Since the JSU/SU game drew only 35,000. Move that game back to Baton Rogue in 2004?

I'M TRYING TO FIGURE OUT EVERYTIME THERE IS AN ATTENDANCE FIGURE CONCERNING jsu IT IS ALWAYS WRONG. SINCE THE SCHOOL REVELS IN THIS AREA I FIGURED THEY WOULD HAVE IT DOWN TO A SCIENCE.
*IT WAS AN UNDER COUNT IN THE DOME LAST WEEK.
*THEY UNDER-COUNTED HOMECOMING BY 20k
*THEY ONLY COUNTED THE PRE-SALE TICKTS.
*THEY NEVER COUNT THE STUDENTS.
*WE HAD 10K TO SNEAK IN.

I'VE SEEN TURNSTILES AT THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI'S STADIUM. BUT YOU GUYS ARE THE EXPERTS.

Dude,

I dont know if you can tell this, but I have no respect for a lie. Im the one who said that there were probably 35K fans there. Like I said, tell the truth and shame the devil.

I just dont understand why Grambling folks is talking mess about attendance figures when yall KNOW you dont support your team with attendance.

Come on man....get real. Go tell that crap to someone that doesnt know any better. And I will leave this topic at that.

Mach, the only problem I have with you is that you were at JSU's Homecoming and the Grambling game. I understand that you are going by the numbers and this is fine but then you have eyes of your own. The attendance for those games were not even close. If they had told me 21K for the Gram game rather than 26K, I would have felt it was low but I could have bought it because there were plenty of empty seats. When they announced 21K for Homecoming, that was ridiculous. There were at least 10K more people at Homecoming than the Gram game. That is the only point that I am making. The records won't change and we have to live with the reported numbers but from what you are saying is that if they had reported that only 40K fans were in Jackson for the SU-JSU game in Jackson that the number reported should override my commonsense.

All I am saying is that I am willing to bet that you can't find another single individual who went to both games who think that the attendances were even close. Let alone flipped the way you "saw" it.

TP,
Why are you even arguing with someone from Grambling about attendance figures. These are the same folks who didn't show up for Eddie's last home game. Even before SU was competative in the SWAC, the SU/JSU game drew large crowds in the 80's. Way more than when GSU came to Jackson.

It is sad when people are cherishing attendance titles over SWAC titles. If Jackson has this big following, why is it that when the even years roll around that Jackson doesn't win the title then. It is really about who they play. If that was the case they would have 20, 000 each time they played. And we know that is not true. When JSU played Txsu in 2000 it was barely 6,000 people in the stadium, including the bands and players. That same year or the yer before they had 3,000 at the Capitol CC. I won't even bring up the New Haven games and the Pine Bluff games. Face it when GSU & SU come to jackson along with home coming and if you are the home team at the CCC/SHC that is your attendance. JSU is in the capitol of Mississippi and you are taking shots at a school that has a city population of about 6K. How sad!!!!

Please there are always plenty of people in that stadium when the weather isn't extreme like it was at the Alcorn 2000 game. 6,000? Please don't even try that lie.

Why the fixation?

I'm still trying to figure why Gram is sooo concerned about the issue. I saw Grambling's name nowhere on this thread title, yet ya'll flock to it. If you don't believe we draw well, then so be it. Fine. But when an issue doesn't even concern you mind ya own damn business.

They can't. They wouldn't be thier normal lame selves if they did that.

The way JSU kick the schit out of SU. They shouldn't show it on BET. :smh:

Someone please send a QB to SU.:bawling: :

Not taking sides here.....

but I will make 1 correction!

Capital City Classic 2000, there were a little over 10,000 present in that stadium (even with the extreme weather conditions).

I'm out.

my $.02

Well, I know there was an undercount at the 2001 CCC. The Clarion-Ledger reported 49,000-something as attendance. MS Veterans Memorial stadium holds approximately 63,000. I was sitting in the "U", and by the middle of the second quarter, there were no empty spaces anywhere in the stadium, plus people were walking around the middle.

So either the attendance was undercounted, the stadium actually does not hold the number of people it's claimed to hold, or a whole lot of people got into the game without passing through the turnstiles. Maybe some of them were broken...

Anyone who thinks GSU game had more people people than homecoming is smoking something. I think this was the first time in the last 3 seasons it didn't rain during homecoming. THe stadium was packed. IT was the crunkest game of the season. It was the only game where I was feeding off the hype of the rest of the crowd. GSU game didn't compare and there certainly weren't a lot of GSU fans at the game.

Uuuuh dude,

JSU has earned the attendance title on odd and even years. Dont let the facts get in the way.

Can you tell me when your team has won an attendance title?

Again, why are you JSU folks arguing with Grumbling on attendance. Grambling-attendance. That's like oil and water mixing. Unless GSU is playing SU or JSU or maybe it's homecoming, they do not even compare to SU or JSU in attendance. Hell one more loss at the BC and they would not even show for that. Like they really have more than 10-15 k in the Dome. SMH.

Back to topic of this post. I am sure SU will consider moving this game back to Mumford as the renovations continue on. By 2004 we should have more seats added. The Press box was done for last year. State of the Art scoreboards are in place now and construction will begin on the expanding Mumford and adding lockerooms. But if things are not ready for 04, then look for the game to be back in NO or maybe Shreveport. Actually Shreveport would not be a bad idea in my mind. I rather play outdoors and tailgate. Just my opinion though.

1. I can't wait for these new scoreboards
2. Shreveport would be a good idea.

I AM NOT TRYING TO COMPARE GSU HOME ATTENDANCE FIGURES. OUR FIGURES ARE FINE IN RELATION TO OUR POPULATION. IF THE ICON WAS LOCATED IN A METROPOLITAN AREA OR A CAPITOL OF A STATE AND OUR NUMBERS WERE LOW THEN YOU WOULDN'T HAVE AN ARGUEMENT FROM ME. BUT WE AREN'T. THE CITY OF GRAMBLING HAS ABOUT 6K AND ABOUT 4K STUDENT POPULATION. 25 TO 30% OF THAT POPULATION IS ELDERLY. OUT OF THAT REMAINING 70%, 20 TO 25% IS UNDER THE AGE OF 17. ALCORN, VALLEY, PV HAVE SMALLER CITY POPULATIONS THAN GRAMBLING. BUT YOU EXPECT GRAMBLING TO HAVE ATTENDANCE FIGURES ALMOST TRIPLE TO THE AMOUNT OF PEOPLE WE HAVE IN THE CITY....

2000 HOME FIGURES FOR JSU.
3,291 VS. NEW HAVEN
9,766 VS. TXSU
9,861 VS. ALCORN (?? who was the home team that year)
15,526 VS. VALLEY
18,177 VS. AAMU

Mach, you are still reaching. The New Haven game you have a point with and you might have the same this year with PV. I am going to assume that 15K meets your standards but the AAMU, TxSo and Alcorn games were all rained out. Sorry but on a good night, Gram can't draw 8K. You only drew 11K for Alcorn. Alcorn drew more than that against UAPB.

NOW IT'S THE WEATHER..... I WAS AT THE TXSU VS. JSU 2000 GAME. IT WASN'T RAINING THAT BAD. NOW YOU HAVE FAIR WEATHER FANS. WITH THE FAN BASE YOU HAVE YOU MEAN THAT YOU CAN'T GET 13K ON A RAINY DAY? NOW THAT'S REACHING.

ALCORN HAD 17K WHEN THE ICON WENT TO LORMAN AND IT RAINED THEN TOO? YET I'VE SEEN 1K AN ALCORN GAME AS WELL SO WHAT'S YOUR POINT. GRAMBLING POPULATION WITH THE STUDENTS IS ABOUT 10K.....AND YOUR POINT IS.

POPULATION SMACK :smh:

Mach,

It didn't rain that bad by game time of the JSU-TSU game. But it stormed all day Saturday. I never made a move until it was game time.

That was the worst weather year for us ever. All our home games were wet. And sadly, many folk stayed home.

LOL@ all of this.
I haven't even looked at this thread in a few days...that's the only reason why i haven't responded. LIKE I SAID BEFORE...Gramblinites..lol. You can fool some of these other folks but you can't fool me. LOL. I was there (the dome) when EDDIE CRIED. That was a dayum shame. When Grambling scores a TD at the Bayou Classic you hear a little pep section. When Southern scores that B*TCH errupts. lol. It's got dayum general knowledge that JSU and SU have the largest followings in the SWAC. You would understand if you were at every JSU home game, but since you aren't i understand. You think yall bring fans to our stadium??????????WHAT. That crowd yall had last year was average for a visiting crowd. It's about the same when UAPB comes. Real avg. Now when SU comes that's a different story. lol. You don't know the first thing about crowd following. I challenge you to come to the game in Jackson next year when we play SU or when we go back to NO or wherever the game is the next year...(maybe back here in Jackson) you'll see how a full stadium looks. Better yet. .... be there when we play yall in a few weeks. lol.

My folks went to Gram. The only game your students go to is the Dallas game.

Just a side-bar g-men......
getImage

WE LEAD THE NATION IN ATTENDENCE EVERY YEAR. lol So, what are you talking about.

and another thing...........(here's a pic from the 2001 CCC)
getImage

NOW USE SOME COMMON-GOT DAYUM- SENSE. LOL.

Your stadium can't even hold our avg. crowd. LOL.
Go sit down somewhere. stop it already!
:lmao: :lmao:

We fill YOUR stadium.....

I'M NOT TRYING TO FOOL YOU. I STATING FACTS AND FIGURES. YOU KEEP SAYING AVERAGE, BUT LOOK AT THE ACTUAL. JSU DIDN'T HAVE 27-29K AT EACH GAME, THEY AVERAGED THAT.

FYI: JSU 2001 HOME ATTENDANCE:
UAPB.........15,500
BAMA..........21,617 (homecoming)
ICON/GSU...25,600
SU..............32,746
ALCORN.....49,873 (CCC)

LIKE I SAID ACTUAL AND AVERAGE ATTENDANCE IS DIFFERENT. AS FAR AS A FOLLOWING... THAT'S REALLY FUNNY. 8,759 AT AAMU, 2,109 AT PV. BUT YOU TRAVEL SO WELL. FACE IT, YOUR FANS AS MOST OTHERSATTEND MOST GAMES BASED ON WHO YOU ARE PLAYING. AND SOME IS BASED ON YOUR RECORD. THERE ARE EXTREME CASES ON BOTH SIDES. OBVIOUSLY MOST HAVE OVERLOOKED THE COMMON SENSE THAT WAS STATED EARLIER..

POPULATION SMACK... :smh:
