Prairie View A&M Makes Case For At-Large FCS Playoff Bid

I don't understand y folks think Grambling and SU are against other schools going to the FCS playoffs. The Bayou Classic didn't stop anybody from going to the playoffs pre-SCG, the problem was teams getting the crap beat out of them. We do the best things for our programs, and if the rest of the SWAC wants to play in the playoffs, there are annual meetings to take a vote

Because they can used that as an excuse instead of accepting the fact that their team may not be as good as they think. For the reason that they didn't make it.

For a team to not be good you sure are trolling this thread really hard

For the first time in years the race has been decided well before the classic so now you can channel energy towards the fcs as there is a team worthy of it....if Grambling lost to alcorn PV is waiting until next weekend for the race to shake out

Would be surprised if PVAMU is even in consideration. Sorry, guys...

I'm on the bandwagon of opinion that B-CU will be selected when many are counting them out - but I do not think the general populous, let alone the selection committee could justify PVAMU as a playoff possibility. The SWAC has to up the ante with OOC and then get a team with a PVAMU-like record to the table.

On the bright side, if PVAMU does make it - likely traveling to SHSU. NCAA likes keeping costs down...

I was wondering when you would step into the frey on this conversation.

That's what I'm thinking with the NCAA, a regional game with hardly any travel cost associated with it in the 1st round.

I'm not such a big fan of the regionalization, but that's what happens to keep travel costs down. If they can bus a team (anything less than 400 miles), they will. Once a team is in the air, a team is in the air. Have a feeling the second round will be loaded with conference matchups (including SHSU vs McNeese) if all things play out the way the NCAA wants them to.

Again, I do not think most any one was truly aware of the PVAMU playoff 'situation' even as of right now. I messaged Craig Haley of STATS to see if he knew about it! I only came to TSPN board when I saw in the Houston Chronicle this morning that PVAMU was hoping for a playoff bid. I did a double-take and came here to see what's what.

Bruh did you even stop to think before you even post this stupid isht right here? Seriously did you really take the time out to stop and think?

And if you did. Please elaborate how this even makes an inkling of sense do you

Call me crazy but there should be more bowl game possibilities for HBCU's. Bethune-Cookman should be playing SWAC Champ loser and NCCU should be playing PV.

You're crazy. First work on making the main one a success then the rest will take care of itself.

Here we go with this load of crap again. The freaking meac has never been anymore the two spots higher then the swac. Just last week they had the SWAC rated at 11.09 or something like that and the meac at 9.63 or something.

So much for that load a crap

Yep, that regionalization is a real thing they like to do.
I think the Citadal's win over South Carolina did wonders to get them a at large birth.

Our #PVtotheplayoff campaign did get the eye of some and the article on the main page got picked up by the NCAA FCS Facebook page.

A lot of people discount that the Swac can even have someone eligible for a at large bid because of the SCG and the history of not sending anyone since 98. This will be a lesson for all to know about what teams can be eligible if they don't win their division and don't play thanksgiving weekend. The new conference schedule that starts in 2017 will help and hurt because you'll have to wait longer to determine the division winners because there will be more tie possibilities. It will also let more teams schedule more ooc games with other fcs schools.

It's a ludicrous idea to write such an article

It doesn't take very long for you to see just how bright this guy is does it?

Nah....that's Nicholas

Bruh don't start. They know there's no cost and benefits. They just want to be able to say they rubbed elbows

Nobody giving any push back. They are simply presenting the facts of the odds against it happening.

While in the other hand there are those who would want you to believe this is not out of the ordinary and it's not a long shot. And that's putting it mildly.

Would you care to post anyone saying that they were against it?

Is that why ya'll show up 200 deep on the road? I'm asking for a friend.

That if some schools even use those 2 extra games to schedule FCS opponents, I hoping we don't get 9 and 11 game schedules full of d2 and below opponents. Some of us in Grambling are already upset we play Texas College next season for homecoming, I hope we all upgrade our schedule and beat our fellow FCS members

You took the time to quote no less then 11 of my post but I've become a troll. Got ya.

Welp your still the little whining crybaby that if nobody agrees with your attempt to get attention only for PV under the disguise of conference unity. You say some dumb isht as if you actually have some credibility.

Well the highlight "Meac, Swac, Ivy leagues do not participate in the playoffs told the story" even though they didn't say it on the air when reading the other stuff about the playoffs.

Yep. We need more bowl games between the SWAC and MEAC.

Pretty much. This year (as well as last year) proved that with BCU getting snubbed once again despite winning a share of the MEAC title. The FCS Playoff selection committee have made it loud and clear they don't respect HBCU football.

The SCG runner versus the 2nd place team in the MEAC would be a start (although the MEAC really need to do a championship game).

A 5 loss team got in because the committee chair said their conference was strong....that says it all..its about perception

What more can you do?

The southland only got 2 in and uca went 7-4...a regional bias is in play also

I wish jay would also ask questions at least about Bethune....

Just schedule the Southland or OVC (SWAC) and Big South or CAA (MEAC) and beat them, there will be an at-large bid waiting. Simple as that.

Pretty much. And every school needs to be on same page and stay away from the Concordia/Edward Waters games (unless they're a local team like BCU is to EWC or Concordia is to ASU)

We knew PV's chances were slim but BCU getting snubbed was sort of a surprise because they actually won a share of MEAC crown (like last year).

We could have Bowl games in New Orleans and Houston to go with the CB in Atlanta. Those bowl games would be played in NFL stadiums too unlike the FCS Title Game.

Yeah, but 5 teams from the Missouri Valley and 4 from the Colonial got in. They even said the Citidel's win over South Carolina (FBS) got them in and kept Towson out as the 5th from the Colonial.

I just hope that the SWAC teams schedule other FCS teams when the 7 game conference schedule go into effect. Maybe play a MEAC team in some kind of classic and try to get regional and maybe some FCS team outside the region in a home and home. That way, the teams that don't play Thanksgiving weekend will have a shot at the playoffs.

MEAC

1. North Carolina A&T
2. Bethune-Cookman
3. North Carolina Central
4. South Carolina State
5. Hampton
6. Morgan State
7. Norfolk State
8. Savannah State
9. Delaware State
10. Florida A&M
11. Howard

SWAC

1. GSU
2. ALCORN
3. PV
4. SU
5. BAMA STATE
6. JACKSON STATE
7. AAMU
8. TXSU
9. UAPB
10. MSVU

The SWAC-MEAC Challenge should be Conference Wide... Pair the teams the first week of the season based on previous years finish. One year the SWAC Teams host and the next season the MEAC Teams host the games. The gate proceeds are "pooled" and divided equally among conference members. The host team keeps it's concessions and parking.
