From Cuban's point of view... Dirk and Harris (PG)....maybe the African center...can't remember his name.
The Lakers will not make the same mistake they made when they traded Shaq. If Cuban wants Kobe, he has to give up Dirk. And from what Cuban is saying, he is not giving up Dirk.
Besides, the Lakers would be better off trading Kobe to the East.
I disagree. If they send Josh Howard, a couple OK players and two first round picks, the deal will go down. Dirk is Dallas and they wouldn't expect Dirk.
For the deal to happen, it must include Josh Howard.
The Lakers will NOT give up Kobe if Dirk is not included...period. It has been reported that the Buss family has made their position very clear on this. I am not just saying just to be saying. It is superstar for superstar...Josh Howard is not a superstar (yet).

Dirk ain't going nowhere and Kobe ain't coming to Dallas.
EXACTLY! If I'm Mark Cuban I have seen what Dirk can do. He disappears.
In a couple of years (if Kobe is still there) the Lakers can realistically expect less in return because by then Kobe, will begin the down side of his career. But if you want him now, you have to pay a premium. The Lakers WILL give up their superstar for an All-Star, young talent, and some first round picks. They know Kobe is due to become a FREE AGENT in a couple of years, then they will give him up FOR NOTHING.

The premium is ANY All-Star player and 1st Round Draft Picks.
OK, you still don't get it? Look at the trade for Kevin Garnett.
JR, you are right. With the no-trade clause in Kobe's contract, he is really a free agent from now until the end of his contract because he dictates where he wants to go. There is no way he will ACCEPT being traded to Dallas if Dirk is coming to LA? WHY WOULD HE? That puts him in the same position he is in right now.
Right now, Chicago and Dallas are the only places Kobe would accept being traded to.
Cuban needs to go into the locker room and tell everybody but Dirk to pack their SHat because Kobe is coming to town. Because everybody on that team is SUBJECT to being traded, except Dirk.
I think they should keep Jason Terry and Dirk. Having Terry and Kobe in the same back court would be lethal.
