SCG played in Jackson MS. ???

A decent outside stadium has as many seats as a dome stadium. :lol: Surely you don't expect one of the outside venues to be a small one for the championship game. :lol:

So ....you have never been to Veterans Memorial for a game?

And I assume all the people that are "using" the flag excuse won't be, or will not be comming to Memorial for no games in the future?

I mean ...after all, that flag will still be flying OVER STATE PROPERTY for regular season home games?

How many people won't be comming to Jackson because of it when YOUR TEAM TRAVELS HERE?

I guess this is a yes & no answer, looking at AAMU, they have it on the heart on their tags...

But looking at the ASU tag they just have the symbol of the heart without it actually saying "Heart of Dixie"

Don't other (not that the SWAC has to follow others, but...) conferences have cities BID on hosting championship games?

The idea of the game rotating between E/W winners is keen.

'Neutral' sites can bring 'neutral' attendance sometimes.

Last time tags came out ... I BELIEVE you can request not to have it on your tag.... its just not too big of a deal to most people and others probably dont even know that you can have it taken off. I believe you HAVE to have the heart on your tag but not the words Heart of Dixie.
 
First of all, the Confederacy was a country. It is part of our history, period. We can't change that. When I see that flag, I smile, because it is the symbol of a country that got their arses straight kicked into submission. Anyone that glorifies it, is glorifing getting thier arse kicked in thier own backyard. Sometimes we are so easy to have our eyes blinded. The racisism will be there no matter what. But if they are trying to intimidate me with it, they better come better than that. Next time you see one of them displaying that flag, ask them, didn't the confederacy get they arse straight kicked into submission. The conversation will stop right there.
Now do I agree with the flag being displayed, no. But it is part of the Mississippi State flag, so that something for the black folks of Mississsippi to deal with. But right now, they got thier hands full with Bell.

As for the game being in Jackson. I think it would be much better than Birmingham. Aside from the hate of Birmingham itself. I feel that a lot of fans from Jackson St. Alcorn Southern and Grambling would come no matter who played. Add that to the fans from the schools participating, and it would do much better. Hell, if Southern was in the game, and it was in Jackson, we would bring over 20,000 ourself. Southern folks love to go to jackson for football for some reason.

If they did, this place would be a ghost town, the only folk left would be ASU and AAMU folks.
These are all excellent reasons why we dont need an SCG period. Everyone talks about moving the game, I'm still trying to figure out why we're still having it. It doesn't help the conference as a whole and there's virtually no interest in the game beyond the participants. If you ranked this game among all the BCF classics, it wouldnt even be in the top-15.

Sometimes folks get to wrapped up in themselves. Since right now, we can't go to the playoffs, and there is no Heritage bowl. It gives our players something to play for for a post season. Your statement that "there is no interest beyond the participatant", well, the first reason we do this is for the participants. GO tell those kids at ASU that. Sometimes we get so wrapped up in our own glory, we lose sight of things. Those kids play football because they love it. Both teams played thier hearts out this year in that game, and that's all it takes to make it worth it to me.
 
The Mississippi State flag did not fly in the stadium last year for JSU games. The Great One specifically looked for it and it was not there.

Whenever the SWAC gets a new commissioner that is tired of playing championship games in empty stadiums just because the stadium is free, then we can entertain the issue of moving games to a city or state where the poeple actually care about the SWAC or even know it exists. The people of Alabma are not really SWAC nor are they use to competing in SWAC events.

When it comes to the SCG or the basketball trny championship being empty, we have more excuses than a brotha in jail. The fact is that even when the state of Alabama has a participant in the game, the stadium is still empty. These games need to be moved pronto. .....bottom line. Even a Southern grad can see that.

Maybe I'm wrong but didn't the NCAA rule out any Championship games in the State of Mississippi after the state voted to adopt the current flag? It's either championship games or playoff games.

I was just about to post this myself. It's funny how everybody has a problem with the flag, yet they all have there arses in Memorial when their team is in Jackson. Wonder why they never boycotted then. Keep it real, people.

I don't care where the game is played. If my team is in it, I'm there for sure.

You are right about that. I firmly believe that you shouldn't expect others to come see your team play. That's for you and your own fans to do. It's always nice to have others support it, though.

Yes indeed...been saying that from the beginning. Doesn't matter who you play...they should not be counted on for attendance.
 
Call me late, but are you all trying to tell me that MS. is still holding on to the flag? "Those" people are still displaying that "used" toilet paper outside of government offices/buildings? That says a lot I'm sorry. Spin it all you want, but that some sad you know what. There is no excuse. I see dat thing flying outside people houses and just shake my head. Things of this nature just perpetuate the perception of the state especially if it hinders them from hosting revenue generating championship events. I guess those white people don't know that they can still be bigots without wearing that flag or a variation of it on their chest.

If this is the case, then how did SU and Ricky Week beat USM at USM in a baseball regional a few years ago.

Not convinced ......................OLE MISS IS HOSTING A BASEBALL REGIONAL AS WE SPEAK.

I think it's just Championship games because Delta State was allowed to host regionals there last year I think.

There is a big difference between playing a game at a schools home field and playing a championship game on that same field.

Clarification: One you don't have a choice or control of it because it's that school home game and you're obligated to do so.

The other you have total control and choice and you aren't obligated to do so.

They put the SCG in Jackson, people would be there. Just like a regular season game. Ya'll know it.

Heck, and as far as this, it can't be worse than where we at now. A football stadium that's half closed and rotting and a baseball tournament in pee-wee and bo-bo's business district. :(

Yep ..............probably.

Two totally different things. Don't even compare the two.

There is no "flag", coach, or anything holding attendance back at the SCG. Bamma teams have been there on a regular. Just walk "across the street" and buy a ticket.

WHAT'S THE PROBLEM WITH THE BAMMA'S NOT SHOWING UP? :(
