Austin Robichaux (7-2, 3.01) will start the top-seeded Cajuns opener against Jackson State on Friday night.

“Our bullpen has really done a nice job over the last 2½ to three weeks,” UL-Lafayette coach Tony Robichaux said. “We’re going to need it to be able to make this run.”

In the Sun Belt tourney, eight relievers made a combined 13 appearances. They pitched a total of 19.2 innings, allowed 10 hits, and had an earned run average of 1.37. They walked eight, struck out 14 and had three wins and two saves.

Jackson State baseball chat with Ros Dumlao

2:31

Ros Dumlao: Long time no see, welcome back to the live chat.

2:32

Ros Dumlao: Let's keep this chat strictly on JSU baseball at regional. Feel free to send over your questions and I'll do my best to answer them.

Comment From LJ
How do you think J States Pitching will hold up against the Cajun's bats?

2:34

Ros Dumlao: I think the biggest question is how well can the bullpen step in if Vincent Anthonia (who's starting tomorrow) runs into trouble. It's interesting how coach Johnson named Anthonia the starter because he hasn't started in a while.

2:35

Ros Dumlao: Anthonia is a lefty, so that may play to JSU's advantage.
