Miss. bill would ban restaurants from serving obese customers

JACKSON, Miss. - A state lawmaker wants to ban restaurants from serving food to obese customers ? but please, don?t be offended.

He says he never even expected his plan to become law.

?I was trying to shed a little light on the number one problem in Mississippi,? said Republican Rep. John Read of Gautier, who acknowledges that at 5-foot-11 and 230 pounds, he?d probably have a tough time under his own bill.


More than 30 percent of adults in Mississippi are considered it obese, according to a 2007 study by the Trust for America?s Health, a research group that focuses on disease prevention.

There are big folks everywhere, but there is a high percentage in Mississippi. I think it's more to do with the WAY we eat. Not only do we eat a lot of unhealthy food, but there are buffets in almost every town! Ryan's, Fire Mountain, Barnhill's, a few Golden Corals, big buffets at every Casino, tons of Chinese buffets, and of course, the local fav... The Country Fisherman...
 
I mean come on now folks. This is Sippi we talking about. It ain't no surprise to see this law.

I think the bill is a bad thing, but the concept of controlling obesity is not. I would just hope that someone could come up with a more sensitive approach to be proactive about obesity that folks would want to participate in and not be forced to participate in

If it was a bill from Bama or Ga I wouldn't be surprise either. The only difference between the three is the name of the state. No different from 1900 or 2000 in all three. Well Ga does have Atlanta which is the king of the USA but you other two are just :smh:

Now that a bill, (has no chance of passing), has been introduced that will hit EVERY FAMILY by banning fat people from eating at a restaurant I have one question that most of you cracked jokes about whenever I bought it up.

HOW DO YOU LIKE SOMEONE ELSE TELLING YOU THAT YOU CAN'T GO TO A CERTAIN PLACE TO EAT IF YOUR FAT.

McDonald's.......................More cheering making restaurant's do shat by law that there was no need for.
PC Speech..................Don't like a word or the wrong group say's something, (black men), just demonize the person into submission.
Smoking.................Wether you like it or not, everybody was made to cater to people that have a choice to either wrok at the place or wether to spend your money there and ya'll also cheered when businesses started looking at what people were doing at their homes in relation to that.
And on and on.

This is a stupid law submitted by the usual small town dumb-arse but why all the laughing and disagreement now.
