SCG played in Jackson MS. ???

The rotating site idea makes the most sense. You get exposure in all five regions of the confference by allowing two schools to combine efforts by hosting the SCG themselves. The regions could be set up like this: (20,000+ home stadiums also) Northern (MVSU and UAPB -- stadium: Liberty Bowl or War memorial in Little Rock), Louisiana (Independence Stadium , Mumford, or Superdome), Texas (Relaint Stadium or Robertson Stadium), Southern (Mississippi Veterans or Spinks) and Alabama (Ladd-Pebbles or Legion Field). This way, everyone would get a chance to travel, everyone would get a chance to have a game at home every five years and you cultivate your conference areas instead of just one area that is really not adding much to the conference except for office space right now.

May as well add Ladd Peebles to the New Orleans region..... Its closer to N.O. than it is to any school in Alabama. Mobile is a 5 hour drive from Huntsville and about 3 hours from Montgomery.

There is no "flag", coach, or anything holding attendance back at the SCG. Bamma teams have been there on a regular. Just walk "across the street" and buy a ticket.

No Jackson folks could have WALKED across the street and bought a ticket... the CCC is IN Jackson... few miles from the school.... Birmingham is 90 miles from Huntsville and Montgomery.
Also what is the last championship game you went to? Just because SU and GSU folks dont show up doesnt mean that neither team from Alabama isnt bringing fans. There are TWO teams in the championship not one.

what awful situation???? you talked about the turf last year, it was announced that Legion Field is going back to an artificial turf.... Talk about Legion Field, but it is still MUCH better than most facilities in the South. The upper level will be down within the next month.... whats wrong with Legion Field. Nobody can control the weather.... If Birmingham had a brand new dome people would still find something to come up with.

The home crowd is not comming to see JSU football right now because of BELL. 2 totally different situations. You know if JSU didn't have Bell and was just putting up a decent W/L record, we would outdraw dang near all of you..................so just be real about it cause in the end .........................WE DID WITH WITH BELL THE LAST 2 YEARS.

Heck, we still finish in the top percentage when it comes to attendance DESPITE LOSING WITH BELL.

Nucka been living in a friggin' "lean to" so long that you just can't get that isht out of them. As someone stated earlier, just turn this into a forum of why I hate Birmingham.........hardly any of this applies to most of you anyway. The only schools that represent (travel 1st class) with their teams are AAMU, SU and ALA St.

Think about one thing.........if life and ticket sales would be so great in the city or state that you want change any of the SCG's, then by all means get your politions to get off that lazy arse and PREPARE/PRESENT a professional pitch to someone who can affect change. REMEMBER, you can put some of that money(previous gate receipts prior to 1999 that y'all are good at claiming) to good use instead of giving lip service on how it use to be in the SWAC, how it ought to be, or how something should have been done.

It is good to remember that only at Burger King can you still 'have it your way'.............. provided they don't muck up your order. :wavey:

If SU has the best overall record, then an equal allotment of tickets (say 7K each) are offered to both schools for sale to the public...the remainder are sold through the SWAC office or ticket master. All fans (except Gram & SU) will have enuff time (at least a week) after clinching their division to know if their team is in or not.

What yall think about that...I think it would solve the attendance problem. I think Grambling would decide to play it in Shreveport to take advantage of the casinos as an added attraction to stimulate attendance.

Everyones facilities "aint able".... but giving the overall team a choice of where to host it sounds nice.

Maybe I'm wrong but didn't the NCAA rule out any Championship games in the State of Mississippi after the state voted to adopt the current flag? It's either championship games or playoff games.

Clarification: One you don't have a choice or control of it because it's that school home game and you're obligated to do so.

The other you have total control and choice and you aren't obligated to do so.

They put the SCG in Jackson, people would be there. Just like a regular season game. Ya'll know it.

That isn't the question, let me restated my original question.

This just dawn on me. After the incident in Bham and the question as to why it seems we?ve been playing every championship game in Alabama came up again.

I thought of my number one venue that I?d consider playing the SCG at then realize playing there would contradict my position on a big social issue.

The venue I?m referring to is Veterans memorial and the issue at hand is that dang confederate flag.

This isn?t meant for any type of smack but honest and open discussion. What do you think? Would you want to play there while we condemn others for bringing championship games to other venues across the country because of the very same reason?

First, You got nerves to talk about someone livin in a "Lean 2" with that sorry, raggdy arse isht yall play in, and yall don't even own the damn thing. We play our big rivalry game in the the Super Dome, not a raggdy old falling down stadium (my bad, "Let's tear it down before it falls") that everyone else done abandoned.

My school travels first class and second (JSU) is a distant second. None of you bama schools can touch that except for that "We playing our step brother" game yall got in October. Alcorn will even bring more fans to Mumford that either of the 2 Bama schools.

Finally, other place are worth something so they are going to charge us for it. Well, Birmingham charges what they are worth, and not a penny more. As Sam Kinnison would say, "There's a reason, there's a F**** reason."

If someone from bama can tell me how much office space they have in their present location, I can provide about 1500 - 3000 sq ft of office space within a 5 mintue drive of downtown New Orlean and the Superdome. :read:

They have the whole A.G. Gaston Building. It's more than 3000 sq ft. It houses the SWAC Hall of Fame as well.

Lewis, who were you saying doesn't own their stadium? I'm sure you aren't talking about AAMU?

As for the people talking about moving the games to the highest seeds area to play. Have you people ever thought about how much notification you would need to give the folks at the Superdome, Reliant Stadium, the Liberty Bowl, or anywhere else? Do you think these stadiums are gonna just hold that weekend open for the SWAC? You can't just decide that we gonna play in Reliant in December when it's already November or as early as October for that matter. I don't know where yall come up with this crap, but folks don't operate like that.

Like I said before. I want the SCG to be moved in 2007 just so we can settle this whole thing and then you can begin to to see how you are treated in these other facilities that you are drooling over. If you think they aren't gonna charge you a butt load of money to play there. You are absolutely out of your mind. Then, do you really think your schools want to up the money that has to be paid yearly to be in this conference? Hell, some of these schools are operating so far in the red it's endangering their presidents/chancelors jobs as it is. If they don't start winning soon, their heads are going to go on the block.

When you leave B'ham, don't expect the freebies to be there when you return.... and you will return broke after these other places tear into the conference pockets, believe me.

Thanks Mike, I'll have to checkout the place the next time I pass throught there. Nothing here with that amount of space will be free unless the city/state receive a grant to cover the expense. I agree with you abount the planning. I know here in New Orleans the dome/convention center events are plan as far as 10 years in advance. And nobody is giving away anything. People wants to be paid. I personally think the game need to be played closer to the center of the SWAC. Nothing against Alabama but it's not/has no SWAC history. The Hall of Fame is there and we only been in Alabama since Alabama St joined in 198? Houston , Jackson, or Baton Rouge will be more appropriate. Some may want to make this a Bama thing but it isn't, it's about the history and the heart of the SWAC and where their biggest fan base is. The only big game in Alabama is when they both play each other. I hope the SWAC office is evaluating this/these issues and looking to improve the way/where we operate.
