PANTHERS CONCLUDE SPRING DRILLS WITH CONTROLLED SCRIMMAGE
Friday, February 24, 2006 04:28 PM

PRAIRIE VIEW, Texas ? The Prairie View A&M University Panther football team will hold its annual spring game on Wednesday, March 1 at Blackshear Field at 7:00 p.m.

The game, which will be open to the public, will feature a controlled scrimmage that will place the players in game-type situations. However, according to third-year head coach Henry Frazier III, there will be two or three series where the offense will get a chance to drive the length of the field.

?We want to use the controlled format so we can put players in certain situations to see how they react so we can get a true assessment of them,? said Frazier.

Coming off their best season since 1988, the Panthers enter the 2006 season as one of the most experienced teams in the conference with the return of 18 starters from last season.

?It?s priceless to have that experience coming back but just because a player started last year doesn?t mean they?ll start next season due to fierce competition at every position,? said Frazier. ?I truly believe that we are three-deep at every position on the football field and I look forward to a very competitive summer camp and upcoming football season.?

Per NCAA regulations, the Panthers were allowed 14 practices leading up to Wednesday?s scrimmage. Frazier said he was pleased with his team?s effort throughout the sessions.

?Practice has been fierce and the players have really been getting after it,? Frazier said. ?We are still shorthanded offensively in some areas but other guys have stepped up. Overall, I like the spirit, enthusiasm and speed the players are playing at.? .....

Mike send help!!! LOL

This is coming from a team that got 5 wins over D2 schools and teams with 2 and 3 wins and now all of a sudden they are three deep. Try getting a first string together first.

Start early. Finish early. Students can concentrate on lifting/conditioning and most importantly their studies. :) Coaches go on a sabbatical learning offensive/defensive schemes from other athletic programs... around here somewhere. :) Ton of I-As and vastly improved I-As here (plz take note of Baylor and UofH's resurgence).

Can't refute what we did on the ground this past fall. But even that wasn't good enough for what I think we're going to do this fall. Couple a passing game w/ that and... :read:

You'd better go to sports.pvamu.edu and study really hard. That roster is going to change a lil' bit over the summer. :emlaugh:

Aside: I thought we were returning 20 of 22 starters? There were only 5 seniors on the squad unless... Hmmmmmmmmm......

While over at www.tsuball.com ........

It's knowing how to use the redshirt system correctly and spreading your scholarships out over 5 years. But you kept suggesting that Bell was the best thing since sliced bread and your new coach is getting rid of all of his recruits and bringing in a entirely new squad.

Wasn't JSU one of those D2 schools PV beat?

TP,
I thought you would have had more sense than to leave the gate open like you did.
:retard:

I'm beginning to strongly think that TP is "that other Guy" that Mighty Dog talked about in that other thread. :emlaugh:

2006 @ Memorial Stadium?

PVU-56
JSU-10 :shame:

Comegy is not really getting rid of ANY of Bell's/Hughes recruits. He can't afford to. We only had a shortage of people to begin with AND we know how to use the redshirt system. Bell rarely recruited a prop and he rarely played a freshmen. On the other hand, don't come on here acting like most of PV's recruits are/were not props. It ain't like you all could be selective. sheesh.

How many schools are you homecoming bait for? Remember Comegy chose the easiest home game on the schedule for homecoming...it was PVU...LOL

technically Robber...only 1 defensive starter and a back-up running back were props and with closed admissions which started in 2004, a prop can't get into PV now.

so, we only recruit eligible athletes nine times out of 10 unless a prop can get in despite not having the NCAA scores....

Bell might not have recruited props but he had problems with transfers...still waiting on the status of those transfers who never played a down...you had Marcus Ross from UH and haven't seen him and Cooper from Grambling....

Just like Bell he chose one of the easiest games to get embarrased in !

Oh, just one. :) JSU's HC opponent. Funny, we would've done likewise if JSU was playing @ PV this fall. :emlaugh:

But still. That was a HUGE mistake making us your HC opponent TP.

Remember what UAPB did last fall? :what: We are VASTLY improved(ing). We will compete and we will NOT rollover or have a letdown like those 2 games last fall (GSU/MVSU/SU). :| Bank on it.

Man, you all MIGHT will 4 games next year. JSU is going to make an example out of you. Comegy is gonna whoop Frazier "worser" than Bell did.
