Its crazy....
JSU plays with Power then its JSU wants to be Southern (But JSU sounds Better than Southern.)
Bama St, TxSU plays with power but its ok with SU'ers b/c SU people say they sound sloppy with it. Therefore their Power is not a threat to SU. So its okay for them to Blow.
But JSU plays with Power and its Clean/Balanced then its time to BLOG and Complain about it.
This year, PVU has Power.... and aint nobody saying crap about it.
Lil Ole Alcorn is Small but they're playing with Power all SU says is "They SOUND Good Way to go Alcorn" (not to mention if Alcorn was JSU size then they would be just as loud) but yet they're exempt!
Valley is tiny but they play with Power! exempt!
NSU plays with Power. Exempt!
NCAT plays with Power. Exempt!
Shit my highschool band is mostly white and they try to play with power and they dont know what a "Southern BR" is at ALL! lol
Taylor and his staff is Long Gone. If they wanted JSU to stay the same size, keep the exact same sound then they should have kept they assez at JSU!
Everytime a Boom clip is posted on the net those Two SU nuts sign in and Critique them as if they're the band-gods! they only do it to the Boom. (why? B/C the Boom Sounds Better)
They break it down section by section. They spit out 30plus years of Boom HIstory! They say all negative things.
Yet and still this is the band that SU lives to play against year after year.
This is the band that SU anticipate playing the most. This is the band that the band members talk the most noise to.
Get over it people: It speaks volumes that JSU can stay a TOP band regardless of who the Leader/BD is. SU's band has not had the constant change of leadership like the Boom.
But the BOOM remains a Top Band regardless if they're playing Soft and Sweet Like Taylor Taught them Or if they're Powerful and Groovy like Liddell/Murry taught them.
The BOOM is a versitile Band. They're great with power or without!
Can SU say the same? HELL NO!
Let SU change directors (two more times) and arrangers.... and instrumentation. (less brass, more woodwinds) then see what happens. The sound will change.
I just find it funny b/c SU get mad when somebody is beasting with power and sounds dayum good with it. lol
And the Boom doesnt give a rat azz what you (FAMU and SU) think about them. Lets just say if the JSU sounded the way they did in 1988. SU would still complain...
*Man they aint blowing.
*They aint got no Baritones. Where they at, I cant hear them!
*I can't even hear them from across the field
etc... and all that jazz! smh
Naw don't lay that blame on the Great "S" ... Ain't no confusion... JSU been OVERBLOWING.. Why do yu think me and Blade BEEN saying yall sound like an over grown New Orleans public highschool?..
Actually, Taylor's band had power. JSU didn't start to lose it's power until around 1998 when that dude from SU tried to exert his influence to ruining our band. Some people on here only have band history that goes back 10 years. If anything has changed, it's the type of songs we play. You can't compare R&B and ballads to the rap schitt we play today. Rap should be played a certain way as should all music. That is why to me, SU can't play R&B and FAMU can't play rap. JSU can play it all.
Crit (or another moderator) should move the clips to a new thread and close this one so folks can have a real discussion about the Boom and the Aristocrats.
