if yours are the worst in the SWAC.

I bumped into an SU perons in BR one time. Do you know she had the nerve to argue with me because she said the seating at Memorial wasnt good enough. Now mind you, there is no bad seat in Memorial...you can sit anywhere you want, choose from 62K of them. But this lady argued me down that JSU is not a good host because of the seating situation. I just stood there with my mouth open, because she was being earnest. She actually believed what she was saying.

What do you SU folks want? A personal waiter in a tux, one of those drinks with the umbrella in it, a straw hat and an ocean breeze.....dont throw rocks at other people home if you live in a.......

Well why didnt you come to Bgs house after the game in NO? Why didnt you come to see last year. Again I ask...where were you? Dont just come looking for me after you win, come looking for me after you lose too.

And you dont want me to sit next to you and that band. I just might make those women beaters mad enough to want to jump on a man. Naaaaaaaaaw, they wont do that.

So scheduling New Haven and NOT scheduling Texas Southern is a punk move too, right?

I'm am not accusing you of hating anyone personally. This is my point. Contrary to your belief, WE (being Southern University) can make MORE money from having any team HERE in Mumford than taking on a Alcorn or FAMU in Mobile (both of which did not agree to play this season for whatever reason.). It's business man, plain and simple. Okay, answer this? When you had a chance with the open spot that JSU had, why didn't JSU run to Mobile with FAMU instead of taking a home game against a New Haven club that SURELY would not get the recognition from JSU fans that FAMU would? I'll tell you why. JSU was smart enough to realize that no matter who you play in a classic, unless it is in your stadium, you are going to play money OUT, meaning you are not making as much as you could at home. For Southern to run to Mobile (with football team, band, etc. expenses) would have taken away from the take that SU would have gotten from a game whose gate most likely would have been divided. Why divide a 40,000 gate with a Alcorn or FAMU when they only bring 15,000 to Mobile? It is better for any team to play at home and the only thing you are paying out is visiting team hotel and food expenses along with some type of minimal guarantee to this one-time opponent. The WHOLE gate goes to the home team (SU), which means MORE MONEY.

A....We did play New Haven and Tx Southern in the same year. We replaced Tx Southern with NCAT&T in Atl. So you can we still signed a competitive game.

B. FAMU rolled off of our schedule to play Miami. That had nothing to do with us. We play them next year.

C. My point is...you can do much better than playing a no name non competitive game. I just believe that your name has more drawing power than playing St Augustine. I firmly believe that you dont have an interest in playing competitive BCF games......and thats a shame.

The idiot index of this post has just went up. Do you want to know why you can sit on the sidelines at PB and Alcorn GR? BECAUSE THEY DON'T HAVE THAT MANY OF THEIR OWN FANS TAKING THOSE SEATS! At Southern, Southern fans do fill up those areas you spoke of, but don't act like visitors can't get those too. I have seen many a J-State fan sit in the lower levels of the East side of Mumford. Why you ask? Because they had enough sense to know that if that's the seat you want, you'd better get someone to buy it in Baton Rouge early! Wanna know why those visitors and some SU fans end up in the endzone? Because they are late in getting their tickets.

Visitor tickets are sent from SU and most of those are in the section close to the visiting band spot. If you don't get any of those, and don't get help from Baton Rouge, then that's one you!

Nobody said anything about how the stadiums look. We all know Mumford, look wise, can't stand upto these newer stadiums. BUT, I was talking about sheer size and the layout. Both of our sides are evenly sided, unlike Alcorn and PB. They may be beautiful, but they still cramp the hell out of the visitor!

A....We did play New Haven and Tx Southern in the same year. We replaced Tx Southern with NCAT&T in Atl. So you can we still signed a competitive game

You went OUT of TOWN for that game, didn't you? That's why we are different. Southern does not want to do that with what is supposed to be an almost set 2003 schedule that will include the SWAC matchups, McNeese St., Northwestern St., and maybe TnSU. A home and home matchup would mess those plans up because we would owe someone a road game that's not in the SWAC.

C. My point is...you can do much better than playing a no name non competitive game. I just believe that your name has more drawing power than playing St Augustine. I firmly believe that you dont have an interest in playing competitive BCF games......and thats a shame

You don't think they wanted to do better than a possible St. Pauls? They know what their fans are interested in, but at this time, that is NOT a viable option because of the above explanantion about next year's schedule and the SWAC schedule change coming next season, not to mention that the very schools you are talking about SAID NO!

Wrong again

A. WE played TxSU and New Haven in Jackson in the same year.

B. Did you read where I said that you sell the tickets to your own fans.....So why do I have to be ignorant? My point is that you cant throw stones if you live in a glass house. Quit complaining about other peoples places when yours is the crappiest.

C. I always sit on the sideline....I figured the game out a long time ago....but you know, Im always looking out for those more ignorant than me.

D. Playing St. Joe is punk....no matter how you slice it.

Jagster

Unfortunately every other 1-AA or Div II school either didn't have that date as an open, wanted a home and home series, or simply refused to play us

:p :p :p :p

I like Pete, as a coach. But, when it comes to scheduling TN State, he has used "Hughes" encyclopedia of excuses. We offered to play the first game in B R. But, again someone did not want to make a trip to Nashville. Come on, SU come and play. I promise it will not hurt.

SU made 400K? that means the total gate was 800K. That sounds a bit fishy to me.

Im sure Pete wants to play you guys as well, however, its not his nor the athletic departments decision. Until it is given back to the AD and the football staff, we just go where we are told.

That first game was to be played in New Orleans, but the powers that be, organized the Tulane game instead. Its gonna happen, but the question is when.

In regards to your 400K post, that was the gate total minus expenses for the game.
