Okay, since I didn't get any response from ova dere=======>

Any of ya'll familiar with Cheryl Davis (I think that is her name)? I think she may have marched somewhere between 99 and 04.

Vette,

I think I know who you are talking about. I think we call her "Mel". She was the first female to play trumpet in the Jukebox and also pledged TBS (ZZ chapter). She is now a BD in Columbus, GA

That's what I was trying to confirm cause I wasn't sure if it were true or not.........anyway, that's my old high school and marching band that she's at- Spencer High School Mighty Marching Greenwaves (even though we were corp style back in da day). And she's a soror??? :D

I really hate that I couldn't make it to any of our football games this year because I heard she got the band looking and sounding good........like for the time since the late 80's. :jump:

And they have an "S" on dey chest too.

Yeah, Mel is at Spencer High. From what I hear from people that marched in the mid-90's, she was pretty cold on the horn (She's also S Phi D!). It was good to see her at Homecoming this year.

I know you lovin' that part!!! LOL

Uh frat, when did ZZ start having lines? Just curious. If you need to PM me that then that's cool. Us old head bruhs were under the impression that ZZ did not comeback when ZN did. Did she march in the early 90s? If so then disreguard.

If my memory serves me correctly, she crabbed in '95. I'm not sure when she pledged (maybe '96 or '97)

She crabbed in 95.. She first got in concert band in about 92 or so...96 was her last year in the band. I don't think no one knew about her doing TBS, but never know...~shrugs~

She was real nice on the horn, her tone sound like a dayum PIANO...lol almost perfect..

Well if she was in the concert band in 92 then she could have pledged around that time.....the last ZN line back then was in 93 when Domino and those cats pledged.......so maybe she is their line sister.....I was just curious is all since ZZ is not up and running right now. Thanks for the info Jared.

You are correct Frat. She is Spring '93 ZZ. I think it was 7 of them and she was the only female in marching band to pledge at that time.

I know this is an old azz thread, but I'ain feel like making a new one since this is pretty much related; but I went to the Clayton County Jamboree yesterday and saw my old HS band- Spencer High Mighty Marching Greenwaves. :D Anyway, I was totally amazed with how much they have come up and soror from SU is going a great job with them!!!

I'mma post a clip or two as well as some pictures of them this evening, but I'll tell u this much- Spencer is basically a green and gold baby Jukebox!! I'm talking the same entrance, the baby Dancing Dolls (whyte gloves, long hair and errthang), the tall cymbal players (and dem boys were going OFF!!! ), S on da chest, and they say "Greenwave!! Greenwave!!! 1-2-3!!! AND DOWN!!" :lmao:

And yes.........even with the band being very small, dem b-tones were beastin!!! All THREE of them!!  I was really trippin off this whyte dude behind me:

Dude- "Yeah, they're loud.......whoop tee doo."

Me- "Hater."

Sounds familiar?? :D But either way, I'm just happy they are doing well because over the years since my senior year at Spencer, I watched them go from being one of the top bands in the Tri-county area, to being one of the WORST bands who couldn't decide if they wanted to be corp style, show style or NO style. Honestly, this is the best I've ever seen (or heard them) since my junior year in 1989, so much props and thanks to Cheryl for reviving that "Greenwave Spirit."

I remember Melanie, Thats Mr. J's prodigy, came from Clinton with him and had him pressure Doc until she was in the jukebox. She was the only girl at the time so we called her "Melvin" like she was a dude   . Sounds real juvenile and silly now, but funny as heyal back then, because she would get mad and she had a super high pitched voice and would get excited and you wouldn't understant what the heck she was sayin'! Great news, glad shes successful.

Glad to hear she's doin it BIG. I was in the Choir with her for a couple of semesters. Fig(Ku Klux) and DJ(Bald Bull) told me she was pretty tight on the trumpet.

Klu Klux was a trip....Only cat on trumpet playing trombone parts on the field.. He was loud as h3ll .. But yeah Melody could really play, very pretty tone.

She also has a percussion instructor on staff with her from GSU (yes, as in Grambling  ) who is also a soror. She got em looking right too!! Especially dem cymbal players.

:D The first girl in the band had left about three years earlier, and said she would be the last, so in order to stay true we just pretended that she wasn't girl ;)

I know she mad as hell.

That sounds like some shat I said in 94 when I was the only female in my section- and I'd be dayumed if 4 mo batches came in 95.

I used my digital camera to record this, so it's a bit jumpy (okay, it's VERY jumpy  ) and the quality isn't so great. :( But you'll get the idea, so try to enjoy!
