Remember that FAMU/Southern game from 1999 we always talk about...

Do you all remember the year S.U. beat FAMU twice in the same season in Atlanta? Can someone post the video of those two games? Is Southern University the only team to Molly Whop FAMU twice in the same season? :emlaugh:

Earl Holmes claimed that the 1995 games against Southern led to the creation of the Gulf Coast offense...at least I believe it was Earl Holmes...there's a special about the GCO on the FAMU Athletic site

Vite's defense was set up to Stop the run. He had big physical former RB's playing DB. FAMU was the only team he couldn't stop.

Each team had a lot of talent and was well coached. They defeated very good PWCs during that decade more than once. I respected that each had a killer instinct.

I have mentioned if we get back to the '70s level of play we will be all right. Heck, right now we first need to get to the 90s level of our best teams were.

I just noticed how much Pete Richardson pissed Billy Joe off that week...FAMU was going 5 wide and throwing it into the end zone while time was running out LOL

Still not as bad as when he called a timeout against NCA&T back in 1998 to add another TD on the board as time expired LOL

Yo what was the back-story of Pete and Billy Joe that week

I recall alot of tension was brewing before SU made it to FL,

Yo I don't know if this is true or not, but after the game, SU boarded the bus and came back to BR that same night LMAO...they didn't even go back to the hotel LOL

man I miss those games..that environment was hostile as shat...I thought Mumford was bad, but Bragg is/was up there as having a bad environment...yall dudes were ruthless LOL.

Aww man, that's a special place..they aint as bad as our fans, but they are 1B, we may be 1A, but they asses are 1B as far as being hostile Lol...back when SU went there in the 90s, it was on, I can recall making that long ass car ride LOL...but man you missed the environment, I was a young teen and had a ball, alot of the cats that's posting were prolly in college and I can only imagine how it was when they were there...but 99 was LOL all I can say, shat got real...
But that's when the SU vs FAMU was a game in a game...that week leading up to the game..something went down, and I can't remember what happened Lol...
FAMU ran the score up and kept going 5 wide like dude said

Billy Joe could be heard on SU's broadcast cursing out his OC, because he wouldn't throw a bomb at the end of the game  he threaten to fire the guy

I flew to Jacksonville, rented a car and drove to Tallaho with my daughter who was a toddler at the time, to witness that massacre.

Pete gave FAMU/Billy Joe bulletin board material talkin 'bout "Somebody was gonna get embarrassed."

Pete was right......

didn't Pete print something from the SWACPAGE and read the comments?

You know Internet Pete did. You just want someone to tell the story when you could have.

By the way, get WIFI or at least an additional phone line in the Baby Dome!

I tell you what... I shole hope Leonard Moon will be able to get a signal outside of H&PE when y'all come to 3rd Ward. :smh:

Man tell the story, I still don't know what happened LMAO

All I know it was some mess that was leading up to that game *tears* Lmao

These games can still happen. YES THEY CAN!!!!

All it takes is smart Managerial Decision-Making.

1. Per Google Maps, it is approximately 450 Miles from SU's Campus to FAMU's Campus. More than likely, you will have to spend the night. HOWEVER, Mobile and New Orleans are within driving distance of the main route. Cheap Hotel options include a Days Inn, Holiday Inn, etc. You don't have to stay in something expensive like the Marriott, etc. 2 nights at Days Inn more than likely equates 1 night at the Marriott.

2. The kickoff time has to be 1pm-2pm, no later than 4pm-5pm. This is to accommodate the nightclub and party vets.

3. Always, ALWAYS make be aware of Florida States schedule. When the game is on Tallahassee, make sure Florida State is not playing that day across the tracks as well. This way, FAMU vs. SU will be the only show in town and the restaurants are easy to reach.

4. Same as number #3 except always be aware LSU's Schedule when the game is set to take place in Baton Rouge.

Just make simple managerial decision making we can recapture that HBCU Magic.

c_leb..don't believe the street rumors....they had everything available except there was no person to broadcast the game once it was in place..even Mike Davis asked in the middle of the game where was he...he just saw a phone like hanging out the wall waiting to be connected :emlaugh:

Pete read the comments and the news ran with it....that was funny...something that Cholly said I think

This was a crushing and embarrassing loss. I remember Pete talking smack about this game and everything. The Jukebox saved Southern from total obliteration that night :emlaugh:

And then during the week of the FAMU game, during a press conference (you Jags correct me if I am wrong because was not there, I only saw a picture) he stood holding up a print out of the then SWAC Page message board and said, "Somebody's going to get embarrassed."

Needless to say, "FAMU scored again" (thanks GR).

Classic memories.

I think the "somebody's going to get embarrassed" comment was because Billy Joe wouldn't send game film, even though he already had film of SU from Hampton. It was all a part of the same press conference.
