This is killing me. I don't know if this has been addressed in the past, but, what R your feelings towards each?
I thought my public school education was sufficient and upon entering college, I found that there are/were some disparities even amongst public schools (exposure, funding, facilities, etc.). I never thought private schools offered anything other than more exposure and opportunities. Period.
My daughter currently attends private school and it's KILLING me. She's one of only 4 (yep, I said 4) people of color on this entire campus of 1100 (k-12). Good school, yet young (not over 20 years old). Reputable and very sound. Their curriculum is admirable. Just, no color whatsoever on the friggin' campus (not the cafeteria, janitorial, groundsman, etc...). Now, it's the "justification" thing that's irking me. I do not like the current school district that we live in period. It reminds me of that one that I grew up in and I swore that I'd never ever allow any child of mine to endure what I did. So, it's like we've chosen the lesser of 2 evils to deal w/. Deal w/ the "wannabe" rich and elite redneck or deal w/ the "more common" redneck.
I'm distraught...
