With the growing success of the Celebration Bowl should the SWAC reach out and seek another bowl game with the Southland Conference ?

Yes...

Question.....Would we send the team that lost the SWAC championship or the second overall team? If they are not the same team. What if we have a situation like this year with Alcorn having a losing record and Southern having the record they have.

12 schools sent teams with below .500 records to bowl games last year and nobody knew about it basically except for them and the people who care to actually do the research. Sooner or lately that horse needs to stop being beaten .

Good question. Curious to see others thoughts.

W/ PV playing 3 SLC schools fall 2017, I'm feeling some kind of way about it but before those games being announced, I pondered that thought. For instance, an SU vs McNeese St matchup would simply be... :) 40K+, easily.

So sending a .500 SWAC team when we have SU with one SWAC loss against the eventual SWAC and Celebration Bowl Champion is considered beating a dead horse. No sir I'm not buying it. We should send our most powerful team to ANY bowl game. It's simple, all Duer Sharpe has to do is state that we send the winner to the Celebration Bowl and the team with second best record to the bowl game with the Southland Conference. Now if the second best team happens to be the loser of the SWAC Championship so be it.

Of Note....LSU v. Alabama in the National Championship when it was played in the Superdome. Same conference....same division. If we are not sending our best then why compete.

The SEC didn't send LSU and Bama to the NCG. Bama and LSU got there by way of the BCS process.

The NCAA would have to approve this for it to happen. I don't think they will do it any time soon. They don't want any more bowls taking away fans from the playoffs.

The NCAA has no control over bowls. The school presidents, networks and conference commissioners do.

There are no fans for the playoffs and it is my opinion that if they actually cared they would have invested more into them by now . Anyway it has always been my theory that's the direction they are heading with the playoff games and the Celebration bowl is a test run so to speak.

Let''s just for conversations sake that the SWAC ends up in situation like this year with the exception that Southern does not have any restrictions. Should we allow a 5-6 Alcorn represent us or an eight a 8-3 Southern?

Your question Blue Dog is a good question but as usual you don't reply to questions that could strengthen the overall debate.

No. All bowl games are non-sanctioned events.

If that were the case there would be no need for a NCAA Postseason Handbook
http://www.ncaa.org/sites/default/files/2016-17_Postseason_Bowl_HandbookDocument_20161129.pdf

From the handbook (Introduction)

"All certified bowl games must adhere to all applicable NCAA Bylaws. Bowls should pay particular attention to issues regarding student-athlete benefits and NCAA amateurism regulations. Bowls should direct questions on these topics to the NCAA national office or the conference offices affiliated with that bowl."
