Southern QB J.C. Lewis quits the team.........

Hold up........How was JC used? You cats kill me. If he had gotten hurt out there running that damn Orlando offense then you would say we put him out there to fail. The only thing fugged up about the situation is the fact that former OC Oliver, Pete and now Orlando decided not to build the offense to suit JC's talents. He got his degree and he did get the chance to start at SU. It is not like he rode the bench his whole career. You mofos want him out there because you think you have a better chance on beating SU. Yall don't care nothing about JC Lewis. This is all rhetoric. Which is a shame. So let me ask you this.......Has Lee performed when called upon by Pete? Why isn't anybody saying they threw Byrd under the bus. He fell further than JC did. Now again, I am a JC fan. I do however realize when you play Qb, it is always what have you done for me lately. More so than any other position. You get hurt and somebody steps up then you get replaced. Ask Drew Bledsoe how that felt in NE. Pete is on the hotseat and he is going to do whatever he has to save his own neck. I tell you what. Let this backup Qb at Michigan start winning and Chad Henne may not see the field again either. Not that I condone it. But like TBJ said, it is what it is. I was not in the room with coach Pete or JC to know how things went from the spring to the summer to now. All us on the outside can see is that he was not at summer conditioning and such while his competition was. Like I said my old man always told me you have to stay a leg up on your competition and not give them any edge. That's how I was raised. So in saying that. Knowing how Pete and Orlando are. I would have been the first mofo there in the summer and I would outshined Lee and Matthews so bad that it would leave no doubt. That's just my competative nature. Doc used to do the same thing in the Jukebox. If you were not there for whatever reason and some other kid got their shine on, then you were in trouble. I am not talking about being in class. I mean like miss summer band camp and isht like that. It is the nature of the beast in sports. Mack Brown did Applewhite much worse than what happened to JC. Simms sucked at QB. Applewhite was much better and even the Texas fans knew it. At least Lee is looking good.

Your coach has no choice but to start Oliver. Rutland looked horrible out there.

man what did GR tell you about this kinda crap

man what did GR tell you about this kinda crap

Sorry GR,

JSU sucks.
Your Qbs suck
Don't pretend JSU folks care about JC Lewis......yall don't.
Yall aint that good.

Is that better?

BTW, did I say JSU sucks today? If not.........they suck.

Carry on

Yep they did.
The sad thing is that JSU folks on this board will not admit that even the late Coach Carson was beginning to come under fire because he had not beat SU since 95 and they backdoored the SWAC title in 96 with the help of TxSU one November evening in BR :upset:.
Some folks on the homefront I know think that helped take a toll on Big Daddy and he kept being sick quiet to keep doing his job to prove he could win the SWAC again. Po Hughes was just a casualty in all of that. He never thought he would be the HC at JSU. Such a nice guy too. But hey they even treated WC Gordon bad in the end as well. The best coach they had since Big John Merritt before he left for Tn State.

Aw comeon now JR
Your smack has gotten weaker and weaker.
First you start lying and then you try to get unnecessarily dirty. Now the JSU fans done gave Carson colon cancer huh? Guess you and Suge got the same logic. Oh well. After you keep calling for Petes head wishing for him to be fired after this season in favor of LC, Im sure Pete will die of some untimely unfortunate disease. This is so sad of you. Never thought you would stoop to this, but you are an immoral SU grad...cant expect more.

GR dont care about JC
I told you he was not talented last year
Any QB behind Lee cant be that good.

My point is what it is
It just takes you and your cronies years to catch up with what GR said about 2 years ago. the kid is a D3 QB at best. GR told you that after the 2004 season. If he were not true, GR would have told you so.

Uh where did you read that I said the fans gave him Cancer. I said he kept it under wraps and was still trying to prove himself. Man I aint lying because before JSU fans knew Coach was sick, there were many calling for his head. One of them wanted to be coach at JSU. Now tell me I am lying about that. I don't have to lie to kick. See you are from Vicksburg and just got familiar with JSU politics from your school days till now. I lived it bruh. I may have went to SU, but everybody else in the circle of family and friends for the most part are long time JSU alums or supporters. I know how and who has said things about yall coaches. You are a johnny come lately Tiger. Big Daddy seat was getting warm and you know it. Yes it was unforturnate he got sick. No the fans did not make him sick. But he was feeling some pressure before he did.

Pete can run his progam as he chooses... perhaps B. Lee is the better player (at least in the minds of the coaches) and therefore it would be unfair to him (Lee) not to have him as the starter.

Nevertheless... JC Lewis is a scholar/athlete and (from what I have heard) a class young man. You can't have enuff of those type kids in your program. I would never let that young man "walk"... Even if he wasn't in my plans, I would still make sure he was a part of this team. There is a "workaround" to any situation, but those in position of authority has to have the desire and vision to make it happen.

#1. Be honest and upfront with Lewis...let him know that he has been beaten out for the starting spot but that you still valued him as a member of the team.

#2. Make concessions to his class schedule (in other words, understand that he ain't gonna be on the field for practice or in meetings on certain days). He's not gonna start nor is he #2 on the depth chart...but you want him there when available because he's still on the team.

#3 Give him a copy of the film breakdown (opponent's defense)...you've copied it anyway so what's wrong with having a copy of it available to all your qb's. Hell, he and B. Lee (and the others) would watch the film during their "downtime" and discuss things. It would have greatly benefited Lee (and others) while also making JC feel like a part of the team.

#4. On game day, give him a baseball cap and let him be your other set of eyes on the field. He knows the jag's offense and he knows how to read defenses. His "advice" to B. Lee when he comes to the sideline would be invaluable.

That's just some things I would have tried... maybe Pete did those things. But (no smack) Pete has a reputation of not caring for his former players. Don't know if it's justified or not...but I haven't found many who had complimentary things to say... Not one and I know many!

Did James Bell kill Superman? Yes or no.

Did JSU throw Hughes away like a dirty butt ragg because he couldn't win a championship with Superman?

Dude, this is in no correlation with the way JC is being or has been treated. Kent was STILL the starting QB. JC was currently 3rd or 4th on the depth chart.

Hughes was a coach on a contract. JC was a student on scholarship that had gotten hurt, but had healed and was trying to graduate.

You know this time last year, you and the other JAG's that have re-appeared were working on your last week posting on this board before you all turned magician and disappeared don't you.:lmao:

I do agree with your post MB. I would have tried my best to keep JC around and would have been honest with him if Pete didn't. We are all speculating that part. I do know Orlando is a mind game mofo so I would not be shocked if JC did not get told everything. I don't know that Pete doesn't have many players who don't like him since he does have Nivens, Joesph and Frederick on his staff. Also Graves played for him. I think Pete is just like Doc was. He has his picks and chooses of who he likes and the rest could care less about him. Some of us revere the black man......Many that came through the Juke do not. Only difference is Pete is stand offish and Doc isn't. But I can tell that if both of them men don't like you then it aint nothing you can do about it. One of the reasons I am hard on Pete. Doesn't seem he cares to be buddy buddy with his ex players. Not saying he has too. But sometimes that can go along way with helping you recruit.

I also think in this situation that Orlando got in Pete's ear more so. Pete may have wanted JC around. But I aint so sure about Orlando. JC was not Orlando's type of Qb. Oliver was the one who kept saying if you think Richard and Ricks were good wait until you see JC. You could tell he was Oliver's choice. But Oliver did not help with the playcalling and then once Orlando got back on staff. I knew those 2 wouldn't be able to co-exist. Out goes Oliver in mid season last year and in goes Orlando right around the time JC is hurt. I said to some folks who know me. JC is in trouble. Orlando likes those very athletic Qbs. Ask Jacoby. People blame Pete for Jacoby leaving. Hell it was Orlando. Orlando ripped him up so bad after the NW State game in 98 that the poor kid couldn't take it no more. Reason why? Sam George was back from sitting out in 96. 97 team was so dominant that Jacoby never got pushed by Sam. But 98 we were good but not great even though we won the SWAC and HB. So in went Sam George who was fast and had a canon arm. Height was his only downfall. So none of this is new when Orlando is the OC. He is just hard on Qbs. Funny how folks say it fugged up when the ole ball coach has done it his whole career. Spurrier is wicked on Qbs. Will bench them in a NY minute. Fuggs them up so bad that they suck in the NFL. LOL

So beans what did they do to JC in the spring? If I recall nobody came out of the spring designated to be the #1 Qb. Pete even said publically that he would not name a starter until the end of summer camp after the spring. I really believe that JC not being at summer conditioning with the other Qbs caused him a chance to compete. My only thing is whether Pete and Orlando told him it would be in his best interest to show up for that. Since it is against NCAA rules to demand that or hold any type of official practices. Most schools do kinda require the kids to be around in the summer using summer school as the excuse. Now I don't what was said to JC and that's where my doubt in Pete and Orlando arises. But knowing the game, like I said, if I was JC I would have just shown up this summer early if I got any vibe that those mofos were leaning towards Lee or Matthews from the spring. But that is just me. I do not know the dynamics of what the Staff promised or did not promise those kids.

Exactly!! Lee and Matthews worked all spring and summer came back in the fall fit and ready to go. JC didn't do that. This is a competitive sport and if you snooze you lose. There was serious competition going on and JC missed out. I could see if he came back fit and actually pressed for the top spot but unfortunately he didn't. JC was visibly out of shape.

It is what it is... I just hope we don't have drama now that Kerlegan's back. Broadway has him listed as ATH (which he is) but he will also get some snaps at qb. Despite the successes that Landers has had...many still don't give him props as a qb. I'm not one of those but that's because I like pocket passers at qb.

That's not to say that I don't like Kerlegan...cuz I think he's the SHAT! But his snaps at qb would be as a change of pace (and to take advantage of his skills and SPEED!!!!!!!!!!!!). But with me...he has so much upside as a receiver and opens up so much for us in that regard. We shall see!
