"Keep Moving on" is the one I like.
I am editing a history piece for a family for their family reunion. I started with some old black and white pics of the good old days cotton picking, old shotgun houses, B/W pics of the old deseased family members etc.. and yes the song that is playing under the pics is "A Change Gone Come" I used this song quite often when I edited pieces like that.

Sam Cooke had a super voice. His music is timeless. Nat King Cole voice is the smoothest and his songs are also timeless.

I totally agree with that statement. Cooke's voice was smooth.

My dad still has all of the Soul Stirrers 78's from waay waaaaay back (before during and after Sam Cooke). Awesome music. He played his SPIRITUALS every Saturday evening around 6 pm. I can still remember those 78's spinning on the record player watching the Speciality Records label go 'round and 'round when I was a small child. Recently, my dad told me that the Soul Stirrers got their start in Houston during the 1930s and that Sam Cooke didn't join them until 1950 after they had moved to the Windy City. He said Sam Cooke left the Highway QCs to join the Soul Stirrers. That's the Soul Stirrer music I love. Sam was only with the Soul Stirrers for like 5 or 6 years. When he left to do secular music he was replaced by Johnny Taylor. I can listen to some of that but the pre-Johnny Taylor years are the ones I like especially with Sam Cooke at the helm. Some of my favorites were:

I could go on and on but Sam also continued to write music for the Soul Stirrers after he left them. Jesus Be a Fence Around Me is one of my favorites that he wrote. It was a hit for the Soul Stirrers and years ago Fred Hammond put his own twist on it and made a hit.
I bought a CD/DVD collection from Malaco Records not too long ago. The last surviving Soul Stirrer sang Touch the Hem of His Garment and Jesus Be a Fence Around Me. His voice was so "Sam Cook." I watch and listen to that all the time.
I'm going to my parents house later this evening and play those 78s.

Well, I like all of his songs. I collect old music and he is in my collection. Love the Soul Stirrers.It was something about his voice; a touch of sadness but beautiful. Some people believed he had a premonition that his "death" was near when he recorded "A Change is Going to Come".
