Prairie View A&M To Introduce New Head Football Coach Friday Morning

I HOPE this is not true. smgdh Prairie View is about to make me be a sam houston state football season pass holder.

I sincerely hope not. No knock on coach Dooley because I think he's a good one but I do not believe he is a good fit for PV. Ultimately, those athletically impaired numbskulls leading the charge there will continue to make whatever emotionally laden hasty decision as they please.

Do you still feel this way about PVAMU's decision to hire Coach Dooley?

So where does UAPB go from here?

They probably will reopen the search and try to get a hot name maybe sway Ruffin from Miles try to buy him. My opinion is they top two left and they don’t want a guy just to have him. They could even give Anthony Jones a shot just to get some wins and make a push for the swac championship. My sincere hope is they just don’t hire someone out of anger with the other candidates.

We're to announce our new HC on tomorrow at 1:00PM, so I'm not sure the search was re-opened. If it was, it happened super quick. Out of the "top 3" choices we had, one withdrew his name after his current job gave him more money (and rightfully so), and one accepted what he thought was the better offer, so that leaves us with the last of the 3 (Cedric Thomas). Unless we (UAPB) had more interviews in such a short time, I'm guessing (and only guessing) that Thomas will be named our new HC.

We'll know for sure on tomorrow.

We gave Coach Anthony Jones a shot. He was "hired" to be our Offensive Coordinator and academic liaison to help with our football APR, and served in that position for 2 years. Many alumni, including myself, believed his hire was done more so because he was fired by AAMU and because he and Coach Coleman are really good friends who played together for the Redskins, and not because of his coaching capabilities. Following the death of his son, I think Coach Jones returned back to Alabama to be with his wife and son, and to pursue a coaching career in a more familiar territory.

Yep a homeboy deal and those usually doesn’t work out imo - good luck w/ new Hfc - will he recruit some Midwest cities - UAPB closest hbcu to the Midwest

Thomas is your guy, that's the Mississippi connection Hardy is akin to, so there was never going to be a re-opening of the process. HE GOT HIS MAN!

They didn’t give jones a fair deal there at UAPB he should’ve been the head coach and how does a man that won so much not get hired at a program that’s loosing so much. Man it’s crazy that these guys are loosing and still have jobs but the guys that win don’t.
