Okay....Audiogalaxy is DEAD!!!! Does anyone have another website I can download music from? Damn....Audiogalaxy was the bomb...it was quick and easy to use.

Napster send help....uh...never mind.

I'm suffering from withdrawal myself. Glad I got that Maze CD burned before it was too late ...

audiogalaxy was o.k. I didn't like how they were trying to get folks to suscribe ....

suggestions

www.kazaalite.com - KaZaa network w/out the spyware and abusive software that KaZaA normally throws in.

www.musiccity.com - Morpheus on a new network. I don't know much about it, but after they left KaZaA network, I wasn't as pleased. They've got a new version coming out, so it may be better.

But you didn't hear this from me ;)

I downloaded Morpheus but it is taking a long time to connect? Is that a common thing or do I need to uninstall and try reinstalling it?

From another message board

http://www.xp-erience.org/article.php?sid=2537

Thanks to both Mark and Staffan for this news : It looks like there is going to be some big changes in P2P in the coming months after seeing this article -- The recording industry, music publishers and songwriters announced today that they have reached an out-of-court settlement with Audiogalaxy.com, the Napster-like clone, which requires Audiogalaxy to stop the infringement of copyrighted works on their peer-to-peer network.

The settlement reached would allow Audiogalaxy to operate a "filter-in" system, which requires that for any music available, the songwriter, music publisher, and/or recording company must first consent to the use and sharing of the work. The other key provision of the agreement is for Audiogalaxy to pay the music publishers and recording industry a substantial sum based on Audiogalaxy's assets and interest in resolving this case quickly.

Try Kazaa Lite

Yeah, Morpheus still sucks  Are you using the "Preview Edition" or something like that? There's supposed to be a new version out now or coming soon, but I wonder if that'll make it run faster. Those connection problems sound like the same ones I was having. Go to Kazaa Lite (www.kazaalite.com), much easier - the way Morpheus used to be.

If you asked me, Napster was gangsta about theirs. At least they were dedicated to their users before they were forced to shut down. I liked the AG Satellite. Ever since the final bell of death tolled for them, I've been using NeoNapster, And Xolox.

I have new respect for Napster now..........and they're deceased also!

i got one....

Its called blubster....it like napster, but if you dont download the whole song at one time you'll lost it.......if you have DSL or Cable its a good way to go....If your on a dial-up then you best leave it alone because it will F*CK your computer up.......

There is Life After Death at archive.org

There is a great resource that finds old web sites that have been taken down. You can find audiogalaxy.com and other favorites at www.archive.org. Just punch in the old web address and it will list a series of dates in the past. Click on the date you want and it will show you how that web site looked and operated on that day. You can find lots of great sites from the past through archive, and for those looking to revisit web sites that are gone, this is great place to start.

Shoot I wish there was a way to listen to the clips form thoes old band pages I looked up.

And to think this was all started by a drummer in a rock band.

Maybe if Lars Ulrich of Metallica would have shut his mouth, none of this would have never happened.

(You make too much money anyway, why trip?)

The R.I.A.A.- Working for the greedy record compainies and player hating on all of us who'd rather make thier own CD's than to pay $17 dollars for one.

Nasty,

I've been using Imesh to download music. I have a cable connection and I find that Imesh is very quick. It will also allow to preview songs while the song is downloading.

Don't forget Dr. Dre - tried to get lists of all Napster users so he could sue them too  And he was one of last year's TOP PAID artists. Nope, no Dre, Snoop, or Eminem albums for me.

NOTE ABOUT IMESH AND ALL FILE SHARING SOFTWARE!!
Most of those programs contain spyware or ad software that keeps track of where you surf on the web, pops up ads even when you're not on a site, overlays links with their own clients' sites, etc. It's a bunch of mess!! If you do decide to use these, use 'em at your own risk. The only ones I know about without spyware are Morpheus and Kazaa Lite.

I suggest you also get a personal firewall (ZoneAlarm is free) and check CNET on all these different file sharing programs to make sure you know what you're getting into.

I tried Morpheus and NeoNapster but those didn't work out for me. I am using WINMX.COM. I was able to download a song successfully "Po Folks" It was pretty quick. It works like the old Napster. I may use this one for a minute.
