The clip i nice but i've seen it many times, seems as though it gets posted on a yearly basis! By the way you meant World-Reknown not world renoun, world reknown is a term that JSU's band is not! Has JSU band ever did constant or even one performance overseas's? Can you purchase JSU paraphernalia in Cali or New York? No! So how dare you mention JSU and world reknown in the same sentence! JSU has done only two major events and both were in the U.S.! Only 4 Bands have world reknown status and that's SU,FAMU,GSU, TNSU! Howard is a maybe just because of their university!

You sound stupid.... I was in New York last year attending my nephews high school football game, and the marching band in Brooklyn, New York. Most of the students in the band were non-African Americans, they entired the stadium playing get ready. You can ask any African American band student in American have they heard of the Sonic Boom of the South and most will say yes. That makes the Sonic Boom reknowned. Damn the J-Settes were feautured in Vibe Magazine back in March, Vibe magazine is published world wide. JSU has a large alumni base in Chicago, St. Louis, Atlanta, Memphis, Birmingham, Detroit, Florida, and etc.... and some of those alumni marched in the boom, just as I did. Actually I think the Sonic Boom's is more famous than SU and TNSU. JSU band is in the NCAA Hall of Fame, SU is not. :lecture:

You still don't get it! World Reknowned means known over the world, not just limited to the U.S.! Dumb Azz! The Sonic Boom hasn't done a Presidential Inaugural Parade, Super Bowl, Sugar Bowl, etc. so you all have a long way to go to even cover America soil, World Reknown my azz!

When did JSU band make the NCAA Hall of Fame? I must have missed that one.

I will not get into the debate of who's band is more famous. I think alot of HBCU bands got cred with FAMU and Grambling probably being the most known. SU certainly holds it own as does JSU. I would say since Doc Greggs was considered such a legendary band director and is an owner of a NAACP Image Award himself that would put SU band right up there with famous band programs if just because of him. But I will let you youngsters argue who is more famous. LOL. Let me go get my popcorn. This should be good.:lol:

JR, the Sonic Boom has been in the HOF since 2003.....us and FAMU were inducted at the same time when we played each other at the Circle City Classic.....the only other band among the ranks is GSU

People from SU are just jealous because SU don't perform outside SWAC & New Orleans Saints football games and the Baton Rouge Christmas parade :lol: . No matter what you say, the Boom was enshrined in 2003 NCAA Hall of Fame, along with FAMU and Grambling, and Southern was not.

Man, I just be lol at some comments on both sides. So it is all good. I am happy for everybody who gets to perform some where outside the conference and gets POSITIVE exposure.

Just missed the HOF induction announcement is all. I knew ole Gram was in. Didn't realize the NCAA had rolled FAMU and JSU in there during the CCC classic in 03. That's a good deal.

Yea u must have missed it.. cause it certainly happened. :lol: But I think your school has to have AT LEAST ONE player inducted into the NCAA Hall of Fame before your band is even considered.... *snicker*....

BTW, if Mel Blount aint in the NCAA HOF then I don't know why. Also I guess I can expect Valley and Alcorn bands to be inducted soon since Rice and McNair definitely are NCAA HOF athletes. I guess AW Mumford being in the NCAA HOF means nothing either. LOL.

Nah,we dont march in parades nobody was out there to watch, because our musicians/band members are busy performing for stuff such as
United Negro College Fund's 26th Annual Martin Luther King Jr. Birthday Celebration and the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation for our President, Barack Obama, during the inauguration.
