Prayer In School

Prayer

This is a very touchy topic... You feel me? Prayer is cool and is definately needed, Christians should pray in the name of Jesus. Almost everyone serves a g/God.

It wouldn't be fair to the others.

Now, don't get me wrong. I was indeed the Co-Founding Vice President of teh larges High School Christian Club in Michigan. Detroit to be more precise. The school actually did, to me run a little better with teh christian club praying for everyone. Plus you know you are going to always have your teacher that disagree and even your own friends.

The administration was very supportive. We had real church services in teh scxhool. We invited ministers, had praise and worship, laid hands on the, rebuked all kinds of stuff. It was awesome.

Later on in my senior year of high school, the club sposored an outreach called "Basic Party 2000" BASIC means Brothers an Sisters in Christ, that was the name of the club. The club drew half of the school and many community leaders and other schools to our Cafeteria. 150 people got saved in the lunch room. This was in 2000. It was awesome!!!

So really... I don't know but my statement says it all.

Well...

Well... No one can stop you from doing that. I believe that you can do what you basically want to as long as it is not offensive to anyone else.

Are you in high school? Let me know.

Of course anything done without God will perish. Just because the law doesn't allow it openly, doesn't mean it's not there. Should we have a law that forces prayer? Of course not. It is not the government's responsibility to teach someone's child how to pray. God doesn't force anything either...he gives us all free will. If I ever have children someday, I will teach them how to pray at home!!! If they know how to pray at home, then they will know how to pray anywhere else. They will not need permission or a set time to pray. Hopefully, they will influence someone's child who is not being taught in the home.

I'll tell you what I think........

At my high school graduation everbody prayed right before the ceremony. I mean everybody black/white etc. As long as prayer is led by the students they have no problem cause all of our teachers were there while we were praying. But I use to use the moment of reflection as my prayer time.

I disagree

The founding fathers established this Nation on the premise of separation of church and state.
They had the foresight to see and understand that all religious beliefs are not the same
and nothing divide people more than their belief. Most wars was fought because of this.

What's the big deal anyway whether there's prayer in school. Pray when you get up in the
morning that you will make it safely to school, pray at noon or during your lunch hour,
and pray before you retire for the night because he watched over you that day. Prayer is a personal
relationship one has with his/her maker. Each relationship differs.

The constitution give us the freedom to worship what or whomever, but it doesn't give us
the freedom to push our belief on others in a state supported institution. If prayer was
allowed what prayer would we use, a christian one, Islamic, Hindu, Buddha, Jewish, etc.

I'm a christian and in my faith there are many denominations. I've come across some of
my christian brethren that say since I don't worship the way they do or believe as they
do I'm going to hell. How about we let this individual lead us in prayer.

Kids go to school to learn the basic skills and knowledge they need to become productive
citzens in order to survive in a capitalistic society. Practice your religious at home or
the church of your choice under the guidance of your parent(s) and or pastor. The school
is not the place for that. Public school can no longer be everything to everybody.

I think the question needs clarification. Should there be mandatory prayer in schools? I say no to mandatory prayer because God wants people to come to him freely, not forced. The opportunity to pray to God has always been allowed in schools, but just like so many other things satan leads us to focus on things that don't matter and we miss the opportunity.

I often wonder why it took 200 years for man bring into law what the founding fathers proposed, and why it took an athiest to challenge it.
