Think twice, speak once
The top four teams (and the only four teams with winning records) take the field against each other Saturday.

Grambling State (4-2) vs. Alcorn State (4-1) - 2pm
Prairie View A&M (4-2) vs. Southern (3-2) - 4pm

  • With a Prairie View win and Grambling State loss the SWAC West will have a 3-way tie for 1st place.
  • Southern takes over 1st place in the SWAC West with a win and Grambling loss.
  • Grambling and Southern remain tied for 1st place if they both win.
Alcorn State remains in 1st place in the SWAC East with either a win or a loss.
 
Southern coach Dawson Odums and Prairie View coach Willie Simmons match wits as coordinators

When Prairie View and Southern meet Saturday in A.W. Mumford Stadium, it will be Willie Simmons’ team against Dawson Odums’ team.

It will also be Simmons’ offense against Odums’ defense.

Simmons is in his first season as the Panthers head coach and he serves as his own offensive coordinator. Odums doubles as his own defensive coordinator with the Jaguars.

It’s the first time the two have met since Simmons became a head coach for the first time before this season, but it’s not the first time Odums’ defense has faced Simmons’ offense.

Bad news for you Panther fans...

My kinfolk WR Nick Pitre is out for the rest of the season due to knee surgery.
 
Too bad there is no flexibility in the awful ESPN Television Schedule where neither game is on television, because we had to watch UAPB & Alabama State game that has no effect on the standings in the SWAC. I guess I will watch the GSU and Alcorn St. Game online before my wife and I go out on date night.

We also have North Carolina A&T and Bethune Cookman game that ESPNU will not be showing as well.

Can we get a television contract that will show the games and have the flexibility to show the games we want to see?

I am sure he was. You hate to see that. Always like to see the young folks get a chance to play in front of their home state. How many years of eligibility does he have left? I am assuming he can get a medical redshirt for this season?

He's a Junior this year. Hopefully he can get a medical redshirt which will give him an additional two more seasons.
