Scores from around the Nation - 11/03/12

Re: Scores From Around The Nation - 11/3/2012

The Irish (9-0) got lucky twice on one play in their 29-26 victory over the Panthers (4-5) on Saturday. In the second overtime, after Notre Dame running back Cierre Wood fumbled as he tried to dive in the end zone, all Pitt had to do to win was kick a field goal. The snap from center was a little high, then Kevin Harper's 33-yard field goal attempt sailed slightly wide right. The second bit of luck occurred when officials didn't notice the Irish had a pair of No. 2s on the field at the same time.

NCAA rules allow teams to have duplicate numbers on a roster, but not on the field at the same time. So the Panthers should have gotten a second chance with wide receiver Chris Brown wearing No. 2 in the backfield leaping to try to block the field goal and cornerback Bennett Jackson wearing No. 2 coming around the right end.

"It was a coaching mistake," Kelly said. "We had put our desperado team on there and Chris Brown is part of desperado. We've got to do a better job, an oversight that can't happen."

ND should not be ranked in the top 5.

Re: Scores From Around The Nation - 11/3/2012

Sumlin going to get some serious recruits and I predict in a couple of years they gone take LSU's place as Alabama's most serious threat to win the SEC West because unlike Les. Sumlin ain't going to have sorry offenses. Not to mention if the Aggies ever get back to their old Wrecking Crew defense like Slocum used to have. It might be real interesting. I can see a lot of Texas kids heading to College Station especially if Mack Brown don't get his stuff together in Austin. Go Sumlin. Not an Aggie Fan. But I am rooting for SUmlin

He has publicly stated that he wants to be the #2 recruiter in Louisiana. Look for them to play La Tech and Tulane to get as many games in Louisiana or against La schools as possible.

We sure don't need no one else in Louisiana. Hell Alabama got 6 including Lacy. What's good for the goose is good for the gander though with A&M because Louisiana schools raid the hell out of East Texas.

I think they might continue to play La Tech. Don't know if it benefits them playing Tulane. All he needs to do is beat LSU more times than they beat him and he can do like Jackie Sherrill used to do when he raided La for players when he coached A&M. Slocum used to do it too. I like Sumlin's chances because them Aggies are really committed to making this SEC thing work. They finally feel like they are out of UT's shadow. Mack Brown got to watch it now as well in recruiting. Kids that are from Texas but want to play in the SEC don't have to leave their state anymore.

They probably want to avoid playing La Tech for a few years. lol
