PV basketball....is there a change coming...again

Yep, we know what's going to happen. We're going undefeated in SWAC play this fall AND we're gonna' beat the "L" out of ou, tx a&m, uofh (if they rescheduled), AND Rutgers!

The SWAC doesn't know what's about to hit panthers.... :shame:

wanna bet ;) ;) ;) ;) ;) ;) ;)

I don't gamble DAHILL, but one thing's for sure. We're going to be MUCH better this fall than what we were this past fall. We're going undefeated.

Well we cant be no worst...... PV didnt really impress me last year when I saw them.....now MVSU impressed me. PV could barely beat the worst team in AAMU history. We got a surprise coming for the SWAC in January ;) ;) ;)

SWAC newcomer of the year

the 6-8 kid you got from Panola in TX don't have the grades...the 6-9 kid didn't put the numbers up and they say the point guard is pretty good.

Dahill, what do you mean barely? We had 20 point leads in both games and got complacent againt the "worst" team in AAMU history.

Mike Ford...may be good but he's only 1 guy.

---------------------

we will be better because that wasn't the best team for us either. That team featured a star or two and guys who have been getting beat down for 4 years that got hungry.

I tried to told him BP but DAHILL ain't hurd me yet! LOL

TSF, bruh, we owe y'all. BIG TIME!!! I know who's returning and I ALSO know who graduated (thank GOD!!!!!!!). That boy could shoot the lights out of the sun if he wanted...

W/ what's about to happen, we'll be more than alright this fall.

Dont know about the grade thing...but in Mobile at the Alumni Bulldog roundup... Pettaway said that all recruits were eligible and will play this fall and he also announced two more signees. The dude from Texas was NO GOOD anyway ... I dont even know why he was recruited....The 6'9 kid is legit.... The point guard led the best basketball team in the state to the state championship and was the MVP of the Alabama/Mississippi all star game.. His teamate Mike Williams just signed with University of Texas. 2 more players were signed from Atlanta, One of them highly recruited but schools backed off of him because they thought he wouldnt qualify... he passed his proper test in May and signed with AAMU.... Come January you will see the ball in Mike Ford hands A LOT...just by watching him practice with the team last year got me excited... Just imagine a 6'8 guard that can shoot the three better than anybody we had on our team. If it comes down to a last second shot... Pettaway will give him the ball at the top of the key and let him go one on one... you BETTA put your guard on him because he is too quick for a big man.

and I will say again PV didnt impress me last year...a good team doesnt let another team come back from a 20 point lead. We was a no call away from pulling off an incredible comback. With the team AAMU had last year everybody should have beat them by 20.

and if I recall correctly... Didnt AAMU beat Texas So???

Shaking My Head!!

You all are crazy. Last year is done. Prairie View A & M University was the SWAC 2003 Champion and Texas Southern University was the SWAC Tournament 2003 Champion.

One thing is for sure. It is nice to read that there is some interest in SWAC basketball during the summer, especially from the stand point that where knocking on the door and leading up to the football season.

I do not know about the rest. I suspect that Alabama A & M University and Texas Southern University will be in hunt. I know one thing for sure Prairie View A & M University will be in the hunt and that is all I can ask from my 2nd year coach in Francis as he continues on his efforts to build our program. I am well aware of his goals and for them to come true. It will leave Praire View A & M University in a very good position and that his the "new" direction of our athletics program lead by our new president, athletic director, booster clubs, alumni association, students, and fans.

PV Produces Productive People

We now have leadership that is commited to the plan of PV Producing Productive People not only in the academic arenas, but also in the athletic arenas, as well.

The Pride is Back!!

The SWAC is on the Clock!!

In good sportmanship fashion, good luck. But, "time" has come for Prairie View A & M University to become an intergral part of the championship landscape throughout SWAC sports at it was scene during the days as a "charter" member of the SWAC. As all things do it will come full circle.

You sure did... and I wasnt saying that Texas SO wasnt a good team... I was just saying that if we can beat the SWAC champ in our worst year, then maybe things werent as bad as we were making it seem.... AAMU didnt have any leadership last year... we lost 5 games by one point and about 5 more by 7 or under. I think we will be aight this year. Pettaway promised he would never go through another season like last year. He said he wasnt strict on them like he has been in the past and they got away with a lot of things they usually wouldnt.... Another bad year this year and he can walk out the door as far as I am concerned.

:D

On the real, ya'll really don't know what's in store for ya'll, it's going to be like old times in the F.G Clark when you feared coming across that hump.

Only this time, with instant replay.
:D

Bluedog,

I agree playing Clark is not an easy task. It will be interesting view your new coach brings to the table in terms of game time decisions. I am aware that you all brought in some, but that was beside him. It will be very interesting to view how he recruits in the off-season. I think Southern University can bring a great deal to offer a student athlete in terms an education of course and entertaining environment. As well as your assistant coach coming from Morris Brown may provide Southern with some foot prints in Atlanta, especially after the excited and attendance number brought from you all when you went Atlanta two years ago.

But, again. I like our situation.

with the instant winning, the big-name recruits in the area have started to check out the campus. We could not get them to do that at one time but now we are over that hump.

again, what folks saw last year was a team that received good coaching and at times, lacked complatency. I guarantee, this year's team won't do that. The old guard is moving on and the new guys coming in were the stars of their high school program and went deep into postseason play.

I also see that almost every team we beat went the JUCO route to catch up with us. We went opposite and will have the kids around for 4 years.

DAHILL,
LOL, Stop scaring them. Don't try to explain anything to them. They'll see for themselves soon enough. They need to be worrying about stopping AAMU from winning the first 3 championships of next school year (Volleyball, soccer, and football). Then they can be scared about basketball.

BP, by the time our JUCOs eligibility ends, we will have a team of mostly Juniors with 2 years of experience under their belts. But that's going too far ahead for y'all to understand what I mean. You don't even want to think about what will happen '04-'05 before that. DAHILL, don't tell them about Neloms. :smh:

then we got ol buddy transferring in from D2.... my nickname for him is going to be D2..... he was the Gulf South Conference Freshman of the Year last year.... against the three D1 schools he played against last year as a freshman, he hit 22 against Southern, 25 against UAB, and 16 against Ole Miss. I wish he didnt have to sit out a year.

Did you know he signed three 6-7 guys and one 6-6??!!

Nothing wrong with signing JUCO All-Americans
:D

DAHILL,
Why didnt Flowers transfer to A&M, like yall used to say he would?
:D

Flowers graduated already....when you in grad school, you go to the school that best offers your major. He aint goin to TSU for basketball... he is going for school. Flowers was a one hit wonder anyway... He went from riding the bench his junior year to being Mr. Basketball his senior year.... I dont think he would have done anything in the SWAC...

Now Mike Ford :) come January everybody will see

BP,
Spivery is doing a good job of loading up on talent and making ASU the deepest team in the SWAC. What you saw happen last year (with the season ending injury to Pettway and the effects of that) should never happen again.

btw, I know you're happy that Pettway went down because that injury allowed you to win the regular season.
LOL

ASU is back!!!!

Mighty Hornet, STOP using Pettaway's injury as an excuse for ASU's collapse in the second half of 2002-2003 basketball season. Up until the second half, ASU was one of the top three teams in the SWAC.

ASU has NEVER been a powerhouse in SWAC basketball. Take your one and only SWAC title and go back to being the losers ASU has always been.
