PV and TSU should throw a Louisiana special

someone mentioned the other day to a "power-that-be" that Louisiana folks should be welcomed to attend the Labor Day Classic at a reduced price...

might as well make it free of charge since it looks like now they are there for an extended period of time.

I think it's a great idea and with no football in Louisiana and the amount of folks in Texas, lets get their minds off the game for an hour or so.

Yep, everyone else is doing it in Houston. The Comets let them in free to their game, Univ of Houston is doing the same thing with their game against Oregon. We need to follow suit and let them in free too.

TSU, this is your home game and probably your decision to make.

Although I think its a great idea, some of "us" are still b@tching about the high cost for parking and admission into reliant. It might not go over well when others are getting in free.

who makes these decisions anyway?

Most likely some type of gesture will be extended to folks from the LA, MS, AL areas. I'm not sure who would make that call, but UH is offering free tickets and Relient is refunding the price of parking. Hopefully this will not turn into a black/white issue.

I made this suggestion to Athletic Director Alois Blackwell on Monday at the TSU vs PV Media Luncheon. We could have been the first group to offer this humane gesture. He told me I did not understand the dynamics of Reliant Stadium tickets prices. Hopefully since others have done it, we will too.

WTF?!

What's "hard to understand" that if you have a La/Mi/Al DL that you get in free?

The Comets just did that last night. Surely it's not hard logistically to complete that. Surely... :shame:

He was not thinking. If all those people get in free while the Texas people are paying, they STILL get all their money. It should not matter that the people who were not even going to come to the game anyway, get in free.

True becasue the stadium is not going to be sold out....... Most people who have tickets are going regardless...... Besides I a mhearing that in order to get in you had to have a LA ID to show proof..... I think this is a good idea they should be able to sit back and watch the game and enjoy the bands and get Katrina off there minds for a while........I think it seats like what 78,000 people????????

With 20,000plus people staying in the Astrodome, it would be just satisfying to let them take that short walk to Reliant Park and watch the LDC for free. They need some sort of entertainment to help ease a little peace of mind for a few hours.

Can you imagine the 35,000 plus the 25,000 refugees in Reliant stadium rocking to the bands and the football game going on. You could have that place packed like it was the SuperBowl with folks.

the folks who come up with the bright ideas aren't the ones who are getting the big bucks....

if this promotion does happen..will East Tex get credit for suggesting it first? Hell no....

I was thinking the same thing. Consider that a lot of Black folks coming to the Astrodome were in the Superdome.

It not about credit
It is about people doing thing right when someone comes to them with a idea to help the people who just have losted everything

I think many of us are on the same page regarding this situation. I understand that something is going to be offered. It is a no-brainer in my opinion to offer them the opportunity to come to the game for free.

As a side note, tickets sales are going great! It was announced that the game has sold 10,000 more tickets at this same time last year. We are expecting a record crowd for this game of 45k-55k.

With the impending offer to allow the evacuees to the game, it is a real possibility that a capacity crowd of 70,000 is obtainable.

Who controls it? Must it be mutual?

I'd really seriously be hard-pressed if PVU admins and officials AND alumni didn't step up to the plate.
