Southern at Texas Southern Game Thread: 6:00pm CT

Southern U quote of the weekend:

Can’t give it up

“Every time quarterback Noah Bodden looks like he’s ready to be replaced, he somehow manages to battle back from the brink. He was off to another bad start, and benched. Once again his second half was completely the opposite of his first. He caused a safety with an intentional grounding in the end zone and on his next snap ties the game. It’s hard to keep a rollercoaster pace like that going, but ride it while it lasts.”

Mane after that safety and with less than 2 minutes remaining in the game and after the announcers had given SU their last rites and lauded TSU for their efforts and their "win" in that game being a mark of a new era of winning...I turned to another channel.... and several hours later ...😳

SU never gave up, I applaud them for that, but SU really needs to improve the offense. It's a struggle and looks sad
Yeah the offense is sad. We will be in for a rude awakening if the OC doesn’t fix this issue by Saturday. These next two weeks will determine our faith if we were to win the west

Oh wow. Dang.
We didn't blitz yall much if at all during the LDC. Every game is different, I get that. However for this game, using the blitz against southern would've put their oline much more tired from 3rd-4th quarter. The staff seemed as of they were coaching not to make a mistake. That way of coaching won't get you well over .500 a season for long.

For someone who played on NFL defenses, Dishman has zero idea what a blitz is as a coach or why it's necessary. Smh
It is worse than that C, we would have got a better coach rummaging through a trash can. How is it possible to miss taking a safety instead of punting from your own end zone when your opponent has exhausted all their time outs with 28 seconds left, and you are up by 7? How is it possible, when during the very same quarter your defense got two points off of a safety? Since when is it riskier to kickoff than punt when given a choice? Since when is it considered favorable to opt out of flipping the field on your opponent, especially, in a tight game with less than half a minute to go?

That 3 and 4 man rush y'all had was more than enough against that obese slow weak PV OL. Didn't realize that was ineffective against SU and probably others as well. Dang.

they got pressure pretty well in the 4th quarter - they did their part in securing the win - not getting a 1st down or additional score on offense in the 4th quarter when needed plus the special teams debacle at the end

remember the defense scored 6 themselves

now SU punter did fake an injury on a 4th and 16 and officials fell for it - look at the video he never was touched

I said blitz, not just pressure. Let's put this into perspective here: it makes the oline do more work in a shorter amount of time. They're going to be gassed. You would've had them badly gassed all through the 3rd quarter while you're ahead. The mistakes would've been worse for them since they didn't adjust much. Then run the ball.

Or like when the TSU player fell to the ground acting like he was injured which resulted in the the refs reviewing that fumble call. The call ended up being reversed. lol

I’m surprised nobody brought up the fact that those officials were cheating their miserable behinds off. That shiznick was an utter disgrace. It’s one thing to not complain and have pride, but a totally different thing to not call out attempted murder and act like your lying eyes didn’t see it.

You all won, the refs cheated, Dishman should have took a safety. That's the narrative. Good luck to both teams on their next game.

With as much holding as y'all did? Man, we were the ones being cheated on.
