Let's get this straight. Imus is not a rapper or some average guy on the street. He is a radio host who has interviewed many high-profile politicians and has some measure of respect in broadcasting. Imus should be held to a higher standard than some thug turned rapper. And its funny how the racially part of this statement has everyone outraged, not that Imus labeled Rutgers women's basketball team, a group of dedicated student athletes, as a bunch of rough prostitutes. If he had called a group of white female athletes whores, then women's groups across the country would be OUTRAGED. :smh:

Stagg, you hit the nail on the head. Imus is bringing in millions while Hardaway wasn't bringin in jack.

But to be fair to Imus, Hardaway took hatred to another level. He flat out said that he "hated" gays, that he didn't like them and that he didn't want to be around them.

Imus' comments were not even close to being that egregious.

:upset:

Who is this young lady who said 50 cent is on the radio? Sharpton told her he is(his songs are) but his MUSIC is being played. Fiddy DOES NOT host an talk show that's regulated by the FCC.

Yep....................He spoke his mind on a CALL IN SHOW.
He was not doing HIS SHOW at that time.

Jimmy "The Greek" wasn't doing his show either, but look what happened to him.

Al Campanis wasn't doing his show, but look what happened to him.

How can we be enraged when a White person says something borderline racist, but NOT be enraged when a Black person says the same thing or even worse?

Is there a more sinister motive behind the words if a White person says it?
Can one read that White person's mind and say for sure that he's racist?

Can one read that Black person's mind and say that he doesn't like his own race, so he call's another Black person the "N" word or he calls a Black woman a "ho" or "bitc#"?

I must confess, I've not developed the ability to read any person's mind, so I can't say what's in his heart.
I'll leave that up to a Higher Power.

All of this bemoaning Black people are doing is hypocritical BS. We continually support a "hip hop culture" that degrades our women on a regular basis. And I'm not just talking about rappers. Regular guys commonly refer to Black women as *****es and hoes and we think nothing of it. Yet, when a white person does it, it's a problem. That's BS. We can't expect other people to respect what we don't respect.

We must have been thinking the same thing at the same time. I totally agree with you. We don't respect ourselves, yet we expect someone else to show us the utmost respect. Crazy.

Again.

Why is people alway's implying EVERY BLACK PERSON ACT THE SAME.............LIKE RAPPERS.:goof:
Like that give people an out to not get offended.

NO other ethnic group is not lumped together like that.

Is it safe to say since ALL BLACK PEOPLE SUPPORT the HIP HOP way of life, it's safe to say that ALL WHITE PEOPLE THINK LIKE IMUS.

Just asking since ALL US BLACK PEOPLE support all aspect of the hip hop culture.
Amazing how ya'll can seperate a white mans INDIVIDUAL COMMENT's from WHITE CULTURE as a whole but NEGROS are not allowed the same benifit.

Hell...................Guess they were right.
"WE all look alike" so I guess "WE" all think alike now.

Shat.........................Why bother.
IMUS is white.

He has a right to say what he said because the RAPPERS and a small segment of black culture say's ho and byotch.

Let the man go back to work.
They are Nappy headed HO's. :goof:

Where is his Co Host? The one who made the jiggaboo and wannabe comment? He should be on there too. Oh lemme guess...he's in hiding.

Imus - "We was just rappin." LOL

AL- "What? You blanked out?"
"Oh, you dont argue that? So you came to sign your resignation then?"

Imus - "I aint signing anything."

AL- "I give you credit for showing up. And I'll you more credit for resigning."

Staggalee, I understand what you are saying. Black people are not monolithic. We don't all think the same. Point taken.

However, until I see the same amount of outrage directed towards those "rappers and small segment of black culture" I will still say this reaction to Imus is overblown hypocritical BS.

I'm not suggesting at all that Imus has a right to disrespect Black women. I'm simply saying that we need to clean up our own house first.

Dude the outrage has been directed towards rap but as with any form of rebellion young folks are not going to listen to old folks. No rapper (or any artist) is going to be dropped from a label for his language.

As if young folks aren't crying foul at Imus. That's an excuse.
