Should We Over-turn Rowe vs Wade(spelling)?

What a timely question! Because I don't want my fellow TSPNer to leave ignorant, it's "Roe vs Wade. Now back to the point. My personal opinion is that life begins at conception. I also believe that the father should be offered input in the matter. Most men will say that they don't want their unborn child killed - however, how many go a step further and say," have the baby and I will take it and raise it."

Yes thank you for that spelling correction there. More men are saying that now days,,,,,, well,,, maybe not more black men,, but more men none the less.

Not wanting to start a heated debate over 'when life begins', but.....

TMade's belief is that 'LIFE' begins when the fetus is able to survive UNASSISTED on it's own.

TMade doesn't believe that life starts at conception.

We don't count chickens until they come out of the egg. Why should this be any different?

:look:

tis why, as harsh as it may sound, i refered to unborns as parasites,,, up to a certain point. i don't know when that point is though.

i have to ask you though, is it your opinion that "life" and "a spirit created" is one and the same???? Put another way, are you of the opinion that an unborn doesn't have a spirit until it is separated from the birthing organism and living on its own?

I'm pro choice; however, I think that a woman having an abortion without the "father" having knowledge (at the very least) of the pregnancy is wrong. I feel that the man should know of the pregnancy, and not after an abortion has taken place.

yeah, that would seem only reasonable.

If you have something to say, then say it. Don't delete it.

A woman made the choice of letting a man seduce her.

She made the choice of lettin him hit raw and releasing all in it.

Now she wants to correct her mistakes by making an unborn child pay for her mistakes. (If the condom broke then i understand)

If abortion isn't a form of birth control then what is it? (unless raped or it affects her health) The child should be born.

Question? How can a man tell a woman what to do with her body?

Answer? She didn't get knocked up by herself. She had help. If and when a woman is able to get knocked up by herself then she can make that choice. (Sperm Banks still need male contributions)

Since a woman didn't get knocked up by herself she should not make that choice by herself. Point Blank.

Pro Choice Huh? She made that choice to let a man HIT RAW. Wassup with that!!!???

People are so quick to say it's a womans choice. Why would you wanna kill someone whose only crime was being conceive by a self fish girl. There are other options like A CONDOM or ADOPTION. Both the woman and man are lame if they say that with a condom it doesn't fill the same.

Pro Choice Huh? You all seem to forget that having kids isn't a privalige(Sp) it's a blessing, because everyone can't have kids.

Pro Choice Huh? Abortion is a self fish act. You never know what that child may have been because it never had a chance.

Pro Choice Huh? She had to many choices up until that point. Now she must deal with her choices.

All too often i had girls tell me what if the government said that i couldn't masterbate anymore. That it would be illegal. First off, i didn't and don't need noone to give me what i have. I was born with it. A woman need help to get pregnant(Sp)

Someone needs to step to the plate and NOT make ABORTION a option.

When you lie to someone............They're still living

When you steal from someone........They're still living

But Killing.............

The rub is the unborn. I see many takes here on it being the woman's choice, the man's say or no say,, but I don't see many takes on rather it is actually killing a human being. This is where the clash will come. Religious elements will insist that life (and a spirit) begins when the egg and sperm unite. Does it really or is that just what people rationalize? How do we know? And to make matters worse,, if an unborn is not a life, then why did Scott Peterson get charged with two counts of murder,,, Lacy and the unborn child? and why is that "murder" and abortion is not? I would answer my own question by saying "well, the intent is different",, but is it?

I seriously doubt that. And saying and actually doing it are 2 different things.

No, we should not overturn Roe v. Wade. Criminalizing abortion will not stop it. Women who choose to end their pregnancy will do so; like it was done for many, many, many years. Women with money, power and personal relationships with their physicians have always had the option to abort unwanted pregnancy. Disempowered, poor, no-healthcare-access-having women went to the old lady's house round the corner or down the wooded path in the middle of the night to a shack to have an abortion.

My opinions:

I think abortion is a health and moral choice for a woman to make...theme-wise, my body, my decision.

I think a woman should tell the father that she is pregnant and intends to abort the child. I think it would affect, should affect their relationship, but if they reach an impasse, see theme above.

I think a female child who is pregnant must have her parents permission to have an abortion. Children do not have contractual capacity and parents are responsible for the acts civilly, so if a parent is responsible financially, emotionally, and otherwise for what children do, then I think it is an abomination that the parent not be notified that there daughter will undergo a medical procedure.

I think life begins at conception.

I think abortion is murder.

I think it is nobody business, especially a president, a governing body, a D.A., and any other political subdivision, if I choose to have an abortion. Further, I don't want to have any part in any other woman's decision to end her pregnancy. I am pro-choice, pro-privacy. I only want folk up under my dress that I invite there.

Answer to the original question is NO! I am a God Fearing Christian. That being said, Why is everyone focusing on overturning Roe vs Wade, because it is an issue that divides and can give one political group points over another.

My question to the hard workers protesting against abortion is: How many children have you adopted? How many foster children do you have in your home? If your home is open, where are the children that need a good home? How many of the children in the system would you accept from other cultures and challenges( mentally & physically handicapped)?

This is an issue close to my heart because once upon a time early in my life I came to this cross road. Did I have many options, yes I did. I choose to have an abortion because the other options did not look very promising and actually it was not promising. I am so glad that abortion was available. No one can understand the turmoil a young girl goes through when this type of decision is made. The other thing is some girls can not handle a situation like this mentally because I even toyed with suidcide. While some girls have a great support system to deal with the situation mentally as well as physically a great deal of others do not. Did my parents know about this, YES. My mother was TOTALLY against abortion while my father was not. Do I think about what I did? YES, Very often! Have I asked GOD for FORGIVENESS? YES I HAVE, OVER AND OVER. Do I think he has FORGIVEN ME? YES, I DO. But I am having to learn how to forgive myself. :angel2:

If abortion becames illegal will it mean that the process will go away? L naw! It means women will go back to the kitchen table, basements, and other unhealthy clinic/manholes because they are desparate. I personnally do not want to attend funeral of love ones because of Extreme Right-Wing Projects.

Now lastly, what have I done because I my experience? I work with Young people to be there for them, especially young girls. I spend lots of my free time with the High School kids and now I volunteer in the 1st Aide Clinic once a week. Secondly, I made sure my daughter was going in the right direction, from choosing friends, to places to hang out, to finding positive things to do. I also discussed frequently actions and consequences and still do. I am not doing the same with my son (A Soldier NEVER Goes into Battle without his HELMET).
Just Food for thought!

Smiley, your story really touched me. I appreciate you sharing something so personal. I can't imagine being in such a precarious situation but, have loved ones that made the same decision as you. It is important to be there for them. Know that you were forgiven the FIRST time you asked & walk in it.

Smiley,

Your being so candid about your experience is appreciated, more than you know.

I particularly like what you said when you posted:
Why is everyone focusing on overturning Roe vs Wade, because it is an issue that divides and can give one political group points over another.
That is EXACTLY what it is!!

The other very valid point you made was:
My question to the hard workers protesting against abortion is: How many children have you adopted? How many foster children do you have in your home? If your home is open, where are the children that need a good home? How many of the children in the system would you accept from other cultures and challenges( mentally & physically handicapped)?

Right there, you called out the right-wing zealots who would march and protest about saving the babies, BUT would do nothing to take one of these unwanted children into their homes to love and care for. See, when you call them to the carpet to "practice what they preach," suddenly, the preaching will stop.

I have female friends and relatives who have had the same experience, and I know what it was like for them. Am I saying I agree with abortion at the woman's whim....NO! What I am saying is that I agree with a woman's right to choose, which is what PRO-CHOICE is. The right-wing will try to convince you that pro-choice means pro-abortion, but all that is is yet another one of the spins they put on social issues to prop themselves up as more holy and pious than everyone else.

You have prayed to God about your choice, and God being who He is, will comfort you, and give you saving grace. Don't let MAN even attempt to stand in judgement of you. You, nor anyone else who has had the same experience.

That is all.

Thanks for all that read and responded to my personal story. I just hope it touches someone who thinks differently. I am not attempting to change anyone,s opinion but for them to see the truth. I am not one to open my personal closets to allow the skeletons to be seen but I just had to on this occasion.

:shame: I did not even tell about the other party of my story. Well, being young and probably scared, he denied everything but being the man my father was he was not hearing it. :upset: :saw: My father made and I said made....his family come up with half the money. Did I learn a GREAT lesson from this experience? Yes I did. I made another choice, Never to see this young man again. I saw him at school and kept going. I saw him in some other places and I continued to keep going. I have ran into him many, many years after this and I did manage to have a short and general conversation with him. I think he told me he was a minister. I can truly say GOD is always in control of Events, People and Things!

although i believe in the sanctity of human life (born and unborn), the answer to this question...

Should We Over-turn Rowe vs Wade?
... depends on how badly we want a return to back alley abortions with wire hangers.

Outlawing abortion does nothing to address the underlying causes....

Let's be smart folks - not reactionary.

i just read this

ok, ok,, i see abortion in blunt terms and as an accountability issue and don't think it should be banned to a point (i think, without detailed research, there should be SOME kind of rational cut-off like up to a month or so or only in extenuating circumstances? i dunno.),,, but this stuff that some of you are coming up with about "well,,, if you outlaw it it will still happen",,,,,, therefore you should not outlaw it? GEE FREAKING WIZ FOLKS!!!! YOU COULD SAY THAT FOR EVERYTHING THAT IS ILLEGAL!!! i think yeah, duh, it would still happen, but much less than if it was legal which would be saving lives right?

i mean,, we sit here and one of the biggest arguments against the war in Iraq is the loss of life! one of the biggest arguments for banning guns is loss of life! and you mean to tell me the loss of life through an abortion is somehow not the same when it comes to saving lives? the question is rhetorical at this point. i think i understand that the underlying assumption is that the woman's life/circumstances should take precidence over that of the unborn (which is kinda what i alluded to with the "parasite" analogy); would that roughly summarize the majority of takes?
