PV signs 3... including All American

Pettway was one of the key players that helped Bama State to our first but not last championship, but this summer i'm goin' make sure he works on his free throws because me and him played each other a lot last year(i won't say who won) The only reason we lost at A&M was because of free throws. All that should change this year, so get ready for the WIGGLE it's comin' to a town near you

I have always liked Pettways game, just a lot of Bama St fans dont like it too much.

you cant blame a lost on one person's free throws. AAMU missed more free throws than Bama St that game. Recently with the AAMU and ASU series, anybody can win. Most of the games recently have been wins by under 5 points either way or either OT games.

Bama St also shot 15 3-pointers and made ONE...

i dont like blaiming a whole game on ONE person.

ask TSU 's coach about guard play in the SWAC. That can only get you to the second round of the SWAC Tournament. Guard dominated teams are uselss if you come across a bigger team that can match you in the backcourt

Alcorn and Bama State win because they have the bulk under the basket. Jackson had that 6-11 kid a few years back and won. Somehow PV won in 98 but they had a decent post player to do the dirty work. Plus, TSU's team was not kown for rebounding anyway.

there was an article in the Huntsville Times during basketball season that said the EXACT OPPOSITE and almost every basketball coach in the SWAC was interviewed. Even Whitney said guardplay is more important than the play of big men in the SWAC.

With AAMU's style of basketball, AAMU doesnt really need a big man. I remember when JSU came to Elmore with those two tall players. I believe one was 6'11 and one was 6'10. Pettaway put 4 guards on the floor and AAMU ran the death of poor little JSU and beat them by more than 20. The main difference is that MOST (not all) of the big men in the SWAC aint no damn good.

the big men might not be any good west of the Mississippi but they ave good ones coming in Texas.

The kid PV signed that is 6-9 is not a slouch. He was ranked as one of the best power forwards in California.

TSU has a height coming that are legitimate big men that can run up and down court as well as post up.

Guard play is important but eventually when your talking about competing beyond the second round of the SWAC and NCAA Tournament you need size.

You daymn right, and I'm one of em'

I saw Pettway today and he looked like he gained about 10lbs. ASU will be a top contender again for the championship.

Alcorn, A&M, TSU and PV and JSU are the top contenders.

How are you gonna say that A&M, PV and JSU will be tthe top contenders. PV didnt even have a winning record (10-20)and you think just cause they had a good recruiting class they gonna win they whole thing. Without Cambridge and Ward for A&M none of the players on the team were consistent. Jackoff State (9-19), well the name speaks for it self. The top contenders are Alcorn, Texas Southern and Bama State (not in that order).

P.S. The only reason why you said those teams would be top contenders are because you couldnt beat them last year.
JACKSON STATE.......... 55-68 L
at Jackson State....... 61-87 L
at Alabama A&M......... 72-92 L
ALABAMA A&M............ 63-74 L
at Texas Southern...... 90-93 LOT
at Alcorn State........ 77-92 L
ALCORN STATE........... 77-79 L

Sting, please keep believing that Cambridge and Ward were the only ones on our team doing something.

FYI, the most consistant player for A&M was our foward Nigel Moore. He was the one keeping us in the game the beginning of the season when the team was having trouble finding a rythym. He was our most improved player, and was on of the ones who should have made All-SWAC, but we know how the SWAC office opperates.

if coaching put TSU in the top of the pack, imagine what will it do PV since their team is bigger and better.

If that class gels with the coaches, they will become an instant contender.

I forgot about him, he clowned on us at Elmore. Besides that who else do you?
Vince Carter Jr. Have you forgot about the "helicopter" Hayes? I guess you missed those games when he was doing Tomahawk dunks on people.

Sting....if you think that the Cambrige, Ward duo was lethal at the guard spot, just wait until you see the freshman duo of Mike Davis and Obbie Trotter. Both come in putting up exlposive numbers. When Cambige and Ward came in, NEITHER was even on scholarship. They had no talent out of high school. Cambrige was at AAMU on a football (quarterback) scholarship, and Ward was even redshirted his freshmen year. Now we have TWO all state guards coming in, not to mention DeWaynious Harris coming back (PV and Bama St should remember him) He took a Bama St player one on one in the final seconds of a game in Montgomery and hit the buzzer beater at the end of the game to win the game for AAMU. And he made Greg Burks call his daddy and say AAMU wasnt treating him right.

I agree with Mr SWAC, Nigel Moore is one of my favorite players, he has a high field goal percentage, he just doesnt shoot as much as I feel he should. He should have a breakout year this year.

You didnt have to bring that up, im still not over that. The talent we got comin in at State aint even funny we got an all state point guard from Tennessee, a good shooting guard who was being recruited by schools in the SEC and another Giant to help us in the paint. I didnt forget about George West either.

Not to down m y home team, but George West will not be a factor against AAMU. I wa tched him play for four years, since he went to the same high school as me. He cant shoot worth a damn. He is only good on a fast break and that is because his game is dependent on the slam dunk. That is the only part of his game that is good. He cant dribble, shoot or post up. He can only make acrobatic dunks. He didnt make first, second or honorable mention ALL CITY in Huntsville.

Well we will have a good starting lineup the point guard will be Malcolm Campbell, the shooting guard will be Keith Gamble, the small forward probably will be Lamar Clark(transfer from Murray State), Power Forward will be filled either by Derrick Russell, Xavier Oliver or they might switch Pettway to Power Foward, and let the 2 giants(Tedric Hill, 6'11 and Michael Green, 6'11) on our team battle for Center. This team might have chance to be better than the team that won it in 2000, i know they got more talent and have a better bench
