Southern Football Notes pt2: 2007

Re: Richardson

Dec maybe to late..........

BTW,,,,,,,,Darren Clark in less than a full season was been sent up from rookie ball to a-ball....

I read this Saturday and how can The Superior not get the construction projects off the ground? Facilities will not help some programs but for SU it would?

No lights on the practice field and old dengy offices. How could you upgrade the pressbox and scoreboard and not add dressing rooms.

A coaches office should be something to see. Petes got a lot of hardware and should have a nice place to display it.

Pete has some real gripes. In my opinion.

Thing is that Pete only started complaining about facilities AFTER he got his raises. Had he taken care of his coaches with pay raises then maybe he could have kept "some" of the good ones. But it ain't the facilities that got Pete in trouble... it was his reliance on transfers and props instead of recruiting like he found when he got here (despite what's said about GK, he could recruit). In the early years, he had Kaiss and Cole who recruited well...same thing with Singletary. But Richardson didn't do enuff public appearances to establish a relationship with the locals. It's hurt him in recruiting.

Damn a Grambling man with the gospel here ..... still no reason not to win this year. He had the same facilties in 1999 and 2003. I understand he or any SU coach needs them, but like a certain Alabama coach, he should have pounced on those when he was winning constantly.

Mike you remind me of my boy who's entire family went to Alcorn except his sister(Former Miss Capital City Classic) and him. They are JSU alums but I think there hearts are with the Corn. That's where they grew up.

JR comes to mind as well.LOL He wears columbia Blue but man when he hears Get Ready it takes him back to his childhood.

LOL. Well most of my family are JSU folks. I was raised in a JSU household. A few Alcorn people here and there. But you are right I was raised rooting for JSU football growing up and cheering for the Boom. No doubt about it. Hell I can still play Get Ready the 80's Callaway HS version on my trumpet. LOL. I am also a true Sippian/Jacksonian and when SU is not playing for the championship, I would rather see JSU, Alcorn or Valley win the SWAC. But don't get me wrong it gives me great pleasure to see SU beat JSU. I bleed gold and blue through and through with just a little scarlet and grey mixed in. LOL.

Re: Richardson

If Southern has a good season, 8-3 or 9-2, Coach Richardson should be given a two or three-year contract to finish his career. If Southern finishes 6-5 or worse, the Jags should move on. Coach Richardson is an excellent coach but he is 63.

Nobody ever mentions the team works out in a state of the art weight room, in the mini dome, that opened last September.

Exactly. I guess the next thing is it is too far for the players to walk too from the dorm. LOL.

SU has ever piece of weight equipment Lsu has. Since when did a new building to put the weights in, help any team win games. The only thing a new building is good for is recruiting. With that being said them mofo's better start construction in Oct  .

Instead of concerning about weight rooms, looks like we need more classrooms......:shame::shame::shame:

SU don't need more classrooms ..... these kids need to get off their arse and go to class like the rest of us did, period. People look up to them, especially, and they are letting their team down. Neither one of thse kids practiced though so other than depth, we are still in the same spot we were yesterday.

Funny part is if we can still get through the season and the SWAC, what excuse will they throw up to us then?

Re: Richardson

Get real Phrat. Doug got a better job. Rob retired. Spears....well...he was fired.

Doug would be still coach today if he had remained... it was simply a matter of a guy being offered a better job, more money, and a chance to leave before he went postal on administrators who were "interim" and clueless as to the importance of Grambling football to the athletic budget and overall school recruitment of students.

Spears was gone regardless of the Bayou Classic outcome...but I wish him well, he was successful as a head coach. Unfortunately, things didn't work out for him long term at Grambling.

Yall bastids forced Coach Rob to retire. And if Doug hadn't left I believe there were charges and accusations coming down the pipe, no pun intended. And Spears was supposed to be yall savior?
