Quite honestly it may only work in NOLA comfortably. I think there will forever be an issue of Hurricane's now after KATRINA. I just pray NOLA gets back to what it used to be so that events like this can be enjoyed thoroughly again.

Essence Festival organizers meeting with city and state officials

Organizers of the Essence Festival are meeting with city and state officials this week in hopes of moving the festival back to the Superdome.


Essence organizers said they want the festival back in New Orleans, but they want to first make sure that the hotels, restaurants and shops will be ready to handle the large number of tourists.


“This is our home; you know we are looking at it. We’re trying, we’ve just come out of Houston, it was successful, but we’re longing for New Orleans so we are having our meeting, meetings I should say, with the Lt. Governor and the Mayor. We’re just seeing if the structure can be put into place for us to come back,” said Susan Taylor, the Editorial Director for Essence Magazine.


Taylor said the festival would not have left this year for Houston if the dome had been open.

I wish the Bayou Classic officials felt the same way instead of trying to rush and move the game back to the city seeing as how the city may not be ready yet.
