Powe's attorney: Ole Miss will appeal NCAA ruling

OXFORD ? Ole Miss will file two appeals on Jerrell Powe's behalf after the NCAA ruled the freshman football player ineligible to practice and play for the Rebels this season.

"Jerrell has worked very hard and shown a lot of determination to be an Ole Miss student," Ole Miss chancellor Robert Khayat said in a news release from the school. "In the interest of fairness, we believe he should be given an opportunity to pursue his education. As is the case with all Ole Miss students, we will be supportive of him and his efforts to have a successful academic career."

"I'm trying to be optimistic that this process will work," said Don Jackson Powe's atorney. "There are circumstances where student-athletes go through these appeals processes and they are granted.

now that's just a damn shame. They done had that boy jumping through hoops for 2 years. He has done everything they asked him to do and they still won't let him in. That's ridiculous, but Chris Strong can just up and transfer to Genesis One and get cleared the first time.
