Prairie View A&M Makes Case For At-Large FCS Playoff Bid

Who fault is it that they lost to Grambling State if they were going to the celebration bowl would we be having all these threads about them not getting into the playoffs. I mean really. .

Just schedule the Southland or OVC (SWAC) and Big South or CAA (MEAC) and beat them, there will be an at-large bid waiting. Simple as that.

That's what has been said from the on start. I don't know why ( but really I do) they want to act like this is something new. The year's when we had two to three teams rank we always got an at-large-bid.

Them having a bias isn't anything new. But at the end of the day if we don't perform well enough to be considered you can't complain.

They need to stop begging for charity.

Mark my words that if we continue to play like we are in basketball. We will get no less then a 13th seed. That's what happen when you perform.

You get respect bias or not.

You live by the sword you die by the sword please let's keep it moving....

It's not just about them, it's about any other conference school that could be in the same boat. We know that the exception would be Gsu, Su, Jsu & Alcorn since they play on Thankgiving weekend.

What about any other teams that don't win their division but have the record for consideration?

Oh now you're crusading for other conferences

GOHWBS

So what other conferences are you devoting this big crusade to?

The Pioneer conference? They've been when they have perform.

The Ivy League? They have been when they have perform

The NEC, Patriot, Southern Conference? They all have been and are going when they perform.

You're not helping or doing the conference any favors by begging for a spot. You're embarrassing it

No backroom dealings, just conference perception. Since the SWAC doesn't play any "meaningful" OOC games, they just overlook us.

I like Mike Biggs idea about matching up the teams from the SWAC and MEAC. Imagine doing that over Labor Day week-end at one sight. In Atlanta, Birmingham, Memphis, Houston or New Orleans (examples) You could do a Saturday, Sunday, Monday deal. You talk about fun! As far as the FCS play-offs, although I respect the SWAC more than a lot of my brethren it is hard to agree with some of the arguments I hear on here. You cannot have it both ways. You either send your champion or you do not.
I understand the financial implications of the SWAC Championship and The Celebration Bowl. However you cannot have it both ways. You make your decision and live with it. However I do think that not participating in the play-offs hurts the perception of the SWAC more than any racial bias. But if you do not care about what the rest of the FCS world thinks then I understand. What hurts the SWAC is funding and administrations reluctance to think outside the box. (in my humble opinion). :)

Is that your only criteria for a meaningful OOC game? So now, we must be able to predict the future when scheduling.

Valley played Jax State. AAMU played CCU.

BCU is a quality OOC opponent that Grambling barely lost to

And the outcome of those games were...

I'm not arguing with you guys, just trying to get some of you to see that until we can beat these teams consistently, there is no at-large team in the future of the SWAC. They put 5 MVFC teams in, 5! Multiple CAA teams in and not one HBCU? They care about who you play and how you look playing against them.

Lmao .....no....no...how about what does any of that ( who Valley, AMMU,Gram played ) have to do with PV getting a bid?

Lmao ......OM.......freaking .......G

They are getting worse than the freaking meac with their logic

9 game mandate which means your conference has to be super strong as plenty of teams in other fcs leagues got blasted in ooc games and relied on their league schedule to bail them out

So, how do you determine if our league is super strong?

I'm just trying to understand what is going on in this thread. I would have loved to see PV in the playoffs. But, their schedule this yr didn't dictate them getting an invite, according to what the playoff committee deemed necessary. Some people want the playoffs for the 2nd place team in the SWAC & MEAC, but for that to happen, the OOC schedule has to be strong and we have to either win or have a very close loss in those games.

Even though the playoffs is not a money maker, you have to weigh the options and see if that is what's good for your program. Either play another game on the road ( because we will not be given a home game, no matter what) or pack it up and start off season work outs and recruiting.

PV reached out to everyone in America for a home game in 10/3 and only 2 responded

Next year it's Texas a&m and rice as non-conference foes so your expected to lose and if you find yourself with one loss again in SWAC before the classic that does mean you get a bid now?

It was obvious when ESPN overlooked their own graphic and jay walker said nothing since he is the one pushing hbcu football

I am not surprised at all that PV is out of the playoffs. It would have been nice, but I did not expect the team to be in playoffs.

How do can you expect to get a top fcs to come and play at home when you can't guarantee where they will be playing at? You know they're not going to play on the bleachers like your conference team do.

So it begs the question why not travel? You still get the same result and even stronger argument if you win or just play close.

Excuses

So basically your saying the SWAC is the reason we'll never get respect?

Blue....PV had a home site a year in advance...what are you talking about?

It's more than the SWAC...its a regional thing...uca goes 7-4 and snubbed but a 5 loss team from the Midwest is in....

You asked who played against FCS playoff teams. Not the outcome.

It goes back to what was said in other thread. Even if the SWAC and MEAC played bad OOC schedules, there is nothing that will convince me that a 6-5 WIU team from the MVC is more deserving than a 9-2 BCU team (I'm not including PV since their case is not as strong). Some of yall are criticizing the hell out of HBCUs instead of the NCAA FCS Selection Committee for loving the CAA and MVC so much. You are basically saying that a ranked Grambling ain't s*** despite being undefeated in the SWAC since that was BCU's quality OOC win. BCU's lone FCS loss was to NCAT who won a share of MEAC title. BCU still would have been snubbed with MEAC auto-bid or not like last year.

You even had 6-5 Liberty with a win against the #1 FCS team in country and EKU with a 7-4 record with better cases than WIU. You're basically saying that a team that was average in the MVC is better than an above average MEAC or SWAC team when 6-5 WIU gets in
