Southern University will remain ineligible for postseason competition because of "unusable data'' from its academic progress rates, the NCAA informed the school Friday. The ruling stays a ban that was implemented in December of 2013.

Though the ban keeps Southern from taking part in NCAA postseason competition, university officials said they continue to work to have it lifted as quickly as possible.

However, as of now, Southern's men and women's basketball programs, both expected to be in the hunt for the SWAC title, cannot compete in the NCAA Tournament.

Frat. I see you added APR problems to your title like they are new. Same ole stuff. I don't understand the NCAA. They are never going to get good data from that time period. Either they move on or just sanction us. Kind of tired of the whole thing. There is nothing the new folks can do to produce old records or fix old incomplete data that don't exist. It's like they are asking us to go make up some isht just to complete paperwork.

What they should focus on is their handpicked person in compliance and what is in place now. Even the Feds have stopped looking for Jimmy Hoffa or looking for J Edgar Hoover missing files. Warren Commission on Kennedy Assassination send help.

Man I wish I had Penn State money to go punk the NCAA. Sheesh. I can understand if they were finding problems with the new people in place. Or with the current players.

Yeah it's been a year already. Are the teams going to be banned infinitely if they never get the data?

SU Peeps were trying so hard to act like this was nothing.

It is nothing Pop. WTF they going to do. Disband SU athletics. You know how much of a bad PR move for the NCAA that would be considering all the other BS they dealing with now with the botched Miami investigation and having to give Penn State back their schollies after realizing they overstepped their bounds. This is BS. They know damn well there will never be any paperwork to satisfy them for that time period. Just hand down the penalty and move the fugg on. Sheesh. If you going to shut down SU athletics then do it then if you bad enough. Just do it and move on. Tired of hearing about it. Nothing SU peeps as you call it can do about it. Meanwhile my other alma mater and the other PWCs get richer and pull farther away from the have nots. Sometimes I wonder how invested is the NCAA concerning FCS football schools and low resource institutions overall. I think they would like all of us to fold up and go away. Less for them to worry about.

Looks like it. Like I said, the NCAA has seen how bad it was under previous leadership. They know damn well there is no way to recoup paperwork that was never collected in the first place. That's what I don't understand. You supposed to be looking FORWARD to make sure it don't happen again. Well their compliance guy they recommended was so strict about it, he went back relooked at all the players records that came 3 and 4 years back or more and if he didn't like something he had them sit until he was satisfied.

So they can't say nobody is watching the store. Albeit it was not the way we wanted it go this fall with all the overzealous double checking at the last minute. But hey if it had to be, it had to be. Now it seems like it just some folks in the NCAA office with nothing better to do. Make a decision.

Obviously, this is not good. The want Southern to re-certify each player during this period.

Yep. Sometimes I wish we would just say fugg the NCAA. We closing down athletics period. But that ain't a popular decision. It is obvious to me that unless you are a Power 5 school. The NCAA ain't trying to do anything fast on decisions.

Watch how they don't slam UNC basketball and such. It is going to get a slap on the wrist.

JR man, evidently someone keeps telling the NCAA you can find the info. SU should just 'fess up and take the punishment. I know what y'all trying to do.....string it along until the two or three year average catches up and hope the NCAA says okay....y'all good. Man just suck it up like AlaSt and sTu did and get it over with.

Just speculating.....

Speaking from some experience on re-certifying student-athletes a few years after the fact from my previous professional career... if it has taken this long for Southern, there's either a limited or no paper trail on many of these student-athletes in question.

Southern could've certainly hired one of the firms that helps NCAA institutions with this kind of thing to at least evaluate the situation especially as all indications are the University is struggling to put their hand around this thing.

William Broussard. Word of advice. Call Call Bond, Schoeneck & King. They are the industry standard.

Sooooooooo...............sU is STILL on probation even though they said that this was nothing, they would be off soon as the NCAA reviewed their paperwork, their paperwork was legit, etc.....

Well, I wonder when the NCAA is gonna drop that hammer on they asses.
