PV vs Oklahoma...Women's Opening Round

Anyway man I have not heard from you in while. Where you been?

Let's see: Work. Kids playing club soccer (coaching youngest's team). Teaching Sunday school. Etc. Etc. Etc. But I try to peak in here from time to time. Thanks for asking! :)

lets go PV, mayne the only thing thats really killing PV is the second chance points OK is getting, PV is pretty talented, ole Coop doing big things

Seems like okie is getting away with all kinds of bumps on the defensive side. Plenty of no calls when PV takes it to the hole.

Hey this reverse hoo doo moo doo ain't working like it was in the lst Half!

Come on PV.....DANG!!! Let's Go Panthers

Looks like things went downhill for PV after Smith got hurt. PV has repped the SWAC pretty well. I hope some of "our" parents (uh, Mr. Paris...Mr Olajuwon??) would see from this type of game the possiblities if they simply sent their daughters to a PV or other HBCU.

I can understand some of the dynamics driving the men's sports, but there is absolutely NO reason that black parents shouldn't be sending their daughters to play BBall at an HBCU.

Why should Black parents only send their kids to HBCU's? Kids choose major universities over HBCU's for the same reason kids choose SWAC and MEAC schools over SIAC and CIAA schools.

Uhh, exactly what part of my statement did I remotely assert that blacks should ONLY send their kids to HBCUs? :retard:

The point being, HBCUs should be in the equation and IMO acquire a far greater percentage of top caliber black girls playing college B-Ball.

....for the same reason we should support our own businesses (when they are on the up). We have gotta be the only minority group in this country that does not circulate resources and talent in its own community first. What makes the big schools big is nothing more than they pipeline of players they get. You move the players and the spotlight moves with them.

On the other side of that our schools need to get serious.

What about the black kids that attend HBCUs already or do we don't count them?

Obviously, it's not simply that black girls aren't going to the HBCUs. It's just that many of the quality players aren't attending.

Granted I'm not so naive to think McDonald's All Americans are going to start showing up on Coop's doorstep. But we're not even sending the Red Chip girls players to our schools. However, we'll send them to Montana St., Idaho, etc. and make those programs better. I doubt the reason is folks intend to give their daughters a better shot at the WNBA.

So basically what you are saying is that HBCUs are getting untalented college athletes.

Wow, what is it about tonight? You and Dahill are reading way too much into some of what I'm saying. I'm not saying we aren't getting talented players. I am saying that (with respect to women's BBall) we are not getting the higher caliber athletes that IMHO would make the difference between us being 6-7 seeds versus 15-16 seeds.

Not reading too much into what you are saying because I know what you are saying. Don't sugarcoat it. This issue comes up in when talking about basketball and football. Fans and alums whine about not getting the blue chip athletes because they believe the current athletes are not good enough.

It is OK to say it. Blue chip or Red chip. Don't matter. Just say, "Hey, the athletes at HBCUs are not good enough and we want better ones."
