Phil, I'm back at my hotel here in Houston; stayed at the Sheraton Suites with the team. My boys played a damn good game and offense (under Dooley's instruction) played very, very well. We hurt ourselves with penalties the first half of the game.
From what I saw throughout the entire game is that our OLs are holding for Ben; but he's taking too long to view the field and execute. He's taking entirely too long to decide whether to pass, run, or throw and that's what's getting him sacked! At first I thought it was our OLs but they are blocking and holding well for him. He has to learn to quickly find his WRs or either keep the ball himself to run it. He had plenty of room to run tonight.
Thankfully, like in the game against Alcorn, the offense woke up in the 3rdQ.......and boy did they wake up. Defense was on it all night long, but the 3rd and 4thQ belonged to our offense. We still have to learn to come out of the tunnel scoring, but our TOP was awesome, and from what I've always seen with my boys, the longer our TOP, the more we score. I don't care how many drives it takes us as long as we eventually put up 7 afterward. Offense needs to learn this by having our QB make short screens and concentrate more on converting the down back to the first down. Time of possession is a considerable factor in winning games. Hopefully my boys will learn this and execute it.
I don't know who #22 is on the PV team, but that kid can return his azz off! Each punt return he got the yards for PV......he was unstoppable. Prairie View took us down literally to seconds in this game and they are not to be taken lightly. They still played hard down to the last 4 seconds of the game......but I'm so thankful it was my boys who got the win!
Damn good game PV.........but I'm glad my boys finally ended this streak!
UAPB GOLDEN LIONS!!! UAPB GOLDEN LIONS!!! UAPB GOLDEN LIONS!!!And it was good seeing you again Quietstorm.....I'm so glad everything has worked out for you! To God be the glory!
