Say You're Mark Cuban

Dirk ain't going nowhere and Kobe ain't coming to Dallas.

I said the same thing, W. Cuban would have to trade dang near the entire team. No haps. The way I see it, Chicago would be the better fit for Kobe, should Buss trade him.

It ain't gonna happen this season without Dirk. Common sense. The value is too high right now. It drops significantly next year and in 2 years, but right now, no way the Lakers trade for less than a superstar. Dirk specifically when speaking of the Mavs.

Well they better hope Kobe doesn't start tanking and becoming a malcontent. He really can do some damage to the Lakers if he feels like it. Aint nothing they can do about it either. Play lazy on defense......Phil already thinks he is doing that now in pre-season. He can play hurt.........Just be a cancer in their locker room. He can drive his trade value down if he wants too. I wouldn't want to be Buss. The rest of the NBA can wait and play hard ball. Guess what.........the Lakers still will not get Kobe value. I just don't believe he is going to go all out for the Lakers the longer they hold on to him. You can see signs of it now.

But if he tanks it hurts his trade value too much...he'd be stuck. He's never tanked. This is preseason and really he does not have anything to prove in practice games. LT doesn't play pre-season in football hardly at all.

That's not true, hell everybody knows Vince Carter dogged it in Toronto for years, and he was easily traded. Why, because everyone knew that Carter would start playing hard again the moment a trade went through. If anything, it hurt Toronto because they ended up having to trade him for nothing. Still, I don't think Kobe's pride would let him tank, but I've seen stranger things.

Kobe has no reason to play hard for the Lakers, the Lakers didn't provide him with the talent to contend for a title, so why should he go all out? The closer he gets to free agency, the less teams are willing to give up for him. Right now, Kobe wants to contend for a championship, that means that teams will give up PICKS for him. Kobe won't go to a team where it won't be but one superstar on the team after he is traded.

Kobe is the best player in the league, his trade value won't go down because of him not going all out. His trade value will only go down because teams can simply offer him the MAX at free agency time and not give up any players/picks. Right now, they have to give up both if they want Kobe, and that player doesn't have to be their superstar.
