Labor Day Classic finds holiday refuge at Thanksgiving

The postponed Labor Day Classic between Prairie View A&M and Texas Southern has been rescheduled for Nov. 25, officials from both schools announced Wednesday.
Originally scheduled for Sept. 3, the rescheduled game will be played at its original site, Reliant Stadium. The game will kick off at 1 p.m.
"Keeping the game at Reliant Stadium will allow us to honor tickets previously sold as well as suite reservations," said Charles McClelland, athletic director at Prairie View.
"Hosting the game at that time will allow us to have a (Thanksgiving) holiday weekend to enhance ancillary events in conjunction with the football game."
The Classic was postponed, McClelland said, so that personnel at Reliant Park could concentrate their efforts toward facilitating the housing of Hurricane Katrina evacuees at the Reliant Astrodome.
Advanced ticket sales for the rescheduled date are $20 and $25. Tickets will be sold the day of the game for $26. For further information, call the Prairie View athletic department at 936-857-2127.
