But the new guy's record is not without blemish.

Texas State University in San Marcos fired LaFleur in March 2004 after the NCAA Division I Committee on Infractions put the school on three-years probation.

LaFleur took over the athletic department in 2001.

It was under his watch that investigations discovered that 135 student athletes had misused $73,845 in scholarship money between 1997 and 2001, according to Texas newspapers and press releases from Texas State.

Also, the NCAA cited the university because its football coach in 2003 held mandatory practices during the West Texas summer in excess of the NCAA rules, the reports showed.

LaFleur, who has 16 years of experience in college athletics, could not be reached for comment Friday.

I know the other candidate he was up against but score a win for the Chancellor....I remember when he hired that smooth talking coach at San Marcos..he had them practicing for hours and got ran out after 1 year....

someone got stroked for this hire

I'm glad they picked the right guy at the right time with the renovation in the Endzone and everything else I think that he will be alright.

He briefly led the Huston-Tillotson College's program in Austin, Texas, in 2004.

The panel gave preliminary approval to LaFleur. He heads the athletic department at Chicago State University, a post to which he was appointed in October 2004.

2004 was a hell of a year for LaFleur!!!

Something's not right with this dude. :smh:

I guy that has bounced around to 3 different programs in one year does not make you say hmmm????
If all that you guys have posted is true, why did they hire him and the competition must have been awfully bad.
CONNECTIONS?????

True??? Where you think we got his employment background from?

Have you noticed the REAL Jaguar posters haven't posted on this thread. If they liked him this thread would have at least been on it's fourth page by now. It's been three days that this post has been posted and only two Jaguars responded?

Where's JR and JRock when you need them?

Coming out of NCAA infractions and bouncing between 3 differing programmes in the same physical year?

I just KNOW Southern could've done better than this. I hope he doesn't sabotage this programme while it's @ it's hey-day. :smh:

Come on out "true" Jags and give us the skinny mane. (bd, j03, jrocka, jr, znspr, journ, ...)

When you don't know sh*t about a person's background, you speculate and believe everything you read, especially if it comes from the white man. :swink:

So he didn't work at HT? Or Chicago State? Or Texas State?

Oh well, when they saw his last name was LaFleur they stopped right there. "Hey everybody, according to his resume, he's creole. I think we should hire him and maybe he has an extreme case of sunburn."

NCAA infractions leaving a programme (essentially leaving it in a miniscule chaos of sorts)?

Is that hearsay too?

C'mon now LaCumba. I know you know better than this. (c Panthro 2005) Can't spin this one. :smh:

Can you explain to us why Texas State, HT and Chicago State hired him, since you know him so well? :smh:

here's the key to working at SU..you know the right folks, your background means nothing...

My area is in the sciences. Give me the facts. If they have said things that are not true then say which ones and state the truth of that point.
Why was he hired as compared to the competition?
Was he fired? Did he resign to get a soter penaty for the school.
Give me facts please.

My theory is proven. When you got LaCumba only defending this garbage, SU is in trouble.

With whom? Is dude from UH still ruining...oops I mean running (typo) your program?
