Poker Face

Vinita

Let's Go Lions, GO!
How good are you at masking your feelings from your face? I mean, if you were ready to rip your supervisor/boss a new one, would they be able to tell if they looked at your face?

I thought I could, but I have been informed that my eyes give away my sentiments, and anyone who pays attention can recognize when I'm happy, sad, angry, irritated, bored, etc.

I'm gonna have to work on that. :shame:

How 'bout y'all?

I'm not good at hiding how I feel.

My feelings show on my face for real!

And I don't try to hide it either...:o

Not only on my face but my mouth will be expressing it. Although, I am much better at "holding my mule" now that in the past.

I think I have a pretty decent poker face.

I tend to smile as opposed to giving a blank stare.

Whether I'm pissed, happy, upset and quite often angry (the hardest to do), I try to just smile...or at least smirk. :smug2:

My sentiments exactly...I'm not good at faking anything.

We were in a staff development once, and I told this woman that I have a habit of not looking at people while I'm talking to them. I can be looking out the window, or at the television, and be fully engaged in a conversation.

However, if I'm looking right at you, I ain't hearing ISHT you sayin'.

How 'bout this woman made me look at her, and then started talking? She spoke for about five minutes, but the only thing I can recall is her saying that people may be bothered by my not looking at them, which is the first thing she said.

Everyone around me knew I was NOT paying attention to her azz, including my principal ...

I can see you doing that. I notice I will look at the window or in the air...when tyring to get my thoughts out. In my high school speech class, it was funny as hell to watch ourselves give a speech while the the instructor counted how many times we said "and" or some peoples eyes would move in a circular fashion just to avoid eye contact. Don't mention those who shifted their weight from foot-to-foot...

I have to look at folks, when I speak to them, when I'm being serious. Now, my manager views the back of my head, on a daily basis...especially, when she brings her ass over here w/all that micro-managing mess.

I can't hide my frustration. I get really quiet...then I fidget. That's usually when a good "cuss out" is building up inside of me.

I try not to let loose because I usually will go pick up a bat or something a bust a MOFO.

I can look at someone in the face when I am talking to someone, but not if they are talking to me. I did that in my interview; when the Principal and the AP were asking me questions, I would be looking at the map on the wall, the clock on the desk, whatever ...

But when I was talking, I would make eye contact with them.

Guess that failed to bother them, much ...

Then, when I am in a meeting with someone, my eyes tend to give away my level of irritation, or boredom ... even when my body language might say otherwise.

I told you, we are... I'm an EYES person...I want to see your eyes, when I'm speaking to you. I think I learned that skill, while married. :emlaugh:

I guess you must be used to me, then, because I probably ain't never looking at you while you're talking to me. :D

If I'm in a professional environment I'm pretty good about masking my irritation or anger. Those who know me know that my voice drops when I'm fed up or mean business. When I'm angry I talk faster (I have to make an effort to speak slowly because people always teased me about talking too fast). Those who really know me can read my face no matter what.

I was just reminded after a meeting today that my eyes told it all. I'm working on it. :shame:

I can hide my true feelings when I want to.

And when I'm serious about something or got something serious to say, I don't believe in doing it over the phone. I like looking people directly in the eyes.

Not good at all.

I guess that's the Aquarius in me. I wear my emotions on my shoulders.

When Im :redhot:, it will be all over my face.

Yes LAWD! I don't want to be emailed, or spoken to, over the phone. Be a woman/man about your schitt. Tell me to my face.
