I discovered her music for myself while in undergrad. I loved so much her rendition of this song. No doubt she was my favorite Jazz Vocalist.

JACKSON, Miss. —
Jazz singer, songwriter and producer Cassandra Wilson has died at the age of 70.

According to multiple reports, her management said she died peacefully at home, surrounded by family, close friends and her manager. Her family and close friends respectfully ask for privacy as they grieve her loss.

Wilson, a Jackson native, won two Grammy Awards during her career and has a marker on the Mississippi Blues Trail.

In March 2022, Wilson was awarded the National Endowment for the Arts Jazz Masters Fellowship.

She began playing piano at the age of 6, guitar by 12 and was working as a vocalist by the mid-'70s.
