Seven-game slate possible for SWAC

A campus...or a high school for that matter!

Lawd, tell me 'bout it, Panthro!

 :smh: :(

Mofos on here bragging and boasting about doing this, that, and the other while their school's athletic budgets is, for lack of a better choice of words, piss-poor. And ditto for most facilities, piss-poor. I still haven't seen not ONE SWAC school chartering planes for ALL, if not some, of its sports teams' travel > 6+ hours away. :retard:

But I will say this. Certain schools seem like they've outgrown the SWAC. I liken it to what occurred to the old swc. Maybe it's time for some to move on and do whatever it is they're seeking. I guess. But I'd strongly suggest that they dive head first and fully because I'd ridicule like heyell if any ever opted to beg to return.

Big talk. No action. Sounds like the norm.

part of the problems is the promoters though. as it has been explained to us before, by jafus I think (sorry if it wasn't u), the promoters suck up much of the profit for our classics. they front the money and assume the majority of the financial risk and are awarded accordingly. we've got to find a way to provide the financial backing for these games ourselves and reap a bigger reward for our product.

MD.... the way u solve teams trying to play a swac school not on the conference schedule is to not allow them to play anyone that's not apart of the conference schedule.

the nine game mandate hurts the conference. the quality of play and coaching has gone down since the inception of that rule. right now we step ooc to play junior colleges and catch beat downs. it may take a few years but we'll find our way back to being a good football conference, worthy of the crowds that come see us play, by playing superior competition.

but then after that you are still going to say "so and so" skated to the SWAC Championship game sine they didnt have to play so and so or their game with so and so didnt count... I honestly think the only way it would actually be FAIR is to only play the teams in your division... and those be the only games that count.... even then you will be breaking traditions (SU-JSU for example) and folks will still complain... Bottom line there is no way everybody is going to be happy.

I will admit that I did not like how AAMU went to their first two SCG but JSU still did not handle our business. I would be cool with the 7 game format. Our schedule was much more exciting back then...everyone's was.

AJ is not our concern. Comegy knows how to beat AJ.

Since you want to psycho-analyze your coach, you need to be aware of his past experiences and how it affects his present thinking. Maybe you need to listen to what your coach says, and more importantly, what he does not say.

Comegy has experienced great losses to A&M (54-0) and to Jones (during the Morehouse days). Those experiences have to weigh heavily on his mind whenever he has to play us.

After the Paul Quinn game, Comegy said that he came into the SWAC to beat Alabama State and Southern. It was curious to me that he did not mention A&M, especially because it was obvious that he would have to come through A&M to get a championship. It occurred to me that Comegy felt confident that he could beat State based upon his previous games against them, but did not feel confident that he could beat A&M and Jones based upon previous games against them. Perhaps Comegy did not want to create the expectation that JSU could win the championship because that would require him to beat A&M, something he was not sure he could do. Comegy may have a mental block when it comes to the Bulldogs.

What you (and JSU posters) do not understand is that a 7-game mandate makes it more difficult for JSU to win the division. Under that format, you will virtually have to beat us head-to-head because there will be fewer chances for upsets by other teams to help your cause. Several times we beat the rivals in our division, but loss the division because we were upset by lesser teams. The 9-game mandate is your best chance to slip into the SCG, but we will play under either format.

OK then........................For argument's sake on the subject of SOME SCHOOLS.

BE HONEST. :D

After all the years of "no child left behind", how long should "certain schools" hold themselves back for the good of other schools.
How long should schools that "can" continue to stiffle their atheletic growth because other's feel they will be left out. :whatever:

How long................before others pull themselves up to the point of carring their own weight.

No smack......................Just a legit question from a member of a certain school.

Dude, I don't recall him mentioning AlaState. I though he said Grambling and Southern. However, why would he have mentioned AAMU? Until two days ago, you were nothing in the SWAC. SU and AlaState were recent champions!!

Also, beating AAMU has NEVER been a problem. Sure, you beat us during the Bell era. Who didn't? THIS year, you were supposed to win. You returned 18 starters from a 9-3 team....we returned 6 starters from a 2-9 team. We had to incorporate a system, learn players and gel as a team. You were a year or two ahead of us. Now things are about to be even. In that situation, AAMU has never been a real threat to Jackson State. Beating you head to head should have been our reason to get to 3 of the first 4 SWAC Championships games. Comegy does not have a mental block for AAMU or any team....he was just behind this year. Last year, he had to recruit, build a team and teach a system. You can't compare ONE year to the FIVE that Jones had to build a championship team from pups. However, considering that even your experienced team was not THAT good, we stand a good chance in reclaiming our rightful place at the top of the SWAC next year. It shole won't take Comegy 5 years!!

Also, the series record between Jones and Comegy is 2-2. Comegy had no reason to have a mental block this year. He was leading the series 2-1.

I don't think that we need to move on but we need to look out for ourselves like the rest of you look out for yourselves. The Commissioners cup ends with JSU, SU and GSU in the top 3 every year. JSU has done more renovations than ANY other SWAC schoool...GSU has built a new arena and SU is about to begin. We just want flexibility to continue to grow. We know that we need the SWAC...but BCF needs US...and you all can hate that fact all you want.

Dude, aside from the Bell years, you are 1-4 against us in recent history. I am sorry but as much as you want to gloat about it...the Bell years were a mistake in JSU history. You ain't never been able to stand toe to toe with a good JSU team and you never will. JSU, SU and Gram HAVE to have losing or near losing seasons for you to beat us.

You are the biggest dumbass in the universe! You were kissing, licking, sucking that man's ass when y'all hired him! When you were told that he was as pitiful a coach as you are dumb, you defended him and annointed him the second coming!

Do yourself and the rest of the SP a favor and shutthehellup with that experimental isht! If you want to tell yourself that to ease the pain of that sorry fool, have at it. The history books (that y'all love to reference) will reflect that the dummy known as James Bell was your coach from 2003-20, and it won't say isht about no damned experiment!

What a fool you are!

Truth hurts don't it?? The fact STILL remains that after just ONE year, Comegy was in that AZZ!! Imagine what's gonna happen next year. All really have to hang your hat on is beating some bad Bell teams and a 2006 transitional team that hardly knew all of the plays!!

Truth? Only in your mixed-up, backward, freaked-out world!! You are the only fool to post stupid crazy isht about "experimental" years when such a thing doesn't even exist!

Get this through your liquid brain....on November 4, 2006, you lost 34-21. The only ass Comegy was in must have been yours!!

I don't think it's right for the conference to hold back ANY of it's member schools. :) If you feel that you're ready for the jump to I-A or another conference, I say have @ it. The SWAC should never ever hold JSU, GSU, SU, AlcSU, AlaSU, AAMU, et al back. When you make that "jump," make sure that foundation is stolid. I've come to know the fiscal makeup of SOME SWAC schools first hand and I was quite shocked and apparently certain alums of certain schools aren't in the know of their OWN schools' putrid lack of support and fiscal misdealings. :read:

Good luck.

Well, you ain't talking about Jackson State.

Not gonna let you get away with that again.
Everytime this comes up.....................People start with the MOVE UP Talk.

WHEN HAS JSU SAID WE WAS MOVING UP TO 1-A.
Hell, this is about this conference not allowing us to play different teams in 1-AA.

And that's what this is about......1-AA..........and maybe a MONEY 1-A game each year.
Ain't nobody here said anything about moving up to 1-A.

We talking bout a 7 game manditory schedule that will allow us to schedule 4 out of conference games with ANYONE WE PLEASE.

We can't do that with 9 games already locked up.

So again.......................HOW MANY MORE YEARS DO WE HAVE TO SIT STILL.

Obviously I am in particular. ;) Straight FROM THE HORSES MOUTH. PERIOD.

Again, like I said...you ain't talking about Jackson State...everything is relative. If JSU is broke, everyone else is REAL broke. PERIOD. We may spend more money becasue we do things a certain way but our cash flow is at the top of Black Colleges, academically and athletically. So you need to tell that horse to sit down and break it down to you. Look at it like this...one man can make 100K a year and have a nice car and home and $5 in the bank..while another man can make 50K a year, have a old car and live with two roommates in an aptartment and have $5 in the bank.

So again, you ain't talking about Jackson State.

Stagga, obviosly these dumb ass non-athletic presidents know nothing about nothing. They've spoken on debating/voting the 9-game mandate for what.... 2 straight years now? I really don't think it's going to move. So, w/ that being said... what is JSU willing to do so that it's best interests are served since it isn't being served w/ the 9-game mandate?

That's all I'm asking. I respect an entity that sez words and puts actions behind them. Not that empty speak stuff. We @ PV do a LOT of empty-speak. :)
