SMH at Alcorn State and Texas Southern ADs

Did the SWAC office even discuss levying fines for schools who elect to do so?

Like I said previously, Duer supposedly advised that conference members not schedule each other, but said he couldn't make them. So with that said, I guess there are no fines involved.

Well clearly there should be at this point so maybe he will bring that to the Presidents to vote on

Not true.

Sam Houston paid us $200K (yes $200K) to play them in Huntsville this season.

And are they returning the game? Hell even if they aren't I find it hard to believe they paid another fcs school that's local $200k. They have to have the dumbest AD on the planet.

Maybe we just have a smart AD.

Maybe we just have a smart A.D.

This just like us to do some crazy stuff like this, have a chance of expanding and making the conference a legit conference, but we pull this crap.

Boy I tell you

Dude you don't get a check for playing another fcs school that's what the return game is for.

Well Tx Terror already point this statement out......

If it is played in Chicago, LA, Etc. Someone will write a check. Think long range & you might approach my wave length.

C Mac would not do this w/o a deal in place.

This is a home and home game. The deal is just to treat this as a regular conference game with each team taking care of it's own travel each year where it will balance out. Alcorn will get more money out of it since they will have more of their fans at their home game than Stu will have paying customers at theirs.

Well PV is getting more than $200K from Sam and it's the 2nd of a home and home with them playing us at our place in 2017 and they are paying us for 2018.

If there are others that end up doing this when they realize Alcorn and stu did it will just show how much that some of us was right when they should have done a 8 game conference schedule instead of this 7 game crap.

Any home game can be moved. It would have to make financial sense.

You are assuming Alcorn will continue to win and TSU will continue to lose.

Our bandwagon fans will get on board if we win.

The conference has a master schedule and each school has it. They know who they play what year and when. Some of the games do get re-scheduled by request to accomadate schools for ooc games.
Just handle PV''s business....We Got This!

Just because he don't believe in the 7 game mandate doesn't mean he can make up his own rules.
There are 125 FCS programs out there, you gonna tell me they can't get 4 of them to play besides the other 9 that are in our conference.

I am confident in our AD and his decisions. As a matter of fact we see eye to eye on this issue. I have never been a fan of being fodder for FBS schools and PWI FCS schools either.

That's cool and all if that's all you want to achieve for your football ball team. Personally I've got confidence it's going to come back and bite sTu in the butt, but that's not for me to decide. Having said that I'm simply not buying it.

We're talking about a guy who just recently said of playing fbs schools were great and that he could see the entire conference moving up to the fbs level in the near future because of it. That tells me something else is going on here.

That is totally different. If we, as a conference, could consistently compete and move up that is something totally different.

Tell me this...what would have happened IF Grambling had beaten Arizona? Would they have been ranked in FBS? It would have accomplished nothing more than bragging rights. Maybe that is enough for some of you.....shrugs.

Clearly you don't fully understand how rankings work. Any time schools are ranked it brings up their power rating along with the conference.

Let's say Grambling , JSU , PV and Southern were all ranked in the top 25 fcs school and out of the four two were either ranked in the top ten or one in the top ten and one in the top 15..

That would push the conference power ratings between 20th and 15th. While Southern or Grambling wouldn’t be eligible to participate in the fcs playoffs JSU/PV would more than likely get an at-large-bid .

The example I just gave isn't a make believe scenario it's what happen every year jsu or Alcorn went to the playoffs because we had no automatic bid.

Again if that's all YOU'RE looking forward too and are happy with your football team not having an opportunity outside of the SCG it's cool, but for an AD as smart as McClelland not to understand the effect his action has on the rest of the conference would simply show he's being selfish and even more of a reason I'm not buying what y'all are claiming his reason are not to mention you're essentially making the Mike Haywood hire a waste .
