Only the league knows about #1 and #2 is still private between the league, team and player. #3 the team can take actions.

This is my understanding.

The article reports it as the 2nd positive and that he entered the league under the program. Generally, the 1st test is keep close to the vest by the team and the NFL and just requires the players enters into the NFL Drug Counseling and Testing Program. So, it is not neccessary for it to go public until the 2nd (4 game fine) and of course 3rd test because that is when the 4 game automatic suspension comes into play.

Glad this didn't happen in the middle of camp. Which free agent QBs are still out there that Dallas could actually pick up?
 
Now we know why they picked up Drew Henson in the offseason. They had to have known this guy had a problem long before this.
 
This is so messed up for my Cowboys. I hate when athletes use drugs and waste all of the talent that was given to them. Like Rick James said " Cocaine is a helluva drug."
 
They will still need a backup because whoever the starter is now will not survive every game. Quincy was ducking all last year.
 
I am listening to the Two Live Stews on 790 The Zone. As I understand it, this was a team administered test, not a league one.

With Quincy being from SW Dekalb and UGA, folks in Atlanta are talking about there.
 
Damn Quincy, I can't hold up for you on this. I have made many an argument on how Quincy would do well with a good running game. Now he screws that up with drugs.
 
Well if the drug rumor is true, why not get rid of him. He might end up being a liability. What happens if they give him the benefit of doubt and he performs well, then in a playoff run he tests positive and gets suspended. Why invest your energy. If you know you are going to be tested why get dirty before, that shows that you must not care.

I just read that he was already in the NFL's drug program, which implies he'd flunked the 2nd test already. Then Dallas tested him and he failed that test, which would be a 3rd. Since the NFL didn't administer this test, they're not holding it against him, which would mean a 4 game suspension.
 
No one could have been as shocked and disappointed as I was when the news first broke this morning. I would have never guessed that Quincy used drugs since he seemed to embrace a more spiritual environment. He was co-emcee with Chris Carter at the Superbowl Gospel concert. I thought at the time, of all the places he could have been that night, he chose to be in a spiritual environment.

I can understand the Cowboys staff having to be decisive and swift in their decision. Quincy had the team leading role, and substance problems could be far reaching in affect if he was given another slap on the wrist. Judging from the Jerry Jones' demeanor during the press conference, it appeared that he was disappointed.

Hopefully we can find another viable back up, and hopefully we don't have to ask Chad Hutchinson. :smh:

What I don't understand is----- if you KNOW you're the starting QB for the most popular football team ON THE PLANET, why in da heyll do you flunk a drug test....... :mad:

I can't even be mad with the Cowboys, although I want to. I always felt like Qunicy never got a 'fair shake' at Valley Ranch, but I guess (under the circumstances) he got what he deserved......

as of now Dallas has the mind set of Vinny being the starting QB.

I know, but our backups don't have playing experience. Romo was third man last year and Henson is new to the team and although seems promising from his college days before baseball, hasn't yet proven anything in football.

It is not performance driven. The hot question on the table is as follows: Is whether this was a league administered test or a Dallas Cowboy's Jerry Jones administered test. The league is adamant that a team can not test a player?
