Southern moves Jackson State game to Miss.

Moving this game might be good for financial reasons, but it messes with the ebb and flow that makes this a great rivalry. Every couple of years this rivalry gets kick started by a big win where the location played a big role.
- In 89 it was SU ending our 4 yrs SWAC winning streak at memorial, followed by us killing them at their homecoming the following year.
- In 95 we gave them their only loss and silenced them by playing "the show" for an entire quarter at memorial, they returned the favor the following year at Mumford(aided by a mysteriously wet field and some cut brake lines).
- In 98 you had the mysterious clock malfunction that aided them in Mumford, in 97 and 99 you had packed houses and an electric atmosphere at Memorial.
- In 2006 you had Comegy winning in overtime in the first "white out" game at memorial, then following it up the next year at Mumford after calling out SU fans for being "hostile".
These are just a few examples - I could go on. But with this rivalry, the Mumford/Memorial aspect played a large role in enhancing it. Playing in NO for 3 years put a damper on the entire thing, playing in memorial every year will have the same effect IMO.

Bottomline........SU and especially Baton Rouge, is gettin pimped big time.
I know some of you guys can't be this subjective so as not to see this.
Hell, Northpark, Wal-Mart, beer and alcohol stores, MetroCenter, the clubs, restaurants, hotels, State Fair, fuel stations, venders in and around Memorial and the Jackson Metro area in general, will benefit tremendously from these games, without having to give up much in comparison to what they'll profit.
This also benefits JSU fans who live less than two hours from the stadium.
This benefits Comegy and the team due to homefield advantage.
It benefits the band, it benefits those folks who'd otherwise not travel to that Scotlandville environment.
I could go on and on, but I won't.

I wouldn't call it pimped per se' but I would call it DUMB AZZ decision making on the parts of the powers that be. Clayton and LaFleur saw the stadium capacity and got greedy, in hopes of packing the stadium. Now, being that (yes I am about to say it) everyone is in a recession, folks aint gonna travel nor spend the money to travel like they did when the game was in New Orleans. I stated earlier, Piyush Jindal(another iggnant mofo) is cutting budgets left and right so why, and I do mean WHY, move money from one state to the other? I'm sure he knows the Nation travels. He, along with our DUMB AZZ Board Chair and AD knows this. This game is the BIGGEST home game next to Homecoming. (Rhetorically) So why move the game?
It just doesn't make sense. Keep the money at home. You just added 2000 plus extra seats, why not pack Mumford?
I'm sure every city could use extra $$ in their budgets. Business and vendors too, but it pisses me off, dumb azz Clayton and LaFleur don't see how they're pissing off Baton Rouge and the Nation in the process.

Really, I thought Clayton and LaFleur would just flirt with moving the game and just decide to raise the ticket prices by $10 per game or by $15 for the JSU game. I'm quite sure that people would gladly pay an extra $15 if they knew the only other option would be moving the game to Jackson. $15 x 22K = $330,000 extra. I don't see how moving the game can net them more than that. Plus the Scotlandville community wins out. They would have been geniuses.
Now they run the risk of a fanbase they may not travel to game out of sheer spite. I gave them too much credit, though. What a couple of dumbasses. :smh:

There will be an all out war going on in Dallas between GSU and PV on the same day of the JSU and SU game, For the Jags not planning on attending the JSU/SU game in Jackson you all are more than welcomed to come see the 3rd most attended football game in the SWAC only behind the Magic City and Bayou Classic and the overall 4th most attended HBCU football game period!Some Jags i already talked to are making plans to come to Dallas as i type!:idea::idea::idea::idea:

If Jackson and Southern U is winning, you can bet on 50-60,000 folks in Jackson. The rivalry is one of the most fierce in BCF. Don't let the issue with having to play in Mumford East for a couple of years as Opposed to Mumford Central fool you...........The Nations will not leave the team hanging. The administration will get the message in another way..........

I'm not going to say nothing on that matter, both SU and JSU coaching staffs suck @ss, i might just hit up that GSU/PV game, at least you have a better feeling both of those teams will give you a good game! The SU/JSU game hasn't reached pass the 45,000 mark in years and i don't expect it to, with bs going on! I'm not sugarcoating sh!t!:upset:
