Pregnant and Smoking

Folks, I have been meaning to mention this before.....

I work in the hood for an alternative school is Montgomery County across the street is the hood (projects). I've mentioned this before about folks at the pump smoking. But I am so tired of seeing all these pregnant women smoking cigarettes like they are taking prenatal vitamins. I see on average about 5--6 women smoking daily when I am at work......This lady came up to me about 15 minutes ago after I came from the administration builiding and was like "Sir, do you have a cigarette on you".... At this point I ate her arse up and informed her first and foremost I have a job and am well dressed with a brief case does it look like I have a cigarette. Then I just had to ask her why are you smoking if you are having a baby..... Her response to me is that it's a HABIT that she is trying to BREAK!!!!!!! I told her that the minute she found out that she was pregnant she should have let that HABIT go..... It never registered with me and I have been in the education system for about 5 years now that this is why some of the children in these classroom cannot get it together because of reasons like this(ADD)!!!!!!! Why have some many American women fell into this trap that it is ok to smoke while being pregnant.... THIS really hit me in my heart today..... This is another factor in why we are getting further and further behind as a race. I know that white women do it to but my first mind was to call CPS on her if I could..... Has anybody else noticed this as well??????????

Byaches.

I stop smoking. You take on day at a time a find something else to be your habit.

They don't care at all!!!!! I be looking at those Ho's like what is your problem....

It has been about 9 or 10 years since I can remember seeing a pregnant woman smoking. That's a shame that they don't care enough about their unborn baby.

All of my friends stopped smoking when they got pregnant. One started back after she had the baby but I reminded her if she could stop for 9 months then she could give it up permanently. She hasn't smoked in over a year.

That's good! Even after you have the baby, the mother still doesn't need to be smoking around the baby or in the house.

I can't stand to see people smoke PERIOD! But it really bothers me to see a pregnant woman smoking.

I think they do it, because they care enough about themselves or their baby. :smh:

What's even worser is bearing witness to a preggy woman smoking weed/crack. :shame: From a distance of course.

What do you do? Say? :argue2: Attempting to rationalize w/ someone who's an avid drug user is like running into a brick wall and attempting to knock it down. Not gonna' happen. :(

My problem is you have to take an exam for drivers license but not to be a parent.

Man, don't you know it! You have to qualify for a house, car, credit cards, they do credit checks to hire folks, the inside of your colon has to be checked out but ANYBODY WITH A HOLE AND SOME PROTEIN CAN PRODUCE A KID WHETHER THEY HAVE GOOD SENSE OR NOT. :look:

Sad but true....and so very frustrating. :smh:

About 4 years ago when I lived in Arizona, I knew this sister that smoked while pregnant. She ended up loosing the baby. I think she was doing that on purpose. I don't understand why women smoke while pregnant either.

its been going on for years and years and years....just like everything else we clame has been plaguing us as a race...

will it end along with other things we see as disgusting or despicable?

IMO....NO iT WILL NOT!!!

I have not seen anyone smoke while pregnant since 1992. This girl was smoking but it was not a cigarette. Two of her sisters and I asked her to stop out of concern for the baby. She had the baby...but that baby died crib death...and came here too small. She had to stay in the hospital until she reached at least 5 pounds in weight.

This girl is an alcoholic with bad childhood history...The hospital treats her for the drugs but nothing is done about the horrible emotional abuse she has embedded in her mind. :( Sad, but true.
