Hey, if you think Houston Nutt can coach, then that is simply your opinion. To each his own.

He's a good defensive coach, but don't know jack about offensive schemes, except run, run and run some more.

Reminds me of that stupid azz former JSU coach who's name rhymes with hell. The only difference is, at least nutt knew defense.

It doesn't matter what the team's record was while Mustain played. They weren't winning those games because of anything he did. They woulda won those games without him. Tampa Bay won the Super Bowl with Trent Dilfer at QB. Coaches see who ain't producing and search for the right personnel. Nutt knew how far it was gonna take 'em. Can't beat the LSU's, Floridas and USC's with garbage QBs.

Uh Robber Dilfer won the SB with Baltimore...........Brad Johnson was Qb at Tampa Bay. But I get your point though.

You can't beat the LSUs, Florida's or USC with GOOD QBs. Its going to take more than that to beat them so Arkansas was going to lose those games ANYWAY!

What made him think CASEY DICK (The 3rd string QB) was going to get the job done (Who by the way is 2-3 as a starter :SNICKER:). He (Nutt) basically ruined his career, put Frank Broyles into retirement and made Arkansas the laughing stock of college football over CASEY DICK.

All he had to do was finish the year out with Mustain at QB. It isn't rocket science and Mitch is young and country. Hand off to McFadden and pass every now and then, but hand off to McFadden.

Nutt determined to convert personal third and long

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. -- Houston Nutt has the job he dreamed of as a boy, he has had it for nearly 10 years, and how many of us can say that?

He is coming off his best season as head coach at Arkansas, a season that included 10 wins and an SEC West championship. His best player, tailback Darren McFadden, not only finished second in the Heisman Trophy voting but also is returning for the 2007 season.

In sum, Nutt should feel great about his career. The reality is something else entirely.

"This has been the toughest year of my life, there's no question," the 49-year-old Little Rock native said. "There's no question about that. ? You're coming off a 10-win season, you have the same conference record as Florida, 7-1, the national champions, and we're talking about, 'Hmmm, you might not make it.' You know what I mean? It doesn't go together."
No one in any position of power at Arkansas says Nutt might not make it. Both chancellor John A. White and retiring athletic director Frank Broyles remain firmly behind Nutt, who is 67-44 (.604) with three SEC West titles in nine seasons.

Here are quotes about the article.

Houston Nutt is a good coach and a great man. The Arkansas program is flourishing because of him. Hog fans - LAY OFF. You don't know how good you've got it until it's gone! Enjoy being a power in the SEC. You have a great program and running off the coach will only do your program harm.

The lies an deceit will not end until Houston Nutt is gone. It's not just Springdale, but a lot of other True Razorback fans who are beginning to see the light and realize that Houston Nutt is a vastly inferior coach. Mitch Mustain will win the Heisman at USC, and will probably be playing on Sunday....meanwhile, Arkansas, with Houston Nutt will remain mired in mediocrity....but that seems to be OK for the Nutt fans. I can assure you that it is not OK for us true Razorback fans and the battle to save Razorback athletics WILL continue!!

The problem with this article is that it addresses incidents that are long in the past (almost 6months ago)for almost ALL razorback fans, including myself. The most recent development was the firing of Stan Heath, our "stand in" basketball coach. I believe the truth is that Razorback fans are ecstatic about next years season - starting in the top ten with a Heisman Trophy candidate in the backfield, an obviously dedicated coach, and a cupcake schedule ... I smell an undefeated season (unless Florida ruins us again! :))

Arkansas fans are in denial about their place in college football. It is easy to see that the hogs think they are one of CFB's elite teams. They aren't even one of the SEC's elite teams. This guy wins 10 games, plays for the conference title, and your fans are upset with his coaching ability? Exactly who do the hogs fans think they are going to get to come in and coach this program? And even with a new coach, you aren't going to make a large impact on national recruiting.

This guy is overachieving with the talent that he has. Winning, putting players on the next level, and the fans want him fired. A bunch of people who couldn't make a game plan for a rec league game are deciding the fate of coaches on all levels of football. Sad.

Now that point, I don't understand. The SEC produces more talent from top to botttom that any other conference. Unless you are an offensive player, why would you choose USC. They aren't known for putting great defensive guys in the league. I respect USC and they have a great recruiting scheme, and they have a history in college foortball. But I'll take LSU, Bama, UF, Auburn, and Georgia over USC any day. But that's just me.....

USC has done well by NFL standards as well Suge. Not to mention they are more glamorous than the SEC schools. Plus if you have any inkling of doing TV/Film after football........then USC trumps all the SEC schools. Look at their track record from the gridiron to TV...... John Wayne, Frank Gifford, OJ, Lynn Swann, Marcus Allen, Ronnie Lott, now KeyShawn have gone on to TV. So there are alot of benefits playing for the men of Troy. Even during their down years they produced NFL talent. Even defensive wise they have had some success even back to the glory days with Lott, Browner, Dennis Smith, Thurman that played with the Cowboys etc....... Now they have Troy Polalmu in Pittsburgh and that LB in Seattle and Udeze up here in Minnesota, they had Junior Seau who played on average USC teams, they had McGinest. Darry Russell was a stud before being stupid with the Raiders. So they have had their share of 1st rounders on the D side of the ball. So nah, you really can't knock USC tradition of putting out players on both sides of the ball.

It's about the connections you make being a Southern Cal alum.

If you are a college football star, you make connections regardless of what school you attend.

JR, TV and film don't make football. And all those peoiple you named are old and no longer in TV. Hell I could make the same argument for Bama and broadway Joe. I still don't see USC being above the SEC programs that I named. TV and film, I'll give you that, but we are talking about football. They have tradition, and are a top 10 college football all time program. Dfeineatly the best on the West Coast, but prior to Pete Carrol, it had been a long period of teams at USC....just like everyone else has gone through. Lik I said, I respect the program, but I don't fall for th ehype machine of collge footbal analyst that prclaim USC to be the greatest invention in CFB in the last 5-6 years. SEC programs don't have years where Hampton has more players at the combine that they do.

I feel the same way Suge, I respect USC and I think they are a great program but I would rather the SEC any day FOR ME!

We can agree to disagree. But I would rather play ball at USC than any SEC school. You still can not knock the USC pipeline and they have had their share of 1st round picks even in the lean years. You can't compare all the schools in the SEC to just USC. That's not fair to say that. But outside of Florida, LSU and maybe Tn who all have won National titles in the last 10 years who else would you choose over USC? And only Alabama has more history than them. Now I can understand if you said the competition in the Pac 10 is weaker than SEC. But again USC has proved they are not an ordinary Pac 10 school.

Everything happens in cycles and just because you go to a SEC school to play ball doesn't mean you will be a star in the NFL no different than going to USC. Also we are talking about right now anyway. Most kids see USC players heading to NFL, on TV, winning Heisman's and competing for championships. So Pete Carroll has created an aura around that program. Same thing happened with Miami back in the 80s and 90s when they had their run. Then you look at the scene. You get a country boy out to LA and let him see all that and it is a wrap. Not all cats are like you Suge and actually embrace the country life. Some folks love the city lights and all that comes with it. So unless you are born and raised on SEC ball to the point you want to go to one of those schools then USC looks attractive to you. Hell I would rather play football at UCLA(beautiful campus) than any SEC school. But that is me.

I love the football in the South but I have never been enamored with SEC schools. It might be because I grew up in Ms, hating Ms State and Ole Miss thus probably not really liking the SEC. The only BCS schools I would choose in to play for in the South would be Florida State, Miami, Texas and even though they are not in the South technically, I would look at Oklahoma if I was a kid coming out.

If you take Bama out and add Tennessee to this group USC has more All-Americans, Heisman winners and National Championships than the rest of these programs combined. Bama is the only program in the SEC that comes close to the prestiege of USC. Let's face it before Herschel Walker the SEC was Alabama against a bunch of 8-3 and 7-4 programs. If the SEC wants to prove they are superior on the field they can start by scheduling nationally ranked non-conference opponents for home and away games. It's hard for people from other parts of the country to believe you are a better conference with some of the SEC non-conference schedules.

USC is FAR more superior than any SEC football program. I can't believe you even said BEFORE PETE CARROLL, USC wasn't nothing. I just lost respect for your college football knowledge SUGE.

Didn't USC just WHIP Arkansas the past two years? Isn't Arkansas the BEST TEAM in the SEC West? What does that say about USC vs the TOP SEC team?

Exactly, actually Nutt was on LSU's short list after Saban left. Nutt can coach and given the time and players, he will win at Arkansas. Defense builds championships and Nutt knows defense.

He is probably the longest tenured coach in the SEC with 10+ years. I guess he needs another 10 years, right? Not one SEC Championship.

No, LSU was the best team in the west. The fumbled kickoff starting the second half the Florida game cost LSU a national Championship.

Who has the current national championship title? For you to say FAR is overstating USC's superiority over SEC schools.
Evidently, their program's not better than Florida's THIS YEAR or they'd be national champs.

Apparently, USC wasn't better or they would be National champs too. I think the Sears Trophy resides in Gainesville, FL. on an SEC campus. No LSU wasn't better than FL, but they were better than Arkansas the team we are discussing.
