Is Jarmaul going to be back this year? My boy coached him when he was at Landry in high school. I've seen him play alot. I believe if he plays he could be the best DB in the SWAC better than Treudo was, and better than Gordon from J State.

He's pretty good he played with my little brother in high school. I haven't had the chance to see him in college, but I see he puts up the stats. Being on a sorry team will hurt him though.

Nobody forgot about Vernon. He is not the best receiver on his team, why would he be the considered the best player in the conference. When was the last time a receiver was MVP of the SWAC? The last one of any consideration was Tramon Douglas. When a receiver does well, most of the time the QB will get most of the credit.

I do believe Vernon will get the nod for 1st team all SWAC at receiver. That is the way most coaches vote in past. Whomever was the leading returning receiver in the previous season will be the top receiver in the following year.

You're right...Vernon was not the best receiver on the SU roster last year, that was supposed to be Alfred Ard :swink: So who you think is SU's best receiver...Overstreet drops too many balls for my taste and Bryant took over when Vernon went down...But Vernon was leading the SWAC in receiving before he got hurt (subsequently had surgery on that knee) in the Alcorn game. A healthy James Vernon woulda caught that pass in the classic that would've made it closer.

That kid from Texas is close to being the best. Rogers Taylor. He has big play written all over him. He just needs to get the ball more. He had some long TDs this past year. Landry may still end up the best as well. Vernon has the experience and is the fastest of them all. I still like Overstreet. He got it done in the SCG. Bryant is the inconsistent one to me. But he is another one that makes big plays. The kid that came on the last couple of games was the Hendersen kid #39. He caught some nice balls. Don't forget about Jamaal Huff either. I know he is a RB, but he caught some balls too. He is our multi-purpose guy. Damn the offense is loaded. LOL.

The last time a WR was SWAC MVP..........trying to remember was Mike Hayes the POTY when he caught 15 tds?

I really thought Rogers Taylor shoulda gotten more consideration for SWAC Frosh of the year than what he did last year. Man he single-handedly started the now-infamous "one-yard" game in the dome with that long bomb.. I think he caught long bombs 3 times to start games last season...I like his potential...I like Landry also...he's shown flashes..plus he's a physical WR, something SU didn't have after the Opelousas gang left (remember, those dudes were known for crackback blocks too).

Henderson came on strong after Vernon got hurt. But it's gonna be niiiice to see SU in 2006 after Vernon, Overstreet and Bryant are gone..and we'll STILL have Taylor, Landry and Junior Joseph.

Most importantly, Lunda Wells graduated and can get that year back he lost...so our O-line situation is looking better.

He's good and he's dangerous...but I don't know if he's better than Landry Carter and Keatwon Gray. Carter was near the top in D1AA in punt return and Gray was near the top in kickoff returns. Not taking nothing from Gordon but those two dudes were dangerous.

I like Carter. But that Gorden is a one man wrecking crew. He can be unbelievable at times. His talent at WR should not be over looked either.

There will be alot of speed running around the SWAC this year. That's for sure.

If George can pass Coloring 101 and SouthWestern Basket Weaving he might be academically eligible to get on the field this year. Did he pass his coloring finals by staying INSIDE the lines this time?
 
GR, George didn't fail in the classroom. His ACT scores were in question, after the NCAA Clearinghouse cleared him to play as a freshmen. Go figure.

Depending if these guys stay healthy the entire season:

OPTY - Tavaris Jackson or Bruce Eugene (if the other recievers help Abney, and Edwards out in the reception department)

DPTY - Cletis Gordon (may get killed playing everything, but I hope he stays healthy)

Yeah he coming back on the field but did Cletis get his team somewhere other than winning them 4 games :lol: o I forgot James Bell didn't do nobody did that the opponents let yall win Let me tell you something Get Ready the only favor J-State did for us in 2004 was beat UAPB and let SU go ahead other than that J-State ain't got to worry about us doing nothing :lol:
